A green bg is necessary but if you have a green/blue wall you can use that but s green screen/ cloth is best to shoot the green screen video

Head over to Edit > Preferences > Memory. Here, you can adjust the RAM reserved for After Effects. It's like expanding the usable space in that room.
Other problems may be large file size, running multiple softwares in background and other stuff
