That's sadly like that nowadays, buying the game on amazon for 10 bucks more is actually more worth it than on their website, cause you get almost everything from the gold edition
The Ubisoft pricing structure is insane to me. I am going to wait six months for a 50% off season sale or something like that. I want to play this game not at 75 plus dollars.
Main characters in every Assassin's Creed game have always been fictional characters based on their country of origin. Any historical figure has always been a side character or supporting character. Now, they have made an exception for this game to have a real person, an African man in a Japanese land setting, as their main character. They claim he was a historical legendary samurai who was only in Japan for 13 months. without any surname or wars and battles to his name. He was only a retainer or helper for Oda Nobunaga because of his unique skin at that time. If you say all AC games are fiction, then why make a real person the main character and change history ? Why can't we have both characters be Japanese ?
It's a token piece idea. I mean did they pick Yaskue because of history interesting and the boring or they just picked him because you know skin color. I mean did Ubisoft pick him for his history or background seriously does anybody think Ubisoft's first thought was his actual history and not his skin color.
Yeah, this comments and accurate because here’s the thing regardless of his history. It doesn’t matter. This game series has always taken a different route when it comes to portraying history you ever heard the term historical fiction. Also, it’s a sci-fi game series at the same time of course it’s gonna be historically accuracy. It doesn’t matter. It’s an alternate version of our history. Told three different lens, if you’re playing this game for historical accuracy, then no offense but you played yourself. You’re a fool. Second, no not every character in this franchise is from the setting in their game, Edward is not from the West Indies. He’s a white man a pirate Ezio is an Italian man who is running around Istanbul in revelations that’s not his hometown. That’s not his culture. Eivor another good example. She’s literally a foreigner who moves from a different country. Sure, we start out in Norway her home country but it’s such a small section of the game. It doesn’t really count. If you’re gonna try to make an argument, at least do a little more research
@@FootballTransfersDaily it's more of me not trusting Ubisoft really caring about the actual person and not seeing just his skin color as some sort of token piece. Yaskue seems rather cool in real life just worried that he's being used
yeah man he was DEFINITELY A SAMURAI. And it was definitely interesting. You know? How he never fought in a battle? Do you ubi fanboys get your political and historical lessons from Netflix?@@FootballTransfersDaily
They just made it more clear, because if you look at the edit history, it says that he was a Kashin. "Kashindan (家臣団) was an institution of the retainers (kashin) of the shogun or a daimyo in Japan that became a class of samurai."
@@DG_427 No, the kashindan did not become a solid samurai class until the Edo period. Until then, a kashin could be anything between a peasant vassal to a lord or what you would call a samurai. The fact that Yasuke was sent back the the Jesuits after his services was terminated and how Yasuke did not commit seppuku after Oda Nobunaga's death strongly suggests that the conduct expected of a samurai were not expected of him. In short, he was most certainly not what you would call a samurai. Moreoever, Japanese historical court records are pretty airtight in this era. The fact that there is no official document from Oda Nobunaga's court bestowing Yasuke a specific duty other than bearing weapons and/or granting of a fiefdom is basically indicative of the fact that Yasuke was never adopted into the samurai class.
It's cute that y'all think a Samurai is a Samurai because of battle. It's also cute that y'all think a "retainer" means slave. Hey, when you pay a lawyer a "retainer" does that make them your slave? Ridiculous. Yasuke was a high ranking Samurai in Nobunaga's inner circle. He was given a stipend, a home, land, servants, and a room in all of the castles that Nobunaga controlled. He travelled with Nobunaga and was considered by many at that time to be one of Nobunaga's personal guards. Did he get that position because of his imposing size and skin color? More than likely, but that doesn't change the FACTS. Which is that he was a SAMURAI and he is historically accurate. There is artwork from that time period depicting Yasuke. There is a statue that still stands today that historians believe to be a statue of Yasuke. The most important fact out of them all though, ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THAT MATTERS. Those of you upset that Yasuke is in the game would've been upset regardless of the context because it is only about his skin. If Yasuke were not in the game then y'all would be upset that the main character is a female and would probably be calling the game Assassin's Creed: SHE-dows or something. Y'all aren't happy unless you have something political to whine about. Stop being disingenuous and just come out and say it. You'd get more respect that way.
Ppl forgetting Ubisoft already has two AC games with black protagonist. Yeah they weren’t mainline games . But they definitely didn’t get this much hate for a reason 💀
3 games with a black protagonist. Assassin’s Creed Origins took place in ancient Egypt and had Bayek and his wife Aya as playable characters. Everybody loved the game and the protagonists.
@@jcninja84people get angry about the choice they make because they did it to create controverse and sold the game, bayek was loved by the community because he is égyptien is egypte but a fictif character and yasuke is not a fictif character and not japanese but the second character is japanese and a fictif, so why they didn’t do the same with both character ? The japonese didn’t feel represented because in Japon is logical to thinks that we can play a japonese samourai , specialy when we talk about japonese who love their culture and story, the problem ll be the same if they choose to make us play a white man, in japon it’s logical to think we’ll play a japonese And in the begining of the game when they started the developpement of the game yasuke was not in it It’s the same problems if in unity they make us play an italien guys or a espagnol guys, I’m french so when unity came out it was logical for us to thinks that arnaud was french . The problem is all about the representation, it the same problem with the little mermaid
Because they didn't had to rewrite history for us to play as them...plus they were not the only black dude around at their time so people should stop acting like they don't understand the problem no way someone can be that stupid
Yall know damn well why nobody shitted on Bayek (and that game had plenty of black people with features like you’d see today in Harlem or in central Africa ) This has to do with the fact Ubisoft went out of their way to make the assasin creed game everyone wanted (Japan) and choose to put a black man as a protag. The same outrage would have happened if we had a white caucassian protag in a Aztec setting
I've been through every single AC game since I turned 18 in 2010. Same shit happened during AC3 and freedom cry DLC. Same thing happened with Origins (Bayeks voice actor recently came to Twitter saying here we go round 2) Like lol it ain't nothing new to me. What is new is the fact I'm dropping $130 on a game. That's just wild to me.
Nobody has a problem with black people or women. CJ,Lincoln Clay,James Heller, Lara Croft, Ade wali, Bayek, Ellie, Evie Frye etc etc. These are all beloved characters, the issue is Ubisoft making s**t games and hiding it behind politics shoved down our throats.
Nah, I was old enough to remember when San Andreas came out and MANY people were complaining about having to play as a black guy. They even made mods to turn CJ white
Then why dont you wait till the game is actually out before you shittalk a game that literally noone has seen any gameplay yet..... its literally just the Characters and the Time and Place that is known and you already be hating on it because the game is shit????? Yeah sure
@SymbiSpidey Bs, its one of the most beloved OG games from that era. This ubisoft political crap is different and has a huge amount of hate because of it, doesnt compare to the few people who had an issue with cj
First of all as a ametur japanese historian Yasuke is somewhat based in historical fact, but much of what he did is up for debate due to a lack of evidence proving his existence, so basically there is a 50/50 chance a true split between if he was a joke or a legitimate samurai, I don't lean on either side here. but here's my assumed history, YAsuke showed up in JApan with missionaries as a slave, Oda noticed the man's stature and basically took ownership of him, I can't be sure of if yasuke was kept around as a joke or legitimately trained in the samurai arts, but either way I assume he was kept around just because of his strength. my assumption is that when Oda died YAsuke was put under Oda's successor, when Oda's successor died, YAsuke went back to the missionaries and that's where his history seemingly cuts off. My professional opinion is this for after that cutoff, he was likely sent back home, or simply served as a ship hand. On Ubisoft's case, I understand why they're using Yasuke, he's a interesting if not quirky part of japanese history and its a good way of making AC shadows unique from GOT, And honestly for a man with almost no history to his name, I am excited to see what they do.
This is actually not a yearly release Ubisoft now has 2 teams 1 team makes the big assassin creed games the others make smaller once like mirage and then there a 3rd team that makes games that we don't know
As a Asian guy I’m just sad I can’t play as an Asian guy. I already normally can’t play as a Asian guy in 95% of games unless they have a character creator, even then most of the time they give us some of the most ass options available. I just end up with my character looking like a white guy with slightly slanted eyes. I don’t really care about any of the woke shit or whatever people are talking about, hell the price tag on this thing is more of a concern than there being a black guy. My only point is, it Literally could’ve just been two Japanese characters and it wouldn’t have changed anything I guarantee you that. I’ll forget about this whole thing in like an hour anyways so it doesn’t really matter either way.
Okay I understand you because your not targeting yasuke like the rest of these incels, BTW the ronin and ghost of tsushima were the greatest Japanese games I'm sure there gonna put in a asian male anyway I mean I see alot of yall in games like mk or apex
@@MenmaUzumaki-CW 😴 nah not me. I have never EVER played an AC, its way too fanfiction for me 😂 I just dont get the hate from americans towards the game. On the other hand, there's a shit ton of jap games, perhaps not the genre the OP plays, like sekiro (I play mostly souls) or the jrpgs that have, well, japanese guys as protags
So apparently due to leaks AC shadows will be the first to introduce the ac infinity hub thing. Ubi apparently also wants to do the smaller AC games like mirage in between the big releases like red and hexe. Then the leaks also said we are gettinng a coop AC game and a free to play AC game similar to the old multiplayer modes. Not sure if the coop one is free but infinity will work like fortnite and you access everything through it. They kinda teased this idea in unity when tou get to choose an assassin memory at the start and it has different options from different time periods. We could only choose the france one cause well it was part of thegame. But how the leaks described infinity, reminded me of that
You make some good solid points, we’re basically arguing about first world problems to be honest but as much as I hate to admit it, I do see a nefarious agenda being woven into modern games, movies, and other forms of entertainment. I’m not saying everything is a red herring but how many times can you spot a coincidence before you see it as intentional?
I do believe there are media that are guilty of this. I just know that this trailer is not one of them. All I’m seeing is that they took an idea of a black person in Japan and implemented it into the game, who is not even the complete main character. Now if the story turns out to be on some woke stuff I’ll agree but that’s something we’ve yet to see.
Yeah, that agenda is called money. They don't care if you're gay, straight, right, left, whether your shit stinks or smells like roses. All they care about is that that money is green and everyone has it. And they want all the money.
