I agree i got mine just today and immediately check the volume pot, it's like we got the same issue. Jeez, but all in all this is way perfect for me! Im happy! Hehe
Many good guitars on a budget these days, but that one has the edge on that beautiful jangling tone. Sweet. As always, it’s great to hear more Camshread! I’m sure I didn’t coin that term, but it does fit the bill. Thanks Cam 🎸🎸🎸
I recently bought the Sterling Sub silo 3 and man thats a awesome guitar and damn cheap. Its got hightech specs you find on several high end guitars but then on a budget. Love to get my hands on the Axis.
Thanks for breaking down the pickups on there. The only thing I'd ask is to do a mid-distortion sound and clean with no chorus (naked tone). Other than that, thanks so much for the review!
I checked one of these Asian made Axis guitars out waiting for a repair to be completed on another guitar and was blown away by the sheer playability of it, so I bought one. This monster is so easy and FUN to play!!! Really impressive. Also it's not a one trick pony. The tonal variety is immense. It's better than your typical shredder. It handles funk, R&B, country, jazz, and classic rock sounds adeptly. Oh, did I say it is a blast to play? Agree with the niggly finish anomalies, but who's gonna know about that except you? Give yourself a treat and check one out!!
man, I wish they had a solid guitar like this when I started. I started on a POS Kramer striker for $125 and that was a lot of $ for me, back then and it wasn't half the guitar they have now for beginners. Kids/Beginners these days have no excuses for not getting a solid beginner guitar. lol
I had the sub ax 3 in red quilt maple (it’s a photo flame type affair) it really did look great, they are super guitars and sit in your hand well , although the asymmetrical neck meant I was unable to get the action as low as I usually like on compound radius type guitars. Absoulutely great for the money though, I was chuffed to bits as it looked like the one Eddie played and is on the front of one of the Guitarist magazines in 1991. I also had a So Cal and an sl3x soloist last year and am thinking of the jackson js22 as my next as I’m not keen on floyds as I’m shit at tuning them
Great video! I've never heard of this guitar until now. Great breakdown. How would you compare it to the EVH Standard Wolfgang which the body style favors? Keep it coming Cam, thanks!
I have same. I like neck. Have you guys try to mod it better? Is there locking tuners that fit this or better tremolo so it could stay tuned after dive bombs? :) I think might try this also with dimarzio pickups..let see..
Cameron, is the trem usable or is it one that goes out of tune as soon as you look as it? I have Sterling JP70 and an EBMM JP6 and those terms are awesome. I wondered how the more traditional EBMM/Sterling trem compare to the Petrucci versions.
Damn I thought you were going to treat us to Humans Being at one point! Lol great playing I think il get this guitar in the red or blue though not so keen on the white.
They only make this in black or white. The Axis sub 4 is the equivalent but there are a couple of differences, the main one being that there is a copy of a flame maple top and it looks as though it's some sort of transfer. Not sure how it looks in person but i would much rather them have painted it a solid colour, no copy's or transfers. That just looks cheap.... Cheers.
Hey brother!! Great review :)) btw I'm confused between two different guitars. First one is Sterling by Music Man AX3S. Second one is Yamaha Revstar RS320. What I mainly play is soft shit a lot. I play warm, fat and thick clean tones with delay on them. Can you plz suggest me here? Thank you tho
@@CameronCooper Awesome dude! I have been blessed a few times with that perfect kind of setup that stays in tune well. Really I meant"these" to be guitars in the lower budget range. But man brother....you sound good no matter what, out of tune, playing a piece of driftwood!!! LOL! thank you Cam. Love your playing bud.
How much more money can Stainless frets be?! If they were standard, Luthiers would invest in harder tools and it wouldn't be such an issue to work on these things. I would definitely pay the extra money to have peace of mind, my guitar only needs a fret dress and not a total refret.
People like you keep the 80s shred stuff alive, and I thank you for that! Amazing playing !
Just bought this guitar and its amazing how good it is, checked your video too, thanks for the great run through the pick ups
I bought the axis because of this vid man. Thanks a lot! I use it a lot ❤️
Makes me want to buy one , job done lol . Sick playing Cam .
What an awesome shred machine to see here played by a skillful musician indeed! Great review and analysis of this guitar!
Thank you! :)
@@CameronCooper You're welcome my man! Keep rocking!
Budget guitars just keep getting better. Your playing Cam is very inspirering. Do you every miss a note lol .. Keep up the good work !!!
I am simply blown away by your playing once again. So good Cameron.
Your videos are consistently excellent. You make your points clearly, do some cool playing....then out. Love it.
Cheers Tom! Really appreciate it! :)
Dude,... you are on a serious roll! Thanks!!!
I grew up in the van halen era and you got it man. Keep it up
Fantastic playing as always! But you have some serious style Cam! Keep it up, your content and attitude is 1st class!
Peace from 🇸🇪
Thank you very much! Really appreciate it! :)

