    Hi Lisa, I have watch you for years. I am a Medical Aesthetician...and I will say I always enjoy your skincare videos. Everyone has there own skincare journey. These Aestheticians that think there is one formula for all...are sadly very wrong. Skincare is a journey and it changes constantly. Thanks for being "real" and not prescribing one solution for all. Keep up the good work and God Bless😉😊

    My plastic surgeon's office has ZO. I just finished 3 months of Obagi NuDerm with hydroquinone and now easing into ZO. I love the Daily Power Defense. Going to try the instant pore refiner next, thanks!

    I just love ZO skin care 😍 they are the bed, although pricey but very effective. Try the Wrinkle Texture Repair at night, the next morning you'll see an improvement in texture, talk about results!

    I've used Dr Obagi, using prescriptive products once, and I have never gone back to high street brands, if only everyone knew the benefits of using this would be great, everyone would have gorgeous skin

    I love your videos! Also, some advice on the broken capillaries you talked about, Mechanical exfoliation devices like the Clarisonic and other brushes are know to break capillaries, my mother who is 52 started noticing the same thing so she stopped using it. After stopping the Clarisonic, follow up with a photofacial (ipl or bbl) and those capillaries will disappear. Hope all is well!

    Great info - your skin looks beautiful! I have scaled down my skincare products as well to a strong retinol, glycolic, vit c and moisturizer. Seems to be the perfect combo for me and I'm 62. Thanks Lisa for another great video.

    You have beautiful skin, Lisa ❤️ and I agree with the hyper pigmentation and hydroquinone... if I stop, everything I got rid of slowly starts to come back. I hear a lot of negative things about using it but I have to have it! I do back off and come back to it like I’m supposed to but.... geeeez, i would be sad without it. One of these days, I wanna try laser.

    Lisa, I think you mentioned you used the Obagi NuDerm system in the past..? How would you say the Zo skincare regimen compares results-wise?? I used the NuDerm system in the past and I really LOVED it. Wow, my skin was just soooo beautiful. I actually think I looked better then with NO makeup on - just my real skin glowing through. Don’t know why I ever stopped it. I’d like to start up again ASAP and wasn’t sure if I should hop onto the Zo bandwagon and start that or if I should stick with the old NuDerm system. Sounds like the Zo system might be much more simplified (which I’d definitely appreciate) ?? The NuDerm was not inexpensive and had like 5 different products to it (as well as needing to add retin A to the “Blender”
    step). Thanks so much for your thoughts!

    If your esthetician has a problem with your routine, they'd really freak out about mine!! I remove my makeup in the shower at night using vegetable oil on my eyes (non waterproof mascara), then wash with baby wash and scrubby gloves. I then use a hyaluronic acid from Swanson Vitamins, Nadinola sold at Walmart which has 3% hydraquinoine..Obagi has 4%, then top it off with Cetaphil lotion. I also use a scalpel to fully exfoliate once a week...estheticians used to use that for certain peels. Besides getting filler in my tear trough area, my skin is pretty much wrinkle free and no blemishes at the age of 51. Whatever works, right?!

      It works at fading the dark spots, and it's only 1% weaker than the expensive Obagi and 1% stronger than most over the counter products with hydraquinoine. (Someday I'll look up how to spell it correctly.)

    Okay how have I never come across your videos before? You are absolutely stunning and seem so sweet! Thank you for being honest about knowing and not knowing. I'm an esthetician and it's so easy for youtuber's to to "perscribe" something to the masses saying it works so well but people take that as a one size fits all journey, which skin care definitely is not. Keep it up, girlfriend! You look amazing!

    Do you use this treatment during the summer? I may have messed up because I have that pregnancy mask, and I got it too go back down under the skin (by using Obagi NuDerm) and I went off of it during the summer time, wore spf like CRAZY the entire time and it's came back again. 🙄🙄 But, i'm not worried because I know I can get it to go back under the skin. But that's my question. Do you use this Zo all throughout the summer? I have heard using any retinols, glycolic acids etc is bad under the sun, but i'm thinking maybe that's if you are not wearing sunscreen. Hyperpigmentation is HORRIBLE, your skin is beautiful and your Obagi video is what introduced me to NuDerm. I trust your opinion so so much. Thank you for sharing, I am definitely going to pick up these products.

    ZO SKin Health doesn't work as well on my melasma as Obagi. Both my dermatologist (Beverly Hills doctor who offers all types of treatments and skincare) and local esthetician recommend Obagi and use it themselves. I strayed for years with much more expensive and elaborate skincare regimes but I'm going back to Obagi and adding in some Japanese hydration products to offset the dryness.