Assassin's Creed 1 - set in Holy Land. Protagonist: Syrian Assassin's Creed 2 - set in Italy. Protagonist: Italian Assassin's Creed 3 - set in America. Protagonist: Native American Assassin's Creed Black Flag - set in West Indies where Pirates of different nationalities gather. Protagonist: Welsh Assassin's Creed Unity - set in France. Protagonist: French Assassin's Creed Syndicate - set in London. Male and Female protagonists: British Assassin's Creed Origins - set in Egypt. Male and Female protagonists: Egyptian Assassin's Creed Odyssey - set in Greece. Male/Female protagonist: Greek/Spartan Assassin's Creed Valhalla - set in Norway/England. Male/Female Protagonist: Viking Assassin's Creed Mirage - set in Baghdad. Protagonist: Arab Now why can't they do the same and have both Male and Female protagonists as Japanese when it's set in Japan?
It's funny how you conveniently skipped assassin's creed revelation where it's set in Constantinople, Turkey, where the protagonist is Italian and not Turkish 😂
@@TheNaturex20 Of course it's not a crime but it doesn't fit with how AC has created it's protagonists over the years. Yasuke can be a main character, he just shouldn't be one in Assassin's Creed due to being a historical figure, which should put him in the supporting cast to be fair.
It’s funny they having this conversation now when in the first game there is a literal female Templar during the fucking crusades, if you know that time period you know there was no way in hell that shit was happening 😂 that was the first game , we boxed the fucking pope but yasuke is the problem now?
They addressed it though. They showed the entire cast shocked at Maria's existance, emphasising how unusual it was for that time for someone like her to be a Templar. In this game, they could have at least mentioned how unlikely it was for this man to be a samurai. There could have been a build up to it. Maria got a build up. It was explained her original master took pity on her, and how, being a less traditional Templar with unorthodox beliefs, decided to give it her a shot.
@@TheNaturex20fair enough. But the developers didn't even try to use that example, so there's no proof they're going to use it. They didn't with Angrboda. If you're gonna race swap, at least present an interesting reason, like saying Angrboda is the daughter of an African goddess with a Giant, or her human form maintains her Giant's color skin. I wouldn't have a problem with that.
you guys are delusional. black ppl looking for their happiness. why dont you stop appearing in policeactivity gopro cams and lower that crime % in the world
Funny thing is, its not even inaccurate. These people literally don't know Japanese history and can't figure out the differences between Edo and Sengoku periods.
@@Darth_Bateman In the first scenery part, there are cherry blossoms(happens in spring), rice pads filled with water(a summer thing), tall brown grass(an autumn thing) and cranes (they come to Japan during the winter). They just crammed everything they know about Japan in one scene. Plus, samurais don't walk in the streets in armor. Same as the chick. Females don't carry swords especially on their backs🤣
I ask maybe that look at the people this is based on. That is like taking a black character and making them white after already having done racist things to them, and having people say that their feelings and thoughts are not valid. Quite a bit of the drama is because they disrespected us and people lying trying to change our history. Mocking us as well. It's not that he is black as much as it is why they put a black man in the game. Yasuke was a kosho. The word samurai was not even around then. There were names for different ranks and importance. Yasuke was a slave sadly. Our problem is that people are supporting a company that is not even basing the place accurately to our own but other places can have historicaly accurate along with the race of the people and mythology/religions of the times. We just are tired of these companies discriminating against us and trying to take our media and change it while saying horrible things about us.
@dontrealjackson6887 we have but no one cares what Japanese people say about the game made about them. Because they just want to give money to racist companies that have been racist to use for a long while. If it was a black person being turned white you would be mad. This case is similar for use because you don't care to know samurai was only a term made after this time period and that he was a koshou and not higher ranking then that of bushi. But yes it's okay to be racist and disrespect/ mock Japanese and Asians like you all have for years. It's okay to give black man Japanese accent and claim things that ain't true then attack use because you are lying and mocking us. He was not native to Japanese and if anything would have an Indian accent because he was in India for quite a bit of his life. But let's ignore the fact we called out the lie of having a konichi and that Shinobi were spies and busho would also be Shinobi or do Shinobi style missions for the Shogun and emperor.
Assassin's creed is a series where you fight the pope, George Washington became a mad tyrant, and you fight glitches manifesting as egyptian gods. The entire series is about using what's basically a time machine to locate information about secret organizations and an alien artifact. It's always been fiction inspired by certain time periods and locations. How are these companies discriminating against you and taking your media and changing it when even japanese games like Nioh and samurai warrior and some anime/mangas depict him as a samurai? Plenty of people's stories blur into mythology and yasuke is no different.
@@MegaVirus700 your argument is invalid by one point. Using horrible points to support racism is bad. But if it was done to any other race then it would have been canceled. First off George Washington using magic fits the religions/mythology of most Americans/ Europeans. Third off they mock us and if you knew anything about Japan. The buildings, and architecture was not Japanese in shadows. It was Chinese and Korean. They don't even actually base stuff on us unless big Japanese companies work on it as well. Fourth they have taken our media and disrespected it along with insulting us. Things like anime, manga, games (including pokemon and persona 5 as two big name examples that have been affected by you people) along with companies even being disrespected by you Americans and you having our games be made to be a certain way in which you "like it" final fantasy 7 rebirth was one of these games. Each area in the original had a specific race, religion, region in mind. But that was completely ignored even though it's in the lore of final fantasy 7 and even deals with things like racism but you all wanted to not add that in but make several characters who were not of that race something different. Race swapping like that is racist as well as insulting the people who made the story when it was talking about dealing with this. Not just that but you Americans support those voice actors who have taken drastic changes in dialogue that don't fit with what we have said in our language, know what we actually have said then attack us for being upset when you add political lines in our shows and media. There was always a problem with certain franchises that you don't care to hear because you will ignore to support this. Its disgusting. Also your argument of yasuke was used in anime so it should be fine. No should not without our permission when it's trying to be "based" off us. Every other race gets main characters that fit their race and times. Even with mythological elements. But we get only one and a black person who is murdering our own people. Doubt you could understand since you all have stayed racist to Japanese since WW2 including in your movie casting. Unless we get involved you place Korean people to play us which is disrespectful and racist. Nioh was a different case and made from someone who was actually called a samurai. The people who are uneducated would just call any person Japanese with a sword samurai. That is something your media has pushed far to much. It was a ranking and samurai was not even a label till later on. Yasuke was a kushoü or retainer. Someone who holds the Lord's swords and does things for him. He was not in any form of history a Japanese warrior or native to Japan. They gave him an accent and tried changing history sites to make him seem like he was something he was not. Unlike with nioh. That is just you saying you are uneducated and extremely racist again. People like you and Jonnysmali are the reason we don't want people even coming over. You stomp on our culture like you have for years and the pretend to not be monsters. We used to and still are the ones that suffer from the most racist things you all do, which is ironic because you claim to care about minorities but Asian and Japanese are a minority within a minority.
Essentially you are telling everyone "You're racist because he is black" but you also saying Japanese people calm down there are other games to play as a male Japanese. You are already saying AC is trash, so your topic is 'the character is black we shouldn't be mad about that.' So what is your bone in this convo? You are not AC fan or Japanese? What makes your opinion have any weight in this and telling us that we shouldn't be mad?
I know this video is just pure clickbait and it got me. But I am tired everytime I see a black man/woman in media there is a high chance it will be shit. You should be mad that the black man is the main character, when you believe the game is going to be trash. If it's going to be trash at least have a male Japanese, there is no need to bring in a token black man to a poor written/ buggy game.
You are straw manning the yell out of what he said. He was saying that people are making such a big deal about a black man being in an Asian setting. Which sounds bad on paper. But when you look at it objectively, not only is it not a big deal at all. He tells people to go play other games with Japanese protagonist because people’s favorite argument is “well ugh I wanted a MALE Japanese protagonist.” Which you can indeed do in many MANY other games. You don’t need to be of Asian decent to have an opinion on this.
I have no prob with Yasuke but tbh, Im kinda dispointed on how Ubi try to tell a story. I kinda want Yasuke to be an assassin from outside JP who been capture as slave by Templar. Then after Yasuke be with Oda Nobunaga, He try to help some random kid from war then teach them about world outside Japan(brotherhood and Templar) then teach the kid to be an assassin(ninja) now we have Yasuke who are not Samurai but doing thing behind the scenes for fantasy part. Then if the game is really good(story part) they can make DLC about Yasuke and I bet everyone who buy it gonna be people who really want to play as Yasuke. now everyone happy.
Fair enough, but I think where the hate comes from is that there were other historical figures they could have used that were not just more relevant, but awesome as well. I would much rather play as Hattori Hanzo who was both a samurai and assassin than a guy I have no idea about and which a lot of people don’t. He pretty much is the ideal candidate. So then why Yasuke and not someone like Hanzo? I guess you could say that because he isn’t as known then they can take more liberties with him but if they are willing to bend historical accuracy and what not for Yasuke then they could have done it with Hanzo. It really doesn’t make any sense and because of that then the only answer seems to be wokeness. In the other AC games when they were two main characters, they were still the same ethnicity as well. Also keep in mind people have wanted an Asian AC game for years and the closest we got was Red which was only a side scroller and when we finally get this, it is years after people were asking about it and we get some guy most people don’t know about. That’s my two cents anyways. No respect and overall good video
@@bluesky4945 Thank you very much. I would not be surprised if they added Yasuke on purpose to hide behind the fact that he was, at the very least, a real person and therefore could add a black person for the sake of “diversity.”
Game is prolly going to be a banger mirage wasn't good and I knew ppl love the original a c stealth but if it's like vahalla with mystery around the world different weapon types and combat styles its goi g yo be off the charts and alot of fun foreal I'm not the biggest Assassin's Creed fan at all with how the stealth and stuff like that but Assassin's Creed Valhalla was amazing to be honest I hope it's less like mirage and more like vahalla
1:14 that actually is the case here, in Japan i assume too considering the culture. In fact i was shocked when i saw one 7 years ago, because i forgot they existed
Because as potential fans and consumers of the end product we have done our job at pointing out what we want. Now they can't complain if the game fails hard
