On some of the ODNR webpages, the newer camper cabins are also called "Sherman Cabins." OK for a couple but still have to walk to the latrines and showers.

This is the town I live in and we camp every year the first weekend in June. Unfortunately the water is not fit for swimming otherwise it's a wonderful place to not only camp but live. Glad you had a chance to visit.

Lake is fine to swim in. With any lake. Shower afterwards and dont drink the water. Grew up here never got sick even when the algae blooms were going on. In it every year with my kids no issues. In town at k.c geiger park is a nice 18 hole putter golf, and disc golf course.
This used to be a beautiful campground and in very high demand. I feel you need to note that this lake has been so highly polluted for more than a decade and it is very unsafe...worse for children and elderly. The agricultural runoff has destroyed what was once a very popular and thriving tourism spot. It is recommended that people avoid all contact with the lake water.
Great looking campground, Ohio looks to have some really great looking camping.

I am looking for a reasonable campsite near my Fathers home town Hicksville Ohio, St. Mary's is about a hour and half, do you know any closer?

We enjoyed our time when we went. The water quality was poor last August so no kayaking but otherwise a beautiful campground.