      Thank you. This is very interesting. As I suffer from Melasma as well.
      One Dr. has recommended Laser and the other Recommended Obagi.
      Im worried about my Melasma rebounding from the Laser. Yet I’m worried about the Hydroquinone in the Obagi. Ugggg this is the WORST! Anyways, I’m definitely leaning more towards the Obagi. But I do have super dry skin, so I. Wondering what type of Japanese products are you using to offset the dryness? ...How does it work for you? Also, what products do you use for maintenance?...
      Now that your Melasma is under control.
      Thank you so much!

    I use Colleen Rothschild Mandelic Acid during the summer because I live in Greece at this time, and I’m going to get in the sun. Retin A or tretonin (generic version) makes your skin more sun sensitive. You can actually get more sun damage if you use it and expose your face to the sun without block. My dermatologist said, don’t put it on your face if you play in the sun. Around October I switch back to .05 Tretonin. I’m going to make you ill when I tell you I buy it at the pharmacy here for 8 euros. We are so ripped off in the States. I use Paula’s Choice vitamin C because Timeless turns yellow too quick and Colleen’s vitamin C cream is too pricey. I try to wait for one of her discounts.

      Chris Chris you are so right! We are indeed ripped off here in the USA..🙁. But if we think WE are, poor Australia..😩. Its even worse there! I really like Colleen Rothschild products. Right now I only have her makeup remover (balm), but I’m interested in that mandelic acid. Does it actually compare to Retin A..?? Thanks and enjoy Greece!

    Thanks for sharing your skincare routine with us. I've started using the CT Magic Night Cream and it's amazing. I mix it with Monat's Rejuveniqe oil and I've noticed my skin feels and looks so smooth, hydrated and radiant in the morning. I have to say the cream in itself is very heavy and could be messy but after mixing it's much better. I also use the day Magic Cream and I also love it.

    Oh my! I would faint at the thought of a leather jacket right now!!! It's 89 degrees with 80% humidity. There just isn't enough air conditioning in Tennessee for me to wear a leather jacket in July!!! That would be cute for a fall Friday night high school football game look. I do want to pass some advice to save some pain and grief for others regarding their skincare. My dermatologist has said many times that people are using to many products --- remembering that these are STRONG chemicals for facial skin--- and she is seeing damage from too many products. Most people that I meet that have "perfect" skin only use less than five products daily. That would be splitting up some in the am and pm. I have been fortunate not to have damage especially since I lived outside my whole childhood in the 70s without sunblock. I've been lucky to not have wrinkles. I owe this more to diet, water, retinol, and laMer special broth.

    • @kimberlybellefontaine1215
      @kimberlybellefontaine1215 6 років тому +1

      Angie Lenny Yes! You are soooo right about the “too many” skin care products. What many ppl don’t realize is that all you really need are 5-6 really good products - a good cleanser, a high quality vitamin C, glycolic acid (or an acid that plays well on your individual skin), retin A or retinol, a good sunscreen, even in the colder months (especially if using retin A or a retinol product!), and possibly peptides or essential growth serum. That’s it. No extra fluff. And what many don’t realize is that using too many unnecessary products can actually hurt the skin and hinder (or even negate) the effectiveness of the essential 5-6 skin care products. Also the order in which the products are applied is also important if you want to get maximum effectiveness from your skin care regimen. I mean, if you’re gonna spend top dollar for really high quality skin care products, you may as well use them correctly so that you see maximum results, right?

    Hi Lisa,
    I’m a huge fan of yours and I need your advice. Just like you in the past, I have some pigment spots on my face and I was able to almost get rid of them by doing mechanical peeling ( corral peeling) . I was so happy at first but I started to notice that after a while my spots started to resurface even though I don’t leave the house without SPF. I’ve been using nuface Obagi kit with RetinA for the past 3 months and I really don’t see any improvement ( it doesn’t hurt my skin either). I feel helpless as my esthetician told me that my only option to lighten those spots again is to do another peel.
    I’ve noticed that you’ve been able to maintain your skin pigmentation free and I wanted to ask if there’s a certain procedure or a product that helps you with that.
    Your advice is greatly appreciated
    Love,
    Aksana
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Thanks lovely Lisa. I agree! An acid that suits your skin type and within a suitable ph, vitamin c, retinol or retin a, and sunscreen are must haves. Everything else is a bonus. 💋

    • @kimberlybellefontaine1215
      @kimberlybellefontaine1215 6 років тому

      Lipstick Konniption Agree! And sometimes, those extra “fluff” products are not even really a bonus, as some unnecessary products can actually interact and interfere with (and potentially negate the effectiveness of) those 4-5 basic essential products - vitamin c, glycolic acid, retin A/retinol, peptides or a growth serum, and sunscreen.

      radbaby3 I finished the kit quite a long time ago so I don’t remember exactly but I do know I only used one pump of the Nighttime product on my entire face. I believe I did it several days in a row and when I noticed a lot of peeling, I used it every few nights to try to let my skin adapt to it. I finished the entire kit, and since then have used .05 Retin A and have not had any peeling! Hope you enjoy it. At least now is the time to use some intense products since no one will see us! Take care.