What you need to understand is that in "AC 1", it's explained that the historical innacuracies happen mostly because through out the centuries of that universe, historical records were either changed or forgotten, so, in that universe's context, people forget about certain details like the magical artifacts. Another thing that needs to be pointed out is that they addressed how unusual Maria's (AC 1) existance was. They showed the entire cast was shocked at Maria's existance, emphasising how unusual it was for that time a woman to be a Templar. In this game, they could have at least mentioned how unlikely it was for this man to be a samurai. There could have been a build up to it. Maria got a build up. It was explained her original master took pity on her, and how, being a less traditional Templar with unorthodox beliefs, decided to give it her a shot.
Exactly this. The historical inaccuracies in AC 1 could all be explained diagetically and were acknowledged in-universe. Ubisoft however has thrown all subtext and nuance out of the window and gone all-out with their blatant historical whitewashing and inaccuracies. There is absolutely no suspension of disbelief when you have a black man in feudal japan wearing full samurai armor saying "we work in the shadows".
@@caligulamaximus6186he’s not going to be an assasin you jackass. He’s clearly going to work out in the open trying to help the assassins since he’s a trusted right hand man of nobunaga. If you knew anything about the sengoku-jidai or even paid attention to the trailer this would be very clear to you. But all you could focus on was “BLACK MAN BAD”
"Historical records were either changed or forgotten" yeah but god forbid the same logic applies to a black man in Japan whose existence is already not very well recorded. You guys are even hearing yourselves? How is this any different?
Really good thoughts! However, I don’t think the uproar around this game is isolated to this one release. It’s the compounding pressure of numerous releases being negatively impacted by militant DEI agencies. If this game had been released without all the rest of the crap going this year or the past 5 years, people probably would complain but it wouldn’t receive this much backlash. Still, I think you made a good point. If they wanted to put a black guy it, just say that. Don’t try to come up with an elaborate cover story. I’d disagree that it’s not woke. By the admission of its own developers, many are afraid to say anything for fear of being fired. They have one of the most aggressive DEI departments in the industry. The last thing I’ll comment on is the “if they made an African game and made the person white” part. I don’t black people would be good with a Black Panther game with a white protagonist even if they included a black female on the side. And if the developers were like, “we just wanted a white guy as the lead,” you better believe people would be livid. Enjoyed the vid though bro. Thanks for bringing it to the public space for discussion!
Personally, the « samurai or retainer » debate is irrelevant to me since the game wouldn’t have been THAT historically accurate anyway. But can we please stop pretending that out of ALL the historical figures (which weren’t actually playable before by the way) available in japan , going out of your way to pick the ONE black guy as a protagonist instead of having him be a character you encounter along the way isn’t blatantly shallow (yes even with Naoe)? Especially coming from Ubisoft?
My problem is not with Yaskai, it with playing as a historical figure. The point of assains creed is to play as an original character who operates in the shadows and changes history without being recogmized for it. Playing as a known historical figure defeats the whole purpose. Yusukai should be a side character or a main NPC character. The only way I can see this working is if he isn't an assassin and when you play as him you just fight as a warrior without stealth or espionage.
I am so happy that a lot more people are actually defending this game because when I try to search up this game and people's trailer all I get is hate on the game and there are some docs of yasake being a samurai
It so sad to see naoe being completely overshadowed from this situation, ive personally always wanted a female Asian protagonists so thats who im mostly gonna be playing as, but you can bet ill be playing yasuke alot to especially since what was shown in the cinematic trailer all the fighting choreography is taking directly from the game
Are you forgetting that there's two protagonists? There's yasuke and naoe, a shinobi. I would be 100% on board with an ac game set in Africa with both an African and a boer protagonist
Boer a member of the Dutch and Huguenot population that settled in southern Africa in the late 17th century. By its very definition they were settled in Africa. Meaning it's very much possible because there's already a historical context. It's just a question whether or not they would want to go with an original character who was a boer or a historical figure like they're doing now. Kind of shot yourself in the foot with this one.
You make it sound like black people have a choice in this? Hello COD, ghost recon there are hella games with white characters in Africa that didn't involve the meltdowns you're having over this
I honestly agree with what you said in the video, some people just seem to want to complain about anything. When it comes to Assassins creed, at this point, it is tradition to complain/make outrage of something to do with the games/series/Ubisoft. The price, however, is ridiculous.
I'm a bit late, but i finally found a person that understands that its a assassins creed game and that the protagonists have never been historically acurate or even real figuers, and that they chose yasuke precisley because he had little to no documents about him letting them create a story based of a real historical figure, its not like ubisoft is saying that he was a samurai and that it is historical fact that he was, they even said so themselves that little was known about yasuke, this is why they thought he was the perfect fit as a protagonist.
I for one belive in factual evidence and do not think he was made a samurai especially due to Japan's wariness of those who are not japanese to put it litley and Oda Nobunaga woul never have been able to apoint him as a samurai due to the distain many had for foreigners, it is said he was a weapons bearer or an close attendant and ordinary warrior not a samurai, however even this has little proof to go along with it, quite frankly I see no problem if he was a real samurai as that would be historical fact and an amazing feat as the first Black samurai, however their is no hard historical documents stating that he was made a samurai, I'm sorry for the long rant just stating that He was real, Oda Nobunaga was intrigued by him, and he was most likely a warrior and close aid to Nobunaga but judging by the time period he was in it is unlikely he would have been made a samurai due to the racism and destain many of Nobunagas advisors and samurai would have had for a foreigner such as yasuke at the time. especially since nobunaga was bent on unifying Japan under his leadership.
Sorry but got to add one more point a game characters skin colour should not matter it harms no one unless ubisoft started stating that it was undisputed fact Yasuke was a samurai then I personally would have problems but, why should skin colour matter its a game charcter, and yes as a man I normally prefer playing as a male character in games if given the choice but I find no problem with the female protagonists like Aloy who was extremely well written and created, anyway its a game they never said that factualy yasuke was a samurai, and anyway in reality he was a real man and Nobunaga being the man he is was intrigued by his skin colour and him in general saying he wasn't real would be like stating William Adams wasn't real, or Julius ceaser or any other historical figure wasn't.
@Titus.70bce yes you do have a point there, and I can't deny that, but again, for the time period in question and the obviousness that Nobunaga will be playing a significant role in the story a person like yasuke is a good fit as he is a historical figure who has little written about him letting them create a new story around the factual things, and I do agree that having all protagonists be japanese might have been more enticing for some and more imersive, its just doesn't matter greatly Japan's history is a long one with many significant points and battles such as Sekigahara might not of spelt it right but my point is however unlikely they could create another one based in japan in at different point in time. @@I.PRIM3 your point defeats itself. 16th century Constantinople was the capital of the Ottoman Empire and one of the largest and richest fin in oak and merchant centers in the world, literally where East met west. It was full of foreigners. Likewise, the Caribbean was full of foreigners, many of them pirates/privateers working for, at least nominally, European governments. There’s nothing unusual about those protagonists, whereas Shadows is clearly a DEI insert. Japan of the time does share any of the characteristics of a Constantinople or Caribbean, it was an insular country distrustful of outsiders. Also, what does Constantinople being a cultural Mecca have to do with not creating a native protagonist? Bayek’s story literally took place in EGYPT during Roman occupation, when ALEXANDRIA, one of the most well known cities in history, was in its prime. Let the record show that the bulk of people who are either pro Yasuke or anti Yasuke are not black people, but surface level non-black activists who fight on our behalf. And the black people who are talking about this subject, we're either neutral, don't care, or are just saying "Hey, Yasuke was a real person" and we leave it at that. We skew more towards Call of Duty, GTA, sports games, and fighting games... with the occasional rpg like Warframe, Final Fantasy, and others. Black culture does get demonized, and much of our pre slavery has been hidden or obscured. But I do like the idea of a black Assassin from sub saharan/west African region. Perhaps their gimmick could be gathering herbs and chemicals to use for poisons and concoctions. Perhaps even the utilization of prayers and rituals that cause confusion, blindness and at higher levels even time delayed death.
Unfortunately theres still the issue that theres a large mass of online racists who go out of their way to intentionally discriminate. Plus, there were black people in Japan, and I'm pretty sure Yasuke was a real dude Ubisoft is just using that as a way to tell a potentially new story.
@@MrBruh-kb7fb oh of course there were, and still are black people in Japan and greater Asia. Not just immigraters, but there do exist darker skinned Asians and aboriginal peoples. Actually, it would be interesting. Imagine 2 MC - a white colonizer and a black native in Africa and at some point, their destinies intertwine... Kinda like AC4. The main problem I have with Yasuke is that I don't think he's going to be an interesting character. They could have used much more interesting characters for the main role. Or better, come up with a completely new one, as they always did. Oh, and another problem is the way UbiQuebec portrayed him. At one point he winked at the girl, at another he started posturing (which is completely out of place). I swear, at some point, I thought he'd start dancing and rapping, and at the end, Yasuke and Naoe were going to fist bump.
@@user-ee8eo4hi6q see, already you were able to come up with a cool story for that proposed idea, like it’s not that hard to see why it was interesting lol 😂 It’s fair to be concerned for his character, the Yasuke Anime made him horribly dull, and we don’t know how any of the characters are, but the one thing assassins creed has done at least in my opinion has been that they know who their Main characters are, and usually they are likable, like I didn’t like Basim at all in Valhalla, and then I played Mirage, and while that game as a whole was meh to me, I left it with new found fondness for Basims character. I don’t really follow the wink criticism, it’s in the late 1500s, I think the first ever use of a wink was in 1100, so it’s not like he can’t wink that’s kinda wild. I found the wink at the girl to be quite sweet, he saw how she was staring at him, and from what we do know of Yasuke Japanese people when they first saw him were in awe, cause they had never seen a black guy before. I’m sure he’d gotten that look before, and from an innocent child it’s a sweet little gesture for a innocent interaction you know, that’s how I looked at it I’m not gonna go into why it’s a little weird the first thing you thought the black guy was gonna do after he winked was Dance and Rap, like… come on, but yeah like I said I didn’t get that vibe at all

