Tonally, this reminds me of The Mummy (1999), which I consider a good thing.
Always up for a D&D movie, show or game. Looking forward to this with hopes of it being a really good setup for the show. Enjoyed the trailer and reaction 👍👍✌out.
Chris Pine is a Bard, Michelle Rodriguez is a Barbarian, Rege-Jean Page is Paladin, Justice Smith is a Sorcerer, and Sophia Lillis is a Druid. This has the feels of a tabletop adventure brought to live action, and that maybe the "perfect" ending will be after the final battle, the camera blurs and pulls away until it morphs into an actual tabletop session, and the players are a bunch of teenagers, with maybe "Uncle" Matt Mercer doing the DM honors.
This makes it so much better the cast is amazing
The only D&D I'm familiar with is the one on The Big Bang Theory when the four friends play this on occasion. But I must say this does look interesting. Also, not the first time Chris Pine is in a non-actiony sort of role despite being a main character.
They didn’t even do a good job of it in that show. It was for nothing but laughs and wasn’t exactly like it. Theirs other shows that have done a better job at it. I believe community did. Idk I can’t remember but D&d is super fun for sure and u should totally pick it up if u have the time and people to play it with (if not u can find people online probably).
And that’s the whole point of a Bard. They are generally made fun of and not the up close and personal badass characters. They are the ones that normally stay back and encourage their allies and smooth talk their way out of situations. So it makes sense that his character is like this.
The action-comedy tone reflects the reality of pretty much every D&D campaign ever. Even ostensibly "serious" campaigns inevitably have this sort of humor in them, and most campaigns I've played in or run (and I've been doing it since the early 1980's when I was in middle school) defintely have the action comedy vibe. I think (from the trailer at least) they really nailed the correct tone for a D&D movie. A "serious" D&D movie (with the tone of the Witcher, or GoT or Rings of Power) would have just been tedious pretentious nonsense.
I love the forgotten realms and can't wait for this movie.. the forgotten realms have unique specific rules, it will not be like vox machina.. there are many d&d universes..
Trailer looks good, hope the actual movie doesn't turn out like Hellboy (2019).
what's wrong with Hellboy?
@@theawesomeman9821 2019 hellboy was absolute garbage both story and cgi wise
Cool video. Looks like quite a bit of fun movie.
nice! critical role is amazing
many DnD campaigns are basically a bunch of friends sitting around a table, moving their characters through an adventure and cracking jokes about things that happen in the game, the bad luck with dice, and inside jokes developed both in game and meta during the campaign... humour is a frequent ingredient to the experience, but it is also a very personal and self referential thing, so injecting it broadly into the plot may be hit or miss... previous DnD movies that I urge you not to ever watch, had a few "Funny" characters that were just atrocious to watch
I patiently waited for S2 of The Legend of Vox Machina and immediately watched those three episodes. Can't wait for your reaction! ...annnnd...The Defenders? Pleeeeaaase
I don't know I Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley got what it takes to make this movie work
All I know is that it takes ambition to make a videogame adaptation work
That's why THE LAST OF US worked so well
Legends of Vox Machina isn't all humor like a certain Marvel movie. It has heart and lets you breath in emotions. It isn't all action either. I hope this movie is first of all Longer than 2 hours to have time for all this humor and action and secondly gives aaall these characters ample time to breathe on screen.
Edit: Oh well never mind! 😅😍 Can't wait to see what you think though! ❤️ Love your reactions to shows.
Getjaby changed names ?
They shoul d have cased it off the 80s cartoon.
If anything, Dungeons and Dragons inspired Vox Machina. The game of Dungeons and Dragons has been around since I want to say the 1980s. A lot of people enjoy playing this tabletop role-playing game. Recently, there has been some contention between the company that owns the rights and some of the fans. My brother plays this game with his friends and he's played a lot of role-playing games over the years. I have no intention or interest in watching Vox Machina as it isn't my thing. From what I've gathered, this is a lot of elements of a D&D campaign that any group of friends can come up with via the dungeon master. Do you want a wild D&D story? 100% true. In London, Ontario, Canada there is a guy who has been playing the same campaign with his friends for over 40 years. He has a job, family, and house. Yet he still plays this game in what used to be his basement.
1974
Tbh, I barely know Chris Pine, maybe have heard of Michelle once or twice, but the other party members I have never heard of. I hope the story is good.
It was.But still it flopped 😶
The movie may have a really hard row to hoe. Recent upheaval between the parent companies of the D&D property, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, may keep hard core fans from supporting the movie . . . or maybe not. The situation is very fluid right now 🙂
Yeah, I want to like this, but I'm not going to support WotC/Hasbro if they continue to sabotage creators.
The way I see it is Wotc have always been kinda shit... Also they enjoyed a certain monopoly. With this little scandal, now other products are being pushed into the limelight and it really is a net win for players in the long run. Regarding the movie, eh it is a dumb fantasy movie that looks like it might be fun. I wouldn't read much into it.
hey confused,, 1 day ago but u wear same items as a video that says a few hours ago.
new location background?
Looks like the man of the house got booted off his own channel 😂
CinePals? OK 🤨
The first trailer gave me hope this could be _great,_ but the "stagey humor" in this one... lessened that hope. The bridge-trap-oopsie bit was just _awful._ I hope there's at least _some_ genuine drama in the story and not just stacked scenes of quips and zaniness.
Regardless, it's a skilled cast, and the FX + Action looks good.
But that’s how sessions are is just quips so stuff like that makes sense. I’m sure their will be serious moments but going based on how sessions are theirs gonna be a lot of jokes being made in between the serious moments. That’s just how it is. It looks amazing and this is the road they should take cause it makes it actually feel like D&d. Think of it like guardians of the galaxy. All the characters are awesome and their was serious moments in it but their was a lot of jokes to it which added to the charm of it. I’m sure they will do a good job with it like guardians of the galaxy.
Where are the Daredevil s3 reactions? :(
They need to watch defenders
😢Is Jaby leaving the channel?
No. It's just that the channel has grown to point where it's not just him, and he's not in every video. So the name change makes sense.
I will say, it's not a DND movie unless someone sticks a sword at close range into a dragon's snout and misses 😆 Or has stupid amount of luck and one shot kills a dragon. Also the line "The wrong person stole the wrong thing and unleashed the greatest evil the world has ever known" is hilarious considering the OGL debacle. The best unintentional self own by Hasbro lmao
This looks so horrible. Hollywood still doesn't understand D&D.
Tf u mean? This legit looks amazing.
I don't really like the Marvel-ized version of D&D.
Ah yes, if something contains comedy, its Marvel-ized... Sure buddy
@CinePals @Getjaby: been watching yall's channel for at least 2 years now, which gotta say I'm a fan! Love all your content! Was wondering if you could watch a really cool video that I request? And I'd like to see the trio, Jaby, Achara, and Steph react to it. This video is from an airplane simulator called DCS or Digital Combat Simulator. All the flying that you see in this video is done by people who fly in this simulator. This is the most realistic simulator out there! And, it's got realistic callouts, action, and it's intense. It keeps you on the edge of your seat watching this wild ride! It's kind of similar to the final Top Gun Maverick mission. I'd be really happy if you guys reacted to this video! The video is called '' DCS Cinematic ELI 21 by Adrian Caparzo! And, if you guys like it, then I have another request! Thank You!
