Josh i like the morels myself. They pop in the spring. My fav is the golden oak and it pops in the fall. One thing about the golden oak is when you find one you normally find a pickup truck full of them. Then it is time to put them in the freezer for the winter.
I Wild turkey hunt near Bunker Missouri in the spring and I find Morels just about everywhere I sit down it seemed. Some will just fall over when you barely touch them but if they are picked earlier try to cut them at base of stalk. Reason you can damage the main underground plant and eventually it will wipe out the whole crop. Thanks again Josh.
+Back to Nature That is completely inaccurate, mushrooms grow from spores, not roots. When you take the mushroom you are taking the source of the spores, they come from the gills. Nothing low down on a mushroom matters at all.
Found a lot of them one year, but they did not have a real good taste. Perhaps the preparation method ! How do you cook them ? PS : raw, they are toxic too !!!

I love shrooms, too scared to pick them wild :)
+John Deaton well you could grow edible ones at home. perhaps obtain certain spores from somewhere. that way you'll know what you're getting
Good Idea :)