Here is a true question, How many characters in Assassin's Creed (AC 1 through AC Valhalla) were playable and if any of them were true historical people from the past? The ANSWER is very simple, 15 Playable Fictional Characters and “NONE” of them were true historical people of the past! All the "playable" characters in AC 1 through AC Valhalla were all fictional characters, Yasuke was a real historical person who was nothing more than a retainer, not a samurai. Yasuke IS A REAL HISTORICAL BLACK MAN WHO WAS NOTHING BUT A RETAINER FOR Oda Nobunaga! "Real Historical Person," Yasuke was and is but a "Retainer." The other Assassin's Creed characters from Assassin's Creed 1 through Assassin's Creed Valhalla are "Fictional," characters that DO NOT EXIST IN ACTUAL HISTORY. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad (Fictional Character), Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Fictional Character), Captain Edward James Kenway (Fictional Character), Adéwalé (Fictional Character), Aveline de Grandpré (Fictional Character), Bayek of Siwa (Fictional Character), Alexios and Kassandra (Fictional Characters), Basim Ibn Ishaq (Fictional Character), and others that are not based in our past historical history. That is why I always stated to other people that 80% is Fact because of True History for Assassin's Creed Video Games, then there is the 20% Fiction that has "People", Places, Items, and other things that are in the game, are not in our past history. Yasuke "IS A TRUE HISTORICAL PERSON IN JAPAN," NOT A FICTIONAL CHARACTER, you can say, "fantasy," all you want but we all know that Yasuke is a real black man who was a retainer, not trained to use the katana, he cleaned Nobunaga's Katana's and other weapons that is what a retainer does. Sorry to say in true historical words and more true blunt historical words Yasuke was a retainer meaning he was a servant to Oda Nobunaga. Not my words but in actual dictionary definitions, Retainer is a person attached or owing service to a household especially a: SERVANT or b: EMPLOYEE. There’s discrepancies in Japanese history about Yasuke and we don’t know he was a retainer or a samurai that was trained. There is basically no actual documentation except for a few stories, but stories can change over time because of different perspectives, different things happening different mindset. Just like for example, that if you say something from a long time ago by word-of-mouth, then someone says it in a different word or words than that word-of-mouth or whatever you said can be different. And we cannot forget about WWII that many things could’ve been lost because of the war, and we may never know from certain items to certain documentations were burnt or been completely annihilated because of the two bombs, but we don’t know. I’m not saying that this can be a true story or not but all we know that he was nothing more than a retainer and that is it. I am sorry to say, but until there is actual more evidence like where is Yasuke Katana sword? Where is it? Does anyone know? Because if you have that sword and it has his name on it and approves that he was a samurai, but in the end, no sword, no proof that he was a samurai. Both Greed and WOKE is the message and agenda on both UBISOFT and Sweet Baby Inc. and Black Gamer Girls, and DEI Money. There is no story or the Hero's Journey in this game. Assassin's Creed is just now a "Shadow Shell," of itself and an empty husk. You know if only the Baka writer read Japanese History a lot closer than instead of 2 characters to play, there could be only 1 character to play. There was an opportunity they could have used instead of a fictional black samurai character and in real history he was a retainer not a samurai. If only they read Japanese history carefully and throughly they could have made the only one Japanese Female Assassin Character. Combined both true history and fiction, Japanese women at the time did learn to use a particular weapon called, "Naginata," a Polearm weapon with a curved blade at the top. While the katana sword tends to be associated with male samurai of Japan, a distinctive weapon called the naginata has been traditionally associated with women and female fighters known as onna-bugeisha. This could have been the base of a Japanese Assassin's Creed Story, with a Japanese Woman who learned to use the Naginata and eventually learns the way of the Assassin's Brotherhood. Do you know why they don’t want to make a game based in Africa, especially in Assassin’s Creed well because in actual history, many of the warring tribes enslaved their own kind. In about 90% or even 80% of the black population of today, don’t want to admit that their own kind in Africa, their own ancestors in Africa enslaved their own kind. This is why they don’t want to make any Assassin’s Creed games based in Africa. I know they already did Egypt, but I am talking other African countries or places in Africa other than Egypt like South Africa, Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and the other 48 African countries.
I'm not reading all that. My issue is they changed Wikipedia and encyclopedia Britannica to rewrite history to fit their narrative and run damage control. Yeah I have a huge problem with that bs. You're full of conjecture and parade it around like fact. How many other amazing places on earth have they not yet centered an assassin's creed game on? A ton. Good grief
AC is all about History while playing with it to create unique interactions and stories that otherwise didn't happen. Who'd of thought. Yasuke instead upholds what they've done as we see various historical figure inclusions like: Leonardo Da Vinci: nobody complained that he helped Ezio nlt only repair and modify the Hidden Blade twice but he also studied the Apple of Eden too. He was a major supporting figure in a otherwise finctional plot but he's okay tobdo so. George Washington: at the forefront of AC3 where he allies himself with Ratonhnhaké:ton (Connor) who protects him from Charles Lee. In the DLC George Washington finds an Apple of Eden. It gave him a nightmarish vision of what would happen if he were crowned king of the United States with its power in his possession, and so he passed the Apple to Connor for it to be disposed of. The DLC goes into detail of what would happen it was called "The Tyranny of King Washington". Again no one batted an eye on how they altered history here. Jack the Ripper: Need I say more...his murder's are justified as became disillusioned with the Order, they weren't prostitutes they were assassins disguied as prostitute's. Cleopatra: making a final request to Aya to take her son Caesarion away from Egypt and train him as a Hidden One. Thats NOT FREAKING REAL.
We want japanese character to represent Japan, thats all. Its not hard to understand. If you're going to do an assassin, why not use the shadow clans like the Imbe clan, the Kamo clan, or the Hata clan? Why Yasuke, the page of Nobunaga? LOL The Hata clan = Ancient Israelites theory would be perfect for Assassin's Creed, as it ties in with the story of Assassin's Creed 1! It would make sense if Nobunaga was connected to the Imbe clan and you were building on that story.

