For the roaches you could use 'Boric acid'. Mix the powder with food roaches are attracted to. Spread around the corners of the house and ESP. the door and window sill.

I lived in hawaii for a year and loved it!! Just Always put food away or wrap it up after eating it- that helps with the ants and roaches issue!!
You have to go to sunset beach christian while you're out there! That church is so rad!