    Hi...I've used Obagi on and off for years and loved it...Didn't realize it had changed since it was sold, don't like to hear that...but am glad about this line he created and will check it out (though I don't like the lack of cs you're experiencing)...I SWEAR by Retin-A and have been using it for over 20 years (52 now) and would never be without it...I just came back from my dermatologist and she was very complimentary, and just said to keep doing what I'm doing and extols the virtue of Retin-A, not a miracle, but pretty darn close!!!

      LoveLee Ditto!! I LOVE retin A😍. Best thing ever..! I first became acquainted with it only about 15-16 yrs ago. I had used glycolic acid before that and always loved surface peels (and that kept my skin looking fresh & healthy for a long time). But after I discovered retin A (same time I began using the Obagi regimen), I was in love. Used it on and off over the past years, but now that I’m regularly seeing a good dermatologist, I’m using retin A religiously again. I’m 58. I don’t have time anymore NOT to use it! Give me my top of the line vitamin C serum, a good glycolic acid, Retin A, my latisse, just a teeny tiny pinch of Botox for my “11” lines, and I’m good..😁. Could I use a lot more? Of course! I mean, who doesn’t want fuller lips and/or zero wrinkles on the forehead or around the eyes and no smile lines and lifted eyelids, etc etc..? But I’m fine with doing just the bare minimum to make myself feel good. I’m not trying to turn back time 25 years or anything of the sort. I honestly think a good skin care regimen goes a really long way. Keeping your skin fresh and healthy is a great step to looking (and feeling!) young. Couple that with some good old fashioned daily exercise and plenty of H2O every day, and you’re definitely on the right track to looking and feeling pretty darned good..🤗

I first learned of this serum from LisaJ, and the results are noticeable in her skin. Watch her recent video regarding her favorites, if I’m not mistaken. If you’re curious she puts the link to Maelove.com in her description box. It’s affordable at $27.00/free shipping. Take care!

      Paris Day Teutsch wow! Didn’t realize that serum was quite so inexpensive. That is downright cheap! I wonder how the results can be so stunning at that price point? Not to say that a product HAS to cost a lot for it to be super effective. It’s just that in all the years I’ve been a user of skincare (I’m 58!), it’s been my experience that the pricier products really DO provide really great results. Not ALWAYS the case....but often, yes. So just wondering how/why Maelove works so well and promises such amazing results..? Thanks!

      Kimberly Bellefontaine I know how you feel, because even the Estée Lauder is a more expensive serum. I’m expecting my Maelove serum to arrive tomorrow, and I am beyond excited. It promises help with wrinkles, glow and an overall youthful appearance. Keeping in mind that I have very dry skin, so I really enjoy the comfort of a serum. Give it a try, if you don’t like it you can always pass it along. Have a good day!

    Hello Lisa,
    I must say that your skin is looking beautiful today, but it is your hair that I was drawn to as it is so shiny and healthy and does not look dry or damaged at all. Did you change your shampoo/conditioner?

      Deborah Stevens noticed as well. In past videos (and not to sound callous or rude but you know, for the sake of comparison to now!), her hair has quite often appeared very dry, almost draw-like(?) with very little shine to it. Looks totally different now in this video! I noticed the same thing in this video👍

      Hey Deborah! I use the Monat renew and revitalize, nothing makes my hair shine like Monat, I had eased off for a while after I went dark and was going back blonde~I have gone back to only monat and it's so much softer and shinier! Thank you for noticing! ❤️ Lisa (I made a video about this a few weeks ago if you want to watch!)

    The new OBAGI wants the pigmentation to come up I’m told. They have eased off of the hydroquenone in the new OBAGI I like the old OBAGI much better. My dermatologist still sells it and the new one due to so many clients wanting the “old”

    • @kimberlybellefontaine1215
      @kimberlybellefontaine1215 6 років тому

      Wendy A yes. I used to use the OLD version of the Obagi NuDerm - the basic 5 or so products (cleanser, toner, hydroquinone, blender (to mix with retin A), and I’m missing one other product here..). It specifically used hydroquinone. I did notice that the NEW line of these same products has the hydroquinone taken out, as you’ve said. Supposedly it’s because it’s NOT good for our bodies..??? I know anything that’s absorbed directly through the very thin skin barrier gets into our cells very easily and very quickly. There must be a pretty darned good reason why obagi is now formulating a line minus the hydroquinone. I really don’t have too many issues any longer with uneven skin tone (I’m pretty much OUT of the sun these days), so I don’t miss the hydroquinone at all, but I’m sure many women do. It’s nice that obagi is still making and offering the older product. Many companies won’t do that once they reformulate, especially if they’re purposely taking out an ingredient that is known to be harmful to the body.