Such a Nice Performance Bro! Keep Rocking.
The Sound super tight and creamy
Great as always Cam, the guitar seems great and your playing is amazing as always =)
I like this guitar. Looks soo simple, but NICE, and sounds great. Especialy for that price.

As a first guitar I think it would last someone quite a number of years before or if at all they needed to upgrade. I liked the pickups
Nice review.. Simple & straight to the point
Great playing 👍🤘
Cheap guitars just keep getting better! Great vid. And love the dokken riff. George Lynch is one of my favourite players
Mine too
This man deserves 100s of thousands of subs.
Awesome sounding guitar. The things got more quack to it than my Strat does. Crazy monotones out of a double- hum guitar
great tones , great playing sir, thank you for the motivation 👍🏻
Awesome review dude, sweet playing!

awesome phrasing...👌🏼 mean vibrato 👍🏼 some very cool licks executed very well 👏🏼

This is my first guitar, didnt think to look up a review until today
Thank you for your high gain shred review 😁
Have you checked to see if the volume knob is on straight? That can cause "friction" if it's rubbing the body at certain positions.
Sadly it's just a dicky pot..
Would be nice to see a review on the Sterling by musicman ax4 sube. Greetings
Awesome playing!!! But, what about the Tremolo? Does it a good job?
I've been playing guitar since I was 13, you make me look like I've just started out haha. Any tips you could throw my way with scales etc?
Awsome guitar and awsome playing.

Would you recommend this for an intermediate player? I own a player series strat and I’m looking for something with humbuckers

I feel like the first thing I’d do upon buying this thing is outfiting it with .7 or .8 gauges and then going ham.
Thanks to this video.. I'm a proud owner of AX3S

