As the Elcometer 319 and Elcometer 116C work in different ways, and the Elcometer 319 has an accuracy statement of ±0.5ºC (±1ºF), it is not uncommon that they produce different results. Also, as you are whirling the Elcometer 116C, while the Elcometer 319 remains static and can be placed on the surface to be painted, typically you will not be measuring the same pocket of air. Unless otherwise agreed, the steel surface temperature should generally be at least 3 °C above the dewpoint when paints are used.