    • @kimberlybellefontaine1215
      @kimberlybellefontaine1215 6 років тому

      Wendy A Hmmm.... Why do you think Obagi would purposely WANT hyperpigmentation to show up..??? That sounds so strange. Like.....why??

    • @dr.wendie
      @dr.wendie 6 років тому +1

      Kimberly Bellefontaine Hello and thank you for your sharing too! You're accurate on all your points! As some have also said the 'break' is needed from those products ' hydroquinone' to allow it (brown spots) to surface. Prior to any IPL you're to be off Retinal to allow pigmentation to surface and then the purpose to zap spots. I'm in no way a professional but I ask my dermatologist a lot of questions and also follow Dr. Dray! ☺️ I believe the concern about the effects is some of the new research as you eluded to. They still stand behind the original Obagi but I also heard the product was sold and now the new name! "ZO". I too stay out of the sun and have IPLs but worry to stop the old product as I am hooked on the effects. I once had freckles. My before and after is astounding!
      Hope I offered some Insight? I also wonder if they encourage the IPLs this way for spots rather then the hydroquinone now? Safer? 🇨🇦💕

    Did you ever have an obagi blue peel? Currently on Obagi NuDerm 8 week stage peeling like mad . Adore Blender and also Clear ! Obagi makes two versions to remove pigmentation now one with 4% Hydroquinone on prescription only .The next is with 7% Arbutin which takes a lot longer to remove dark marks but is for people who don’t want to use Hydroquinone . I tried so many ranges of skin care wasted thousands but now realise Obagi and Zo M.D. prescription products make the massive and most noticeable difference more than anything else I’ve ever used . I’ve stuck to the Obagi NuDerm for 7 weeks !for me that’s a miracle only to use one brand products I’m blown away ! Then in two months I’m having a Blue peel ! Yikes smurf face ;)

    • @flametexas

      Laura Richardson I think it’s possible that the availability of RetinA is down now that a youtuber who owns an online skin care store stopped selling it. I think the dr visit and cost are a lot. The thing is there are manufacturers coupons that nationwide pharmacies can apply if they will take the time. It brings the cost way down. I have been on few years now. I must say the peeling was really rough the first 9 months...but I use it daily.

    • @kimberlybellefontaine1215
      @kimberlybellefontaine1215 6 років тому +1

      Laura Richardson i had no idea that the use of retin A was way down..? Hmmm. Wouldn’t even begin to know why. I’ve used it for YEARS - on and off for probably close to 20 years now. Never a retinol (they don’t do anything for my strong skin). I need straight up highest strength Retin A available. Even that doesn’t cause any peeling or redness on me. None at all. I wish it did! I get my retin A from my dermatologist. It’s really not expensive (they make & distribute their own so it’s always “fresh”). The thing that MIGHT be expensive for some though is the actual doctor/dermatologist appt if they don’t have insurance to cover the appt. I can see that. As for the retin A itself, that product is NOT covered by insurance anyway even if you do have insurance. It’s just like buying a vitamin C serum or a glycolic cleanser or something like that. All of those Lproducts are not covered by insurance. Really good skin care CAN be expensive! When The Ordinary came along, I was really impressed with their prices. Noticed that Sephora stopped carrying that line. I wonder why..??

    • @LisaLisaD1
      @LisaLisaD1  6 років тому +2

      Thank you, Laura! The only reason I stopped using it is because I like this--no other reason, I think Retin A is the best thing for us, this ZO retinol just seems to work even better for me! 💗 Lisa

      erica ogle I don’t think it’s really “thick.” It has a lot of slip to it and it is NOT sticky at all. It’s not even as thick as, say, the Carmex in the tube (the TUBE, not the jar). It’s nowhere near as thick as the Bite Beauty lip balm. Not even close. I also use the lip balms from both Dior and Herbivore (love them both, especially Herbivore, and neither are thick), and I think the Sara Happ lip slip is actually thinner in consistency than either of these two products. It’s hard to explain, but the Sara Happ is just very “slippy.” Because it’s not thick, it spreads on the lips very, very easily. I think that’s why Lisa must like to use it during the day as sort of a gloss....because it’s not goopy or sticky at all. Hope that helps you!