African Samurai: The True Story of Yasuke, a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan written by Thomas Lockley and Geoffrey Girard. I suggest people read this book before speaking about the subject as if you know all the details. Assassin's creed games have always took liberty in their games to use the element of history to create an interesting story. if you don't like it, don't buy it. Art is subjective guys.
"I suggest people read this book before speaking about the subject" I would suggest people first watch the Thomas Lockley interview where he states he had barely any source material to work with and admits he had to "make some assumptions" to turn 13 sentences of source material into 480 pages of book. I would also suggest people look at the primary sources, the same sources Lockley had access to, to find out what contemporary sources wrote about Yasuke, which shows how wild Lockley's "assumptions" are. There is barely anything written about Yasuke. If it wasn't for Matsudaira Ietada, we wouldn't even know his name. Even the Shincho Koki doesn't even mention him joining Nobunaga. All it has is 5 sentences about how he was introduced to Nobunaga. Nothing after that. No description of his role, deeds, nothing. But we have people like Lockley and other "historians" that want to say he got into 50 battles and won every war for Nobunaga. NONE of this is mentioned by any contemporary source. What we have written about him is in the Shincho Koki (5 sentences), 3 Jesuit letters (a few sentences each) and Matsudaira Ietada's diary mentioning him once. That's it. That's all we know about him.

