cool video and nice review! I really wish Nanoleaf could come out with a replacement for the brain to the og nanoleaf panels. They don't have the hardware required to support the thread router capability. I have about 70+ smart devices and 7 are og nanoleaf panels and they are constantly having connection issues. I would love for nanoleaf to release some kind of replacement plugin brain that had this capability. Since you seem to be in touch with them would appreciate if you could pass on that recommendation!
Thanks for the considered comment. Just me speculating here but I think that would be too narrow of a market to justify the cost and time to make that kind of central hub product
@@EricWelander Hi sorry I wasn't very clear... I don't mean a central hub. Right now the Original Nanoleaf panels... only work once you plug in the "brain" that supplies the power and does all the processing with wifi/etc. I'm just saying I wish they would update the "brain" plugin piece of the original nanoleafs because it is outdated. The og nanoleaf panels I believe came out in 2012/2013.... it has old hardware and just can't keep up with their latest tech. Ideally it would bring life back into the og panels as IMHO think they look better than the shapes line as I can't not see the hotspots.
If I wanted to put them into a straight line, are there enough joints to cover this scenario? Also, would the power cable be long enough if I wanted to position the line on my wall near my ceiling?
8:35 I would think that turning off Scene Sync in settings would accomplish this but then I believe you’d lose the ability to import your scenes from Nanoleaf to HomeKit if you’re like me and want to trigger Nanoleaf scenes within HomeKit, so personally I just remove the Nanoleaf ones from favourites unless I’m integrating my Nanoleaf Shapes into other HomeKit scenes
This is a detail I glossed over when talking about the Eero integration. In a pre-Matter world, Nanoleaf, Eero and others create their own Thread networks outside of your HomeKit + Eve + Nanoleaf Essentials Thread network. This probably won't be remedied / standardized until they all become Matter accessories. But I've been told by people who know that the Matter stage should solve this problem.
These look awesome, Eric! I haven’t tried these shapes out yet. Great info and nice addition to your office!
Thx for the review!
You're welcome

Great video as allways
Thanks!

I love nanoleaf but these seem over priced , anyone else think so?
yes, i think it definitely is overpriced.. maybe $100 or $75 at most it should be
$199 is crazy expensive for only nine pieces!

Yes that's exactly right! For me I turned off scene syncing and most of the time I turn these lights solid colors from HomeKit.
Is Lines a HomeKit Thread beorder Router? Can you See lines in Eve App as Thread device ? My Shapes Build a another Thread Network .

Hey Eric! Great vid. I was wondering what you use to film it, the quality is pristine!
Hola
El procesador de lineas nanoleaf se calienta un poco???
great video! do they flicker when recording video?
Are these as bright as the shapes?
Are those connectable to Canvas?
Removing my Nanoleafs always removes paint from my wall. Ugh!
Yeah nano leafs fucking suck
Is it possible to have your lines and your Nanoleaf panels sync to have the same scene you choose in the app?
Yes it is in the Nanoleaf app and then you could share that with HomeKit
@@EricWelander thank you! God bless and have a great rest of your day
does this look good with popcorn walls??
I'm 7 months too late but probably not mate. You'd struggle to mount them too.
The nanoleaf app isn't easy for me to use. And I have similar problems with senses added to my homekit too
I've been told since this video that it's under ... > Settings > Scene Sync. With Scene sync off you won't get auto created scenes in HomeKit anymore
The wire hanging from the wall, like every nanoleaf product, is a huge deterrent in my opinion. Hardwired or bust
The nanoleaf app doesn’t support iPad landscape display orientation. 💩
Anybody else unable to locate their device after scanning it/entering the pairing code?