5:00 heard a bit of Racer-X Scarified in there I'm sure
Upgraded my tuners with Hipshots and Dunlop strap locks next are pickups
How did you find these 4 and 2 tuners. Most companies only do 6 or 3n3….
Some pots designed in such away as a center guide if not..get a new ok pot. Very good demo by the way.
Damn sparkling inner coil 👌
Great video! I've never heard of this guitar until now. Great breakdown. How would you compare it to the EVH Standard Wolfgang which the body style favors? Keep it coming Cam, thanks!
I got the AX40 and is really amazing....cheap but sound pretty well on my boss katana.
What do you think about the sterling by musicman ax4 sube.??
Throwing in that Humans Being riff for about 4 seconds :-)
I have this exact same guitar and for some reason mine sounds a bit rattly if that makes sense idk what it is
I have same. I like neck. Have you guys try to mod it better? Is there locking tuners that fit this or better tremolo so it could stay tuned after dive bombs? :) I think might try this also with dimarzio pickups..let see..
Can the trem system can be upgraded...
I have a Sterling SUB AX4 axis with the factory floyd rose bridge. My favorite cheap guitar purchase ever.
Cameron, is the trem usable or is it one that goes out of tune as soon as you look as it? I have Sterling JP70 and an EBMM JP6 and those terms are awesome. I wondered how the more traditional EBMM/Sterling trem compare to the Petrucci versions.
Great
Thanks
Fret edges are sharp out the box. Be careful and file them.
Overall a great guitar.
How long time she stay tuned without head-locks?
dokken oh man excellent!!! Thanks
i have been looking at the JP150 with the roasted neck,
I had a question, is the tremolo useable without going out of tune?
I bet you could make a paper guitar sound sik. Your the man cam. I love music man guitars. Had an AX40 for a while.
I'm having problems fitting my tremolo arm. It seems too big to fit. Did you have a problem?
sounds great :)
Are the frets on that model really small? How about the nut width? 1 5/8?
hey man. i have been looking at this guitar vs an Ibanez S series, hsh with a zero edge tremolo.... what would you pick?
Heard Slipping Away - oh yeah
How does this guitar shred compared to an ibanez rg350?
Wonder if I could slip the trem style they use on my CV strat. Lol
Overall looks like a really decent guitar for the $$$, pickups do sound a little nasally though.
Hi Cameron, what are you thoughts on the SBMM Axis vs the new EVH Wolfgang Standard? For me it's now down to one or the other..
Wolfgang is a lot better value for money. Buy the Wolfgang
@@CameronCooper will do. I’m liking the Wolfgang better too. Thanks Cameron.
Nice video. What can you said about the tremolobar?
Were you playing with some distortion?
Damn I thought you were going to treat us to Humans Being at one point! Lol great playing I think il get this guitar in the red or blue though not so keen on the white.

I have an EVH Wolfgang standard, this is cheaper but there's no way it's as good as that
Yes we agree.... Cam's video of the current wgs shows how good they are.... This guitar is aimed at those on a budget and for the price its good
I'm actually pretty impressed with this guitar
how about tremolo does it out of tune?
How does it feel in comparison to the Wolfgang? In particular, the neck. Which one is thinner? Thanks.
Wolfgang neck is thinner
@@CameronCooper Thanks, man
Great review and awesome playing! 👍🏾 Do you think this will hold DADGAD on medium gauge strings? I read that it's set low. Will it buzz?
Thank you! Try it and find out... :)
Great review. Hows the action on it? Is it low action?
Thank you! I'm sorry I don't remember. If it was super high or low I would have probably mentioned it.
@@CameronCooper ah ok. It looks like a low comfortable action.
Is 2:49 a song?
What is the action like on this guitar?
I don't own it and never measured it but it felt nice. You'd be fine. Even if you didn't like it, you can always adjust it
Hi,do you recommend for this guitar,Thanks.
It's a good guitar but I recommend the Wolfgang WG standard over this
@@CameronCooper ok thanks
@@Brad143 +1 on the EVH Wolfgang Standards! They're amazing value
@@foggyblues13 Thanks buddy😬
do you prefer this one or the evh standard?
Much prefer the EVH Standard. Nicer neck, great sound and looks :)
This one or a evh wg standard?
EVH Standard
Is this guitar suitable for playing modern metal?
If you can, it will.
Came to see the guitar and stayed for the ass-kicking playing!
True gentleman! Thanks a lot!
would that be a good beginner guitar
Absolutely!! :)
EVH standard or this?
EVH Standard
nice guitar but im more of a wolfgang fan.
I just want one for the trem grab slot. Hahaha
Of course these guitars MUST HAVE LOCKING TUNERS or it will be a struggle usually to keep in tune. Thx Cam!
These don't have locking tuners. :)

Wow...
Had one. Wouldn’t stay in tune. You get what you pay for I’m afraid. Sounds thin as well.
Van Halen *and* Dokken!

Someone restrung the low E in the dark
What can I say, I like a fair few winds on there ;)
Are u the dooo ?
I get that a lot and I have no idea why....
It's because you got skills on guitar
i smell Eddie VH style....
corona... haha. i had no social life if i could shred the shit out of myself like this.