I suspect his position was Shoju or Genin, and apparently matsudaira's diary uses the word Genin, however I only been to find others mentioning what the diary says I haven't been able to look at the original source. Do you know what it says and can you show me.
care to tell me your source because as someone who is currently in Japan, this isn't true at all. ? twitter? Quick update the ratio to likes vs dislikes at Ubisoft Japan for this game atm is 3.4k likes vs 40k dislikes. Sorry allow to change my question what are you smoking? Copium?
It's a marketing strategy, why would you want to play as a Japanese guy in a stealth and combat-based game with the chance it might fail because it was developed by Ubisoft, when you can just be safe and go play Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Rise of Ronin? It's too generic and predictable, especially at the price of 129.99$ 😰. So they added Yasuke in place of a Male Japanese protagonist. Honestly, they could've had 3 options as a playthrough, Female and Male Japanese, and Yasuke as an option in the middle of the game. This would satisfy the baseless Xenophobia in the air from both Woke and Anti-Wokeism (because some use anti-wokeism as an excuse for dormant racism) and also to mark their diversity quota if that was even considered.
Remember when Da Vinci was a weapons dealer and Napoleon took over France with a magical artifact. Yeah. Me neither. Sh*t like that is fine to people but Yasuke being a samurai makes people cry out for historical accuracy. This sh*t is ridiculous.
In "AC 1", it's explained that the historical innacuracies happen mostly because through out the centuries of that universe, historical records were either changed or forgotten, so, in that universe's context, people forget about certain details like the ones you mentioned.
@@dariusporter358not really. When Maria (AC 1) was introduced, not only there was an explanation, they emphasised how unusual it was for a woman to be a Templar knight. They addressed it was a historical innacuracy and procceeded to explain the logic in it, since the first game's Templars disillusioned with their own religions and what they used to preach. As such, a black samurai should have been called out in this game as well. Someone should have pointed something like "The master took pity on this slave" or "He wanted to test a slave's strength.". They should have tied it into the bigger scheme somehow.
@@JabamiLain The game is not out yet. You don’t know if they will do that or not. Plus even if they don’t it doesn’t matter. The characters didn’t point it out for every single inaccuracy. They don’t need to point it out for Yasuke. But even if they did, I reiterate, you’re making judgements and saying they haven’t done this when the game only has 1 cinematic trailer. It’s not even out.
I still hate Ubisoft’s insane over pricing.
That's sadly like that nowadays, buying the game on amazon for 10 bucks more is actually more worth it than on their website, cause you get almost everything from the gold edition

Yaskue seems rather cool in real life just worried that he's being used

rewriting history is always bad period for example before the trailer wikepedia said that yasuke was not samurai but now it said that he his.
Yeah, they actually changed it on Wiki so people could use that as some sort of argument and go "see??! He WAS a Samurai". Cringe.
Everyone knows not to use wiki as a source. Should of learn that in middle school my boy
They just made it more clear, because if you look at the edit history, it says that he was a Kashin. "Kashindan (家臣団) was an institution of the retainers (kashin) of the shogun or a daimyo in Japan that became a class of samurai."
1984.. all people in the world should read this book

I think it’s because Bayek had a ethnically ambiguous look to him. If he had more central or South African features they probably would have cried too
@@jcninja84people get angry about the choice they make because they did it to create controverse and sold the game, bayek was loved by the community because he is égyptien is egypte but a fictif character and yasuke is not a fictif character and not japanese but the second character is japanese and a fictif, so why they didn’t do the same with both character ?
The japonese didn’t feel represented because in Japon is logical to thinks that we can play a japonese samourai , specialy when we talk about japonese who love their culture and story, the problem ll be the same if they choose to make us play a white man, in japon it’s logical to think we’ll play a japonese
And in the begining of the game when they started the developpement of the game yasuke was not in it
It’s the same problems if in unity they make us play an italien guys or a espagnol guys, I’m french so when unity came out it was logical for us to thinks that arnaud was french .
The problem is all about the representation, it the same problem with the little mermaid
Because they didn't had to rewrite history for us to play as them...plus they were not the only black dude around at their time so people should stop acting like they don't understand the problem no way someone can be that stupid
Yall know damn well why nobody shitted on Bayek (and that game had plenty of black people with features like you’d see today in Harlem or in central Africa )
This has to do with the fact Ubisoft went out of their way to make the assasin creed game everyone wanted (Japan) and choose to put a black man as a protag. The same outrage would have happened if we had a white caucassian protag in a Aztec setting
I've been through every single AC game since I turned 18 in 2010. Same shit happened during AC3 and freedom cry DLC. Same thing happened with Origins (Bayeks voice actor recently came to Twitter saying here we go round 2)

Well your examples prove nothing chief and if you are dumb enough to pay that much, why would anyone take your first sentences seriously?

This is actually not a yearly release Ubisoft now has 2 teams 1 team makes the big assassin creed games the others make smaller once like mirage and then there a 3rd team that makes games that we don't know
They’ve had two teams working on assassins creed ever since syndicate. And they added a third team for Mirage
Your source?
Would a shinobi samurai do good?

"Could have"? The game isnt even out yet.
@@fraydizs7302 but the developers could have already offered that explanation. The fact they didn't, means they won't put in game.
"Historical records were either changed or forgotten" yeah but god forbid the same logic applies to a black man in Japan whose existence is already not very well recorded. You guys are even hearing yourselves? How is this any different?
I dont care what they tell you in school, Yasuke was Cleopatra.

Exactly
My problem is not with Yaskai, it with playing as a historical figure.
The point of assains creed is to play as an original character who operates in the shadows and changes history without being recogmized for it.
Playing as a known historical figure defeats the whole purpose. Yusukai should be a side character or a main NPC character.
The only way I can see this working is if he isn't an assassin and when you play as him you just fight as a warrior without stealth or espionage.
Have you heard of Anastasia the main character of assassin creed chronicles Russia...no ?
There is VERY little information on yasuke's life after 1581 which leaves a LOT of room for fiction. Lots of media have adapted his character before✌

Are you forgetting that there's two protagonists? There's yasuke and naoe, a shinobi.
I would be 100% on board with an ac game set in Africa with both an African and a boer protagonist
Boer
a member of the Dutch and Huguenot population that settled in southern Africa in the late 17th century.
By its very definition they were settled in Africa. Meaning it's very much possible because there's already a historical context. It's just a question whether or not they would want to go with an original character who was a boer or a historical figure like they're doing now. Kind of shot yourself in the foot with this one.

I honestly agree with what you said in the video, some people just seem to want to complain about anything. When it comes to Assassins creed, at this point, it is tradition to complain/make outrage of something to do with the games/series/Ubisoft.
The price, however, is ridiculous.
Ac shadows sounds spectacular. From the gameplay mechanics to the dynamic between the two characters
And like someone else commented, even if the male protagonist was japanese, people would have tried to say it was just going to be a copy of Ghost of Tsushima

@@user-ee8eo4hi6q see, already you were able to come up with a cool story for that proposed idea, like it’s not that hard to see why it was interesting lol 😂
It’s fair to be concerned for his character, the Yasuke Anime made him horribly dull, and we don’t know how any of the characters are, but the one thing assassins creed has done at least in my opinion has been that they know who their Main characters are, and usually they are likable, like I didn’t like Basim at all in Valhalla, and then I played Mirage, and while that game as a whole was meh to me, I left it with new found fondness for Basims character.
I don’t really follow the wink criticism, it’s in the late 1500s, I think the first ever use of a wink was in 1100, so it’s not like he can’t wink that’s kinda wild. I’m sure he’d gotten that look before, and from an innocent child it’s a sweet little gesture for a innocent interaction you know, that’s how I looked at it
I’m not gonna go into why it’s a little weird the first thing you thought the black guy was gonna do after he winked was Dance and Rap, like… come on, but yeah like I said I didn’t get that vibe at all

And now it's confirmed he is gay. These people have no f****** shame pushing their agenda. We don't play games to have political propaganda shoved down our throats. It's a escape from reality.
Well, to be fair, he does make a good point that it *is* just a game, not saying ubisoft isnt trash tho, they are, but it aint that deep, its another trash game at the end of the day
And sometimes things change. How many assassin's creed games were there before they added an eagle you can fly around? I can't believe you really care about this specific point. You're full of conjecture and parade it around like fact. How many other amazing places on earth have they not yet centered an assassin's creed game on? A ton. Good grief

It's the one with the hood.
AC is all about History while playing with it to create unique interactions and stories that otherwise didn't happen. Who'd of thought.
Yasuke instead upholds what they've done as we see various historical figure inclusions like:
Leonardo Da Vinci: nobody complained that he helped Ezio nlt only repair and modify the Hidden Blade twice but he also studied the Apple of Eden too.

2. Yasuke only stayed in Japan for 1-3 years and IT DOES NOT TAKE 1-3 YEARS TO BECOME A SAMURAI. Adewale is actually an assassin who happens to be black. Was there a backlash about that?
Yasuke/The Black Samurai was a retainer to be exact with the rank or title of koshō he I believe which was a sword bearer but he is known to be the first foreigner to achieve Samurai status.
He served Oda Nobunaga in 1581-1582 or to be more precise 15 months.
There's also debate whether he participated in Odo nobunaga Ritual suicide.

Beverly Hills Ninja - PG-1 : 1997 Chris Farley White Ninja no one remembers that. When a young American boy washes ashore near a village populated by skilled Japanese warriors, they raise the child as one of them and instruct him in the ways of ninjitsu.
Unfortunately, he grows up to be the overweight and inept but very enthusiastic Haru (Chris Farley), who remains intent on becoming a real ninja. That's not even how the gameplay works. Nice try though.
@@fleetadmiralsidiqi1941 So tell me how does the gameplay work?
@friendlyinvestor2282 yasuke is your brawler/ brute RPG style character. And Naoe is your classic stealthy/assassin character.
So, he's all combat, and she's all stealth. Well, they can do a little bit of both. I mean you're not gonna be doing stealth missions with yasuke. And when playing as Naoe you're not gonna be doing missions that involves a lot of fighting.
So think of Mirage's gameplay. Where you can fight but it's a better idea to just run. Where as yasuke is more like Eivor. Where, you just run in and fight.

It’s funny how the social media historians only seem to care so much about Asian representation and the historical accuracy of a fantasy RPG when it’s a black dude as the lead.
They literally had teleporting in the last game 😂😂
@onlyenzoYT technically.. had teleport. The animus was just actually glitching if you didn't already know that.

Talk about “historical accuracy” from the same people who are quick to point out that Yasuke was a real person in real history to justify his existence in the game.
Yasuke wasn’t a real person. He was never a real samurai, he never wore the samurai armor, in the end he’s just a fictional character invented to indulge a bunch of ethnocentric black people from America who think the world revolves around them.
@@sabersin7694 Yasuke was literally documented in Japanese history. Not much is known about him, but that's it. His story was adapted by many japanese artists who thought it was a interesting fact that a black man served under Nobunaga. So your comment is entirely false.
Haha. Yeah good call. They ain't really worried about historical accuracy
Crazy thing is even if the male protagonist was Japanese, people will still find something to complain about with the game. Then constantly compare it to Ghost of Tsushima or Rise of the Ronin.
Yes exactly I love ac but my god this community complains every single new release about anything and everything these people are never happy I'm ashamed to admit I'm a part of it just glad I don't act like them but the funniest part of all is how like 80% of the people complaining still end up buying the game anyway just to complain even more and say look I bought it so my anger is completely justified like you know full well there playing that game seathing with how much fun there having knowing full well there hate ain't justified 😂
Nice strawman argument.
there is no proof of that because there is a black dude preventing this justification to become a true statement.
Its a gross over generalization to say Yasuke was just a servant and a slave and there is "NO DOCUMENTATION" saying otherwise when this guys past is not only debated to this day, but also has tons of documentation from various sources with their own biases. Like there is evidence that he was a samurai and has seen actual combat and was a bodyguard, but even if you don't believe this stuff you can't just just make such a factual statement with all the nuances and debates still going on about him today.
If you're going to do an assassin, why not use the shadow clans like the Imbe clan, the Kamo clan, or the Hata clan? Why Yasuke, the page of Nobunaga? LOL
The Hata clan = Ancient Israelites theory would be perfect for Assassin's Creed, as it ties in with the story of Assassin's Creed 1!
It would make sense if Nobunaga was connected to the Imbe clan and you were building on that story.
That would have been a cool take honestly.
While I don't mind that they are using a black lead, they are being historically inaccurate. He was a retainer at best. That said, AC has always played hard and fast with history. My problem is the pricing.
Why not 2 main Japanese protagonists? Why japan of all places do we need black dudes?
African Samurai: The True Story of Yasuke, a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan written by Thomas Lockley and Geoffrey Girard.
I suggest people read this book before speaking about the subject as if you know all the details. Assassin's creed games have always took liberty in their games to use the element of history to create an interesting story. if you don't like it, don't buy it. Art is subjective guys.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Can I take a screenshot of this and rewrite everything you said for the next person? Because this is a legendary comment
"I suggest people read this book before speaking about the subject"
I would suggest people first watch the Thomas Lockley interview where he states he had barely any source material to work with and admits he had to "make some assumptions" to turn 13 sentences of source material into 480 pages of book.
@@MustardSkaven so what you're saying is that he was basically the Shogun, and every man, woman and child in Japan knows his name and looks on his legend as the greatest warrior Japan has ever known?
@@MustardSkavenI never realized it until now but oh my goodness you're right! The koki and jesuit letters don't mention anything about his position or anything of sorts.

Two things we know for sure: 1) this Ubisoft game will be THUGNIFICENT and 2) Nobunaga's last words would be "RUN AWAY, SMOKEY!"

@@dariusporter358not really. When Maria (AC 1) was introduced, not only there was an explanation, they emphasised how unusual it was for a woman to be a Templar knight.
