Fuck yeah man you're the one that got me into 40k, you deserve this. You can tell that Majorkill's knowledge of 40k lore has increased because he once described Meros' sacrifice as a random Blood Angel diving into the sarcophagus for free drugs.
Sanguinius: I will Sacrifice myself to save my legion. Meros: DAD! We are NOT the thousand sons nerds and you are NOT uncle Magnus. Now hold my gene seed.
Blood Angels are the real beasts in the galaxy, noble vampire berserkers who were actually Khorne's first pick, but he was unlucky and got the World Eaters instead.
The Blood Angels and World Eaters are kind of sad mirrors to each other. The Blood Angels were berserkers made to be Noble by their Primarch. The World Eaters on the other hand were actually Noble before Angron and after Angron they became berserkers. Even so they were so noble that they had the largest percentage of loyalists within the traitor legions. Just something to think about.

Maybe not quite as prolific, but definitely more horrific in my opinion, was Gol Kolea's sacrifice to try and save his children in the Gaunts Ghosts novels. It was a harrowing and ultimately grimdark moment for sure.
@mogar2813 His children, who he thought had died on his homeworld after a chaos attack, got taken in by the Ghosts retinue. They then proceeded to live and grow with the Ghosts, and Kolea decided to watch them from afar so as to not disrupt their lives from being brought up by their adoptive parents, giving them the most normal life he could. They eventually find out and reconnect, and the eldest child Dalyn gets inducted into the Guard, while Yoncey the girl stays with the wives and other retinue members. Kolea then has a moment where he could swear he had two sons while remembering an interaction with his wife. They then get assaulted while fighting chaos again, and it turns out that the children have been dead the entire time and have been replaced by woe engines, as part of a long term plan by an Archon of chaos to sow discord and kill the upper echelon of the Sabbat Crusade. Yoncey reveals herself first, and kills a fuck tonne of the retinue. Dalyn has a moment where he tries to remain human, while Kolea tries to talk to him like a father, who loves him. Dalyn loses the battle and transforms into. Kolea steps forward into the woe engine and is obliterated after realising that he has failed his children, even though they weren't really his the entire time. A fucking powerful piece of writing, in my opinion, bearing in mind we are with these characters for at least 13-14 books. I can't remember which one it is.
I think Ra the custodian sacrificed the most even though he knew he had failed to make a difference he still kept fighting back destiny for the Emperor
A big sacrifice is also the one Alpharius made, sacrificing the whole human race to permanently stop chaos He failed and it could have been pointless anymay but he was determined nonetheless.
I hope he gets the ending he deserves like that Night Lord who got possessed by a Deamon who manage to take over his own body for a moment and blow up his ship.
It feels so good to here you say “Our Glorious Hawk Boi!” again man. You say the Dark Angels are your fav but bro you shine bright af when you do Blood Angel content and it’s what made me make them my number one Astarte’s Chapter. I mean funny enough Custodes are my overall fav and Dark angels are tied for second with Salamanders but either way man. Keep up the good work.
It's not from a book, but a similar example I can think of is Inquisitor Vakir from Chaos Gate: Deamonhunter. In the game she sacrifices her soul in order to guide the Grey Knights to the Garden of Nurgle, so they can attempt to save their Supreme Grandmaster from an ambush. And ultimately stop the spread of a new plague that would have ravaged the galaxy.
I can also think of an example, but it's bigger than both: At the very end of the Heresy, recall that Horus was about to unleash some evil anime move on the Emperor that would have killed him for good, but then, all of a sudden, some Guardsmen appears out of nowhere and body-blocks it Mr-President-Get-Down! style.
Actually, I think that one Guardman's sacrifice was bigger, it was at the very end of the Heresy, Horus was about to do some kind of anime move and kill the Emperor for good, but this one Guardsman comes out of nowhere and body-blocks it, saving the Emperor.
Oh man meros is heartbreaking! That book is amazing and what he did was awesome, but the real meat of meros' story is how sad you feel and how hopeless it is after that book now that he is the red angel. He is such a good dude and through every moment you see of him after he became the red angel, you're just sitting there picturing this guy in chains and on fire knowing he is imprisoned in his own body somewhere. It's just so sad. And then he ends up with horus and that just sucks even worse
@BadLuck Prophet yeah cause fulgrim took the opportunity to outevil his evil daemon and got his body back only to continue being more evil than the daemon. Meros was always just a good dude and is trapped because he was willing to sacrifice himself. Fulgrim got trapped cause he liked weiner swords and lost his mind from killing his brother. You're right, meros is definitely the better version
There is a tale like this in every short story anthology. What made this one different? My two favorites are the Costodes that forces a deamon assassin, who can kill the Emperor, possessed him. Then he wanders the webway forever hiding to protect the Emperor and lose his soul. Then there is the librarian who burned up his soul on the 2nd golden throne to save the Imperium. The Bell of Lost Souls on Terra tolls for them all known and unknown.
@@slayer6498 That's the one. Doesn't stopping a chaos rift from opening, and Black Glass being taken by traitors, along with stopping 2 traitor fleets equal to Meros?
Being on the demon planet with them currently enraged and all, you should have added the part with the contingent of Space Wolves and their reaction when they finally understood what was happening and what it means for them. Was a good read overall!
5:29 Ka'Bandha: "Now I know what you're thinking: "Should I break his spine?" And the answer might surpri- *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MY SPINNNNNEEEEEEEEE!!!"*
Barabas dantiochs story was probably one of the most compelling mate!! I’ve never been one for getting emotional about stories and films like!! But I’ve not half struggled with keeping my head with this tale.
If Meros's sacrifice is significant because his soul is completely damned, surely all the Eldar Wraith Constructs who chose to fight and permanently die and be consumed by Slaanesh's sacrifices are on par.
I've been waiting two years for this, I love meros, fear to tread was second 40k I ever read, which was right after I found your Sigismund video, which started the whole thing
Malcador made a greater sacrafice maybe. If Malcador is ever played in live action it must be Anthon Hopkins who plays him. Or he could play Fabius Bile.
I love the new BA lore vid. Thanks bro. Both me and my bro picked up a set of dice just to yell "G'day F'Heads" when we roll off. Thanks for the content!
Do a video on Lord Commander Vespasian. He's twice the man Eidolon ever was and the only reason he isn't remembered as a loyalist on level with Saul and Rylanor is because a daemon Fulgim shoved it's hand in his soul and killed him when it realised there was no corrupting Vespasian.
Before they made him a perpetual, Ollandius Pious or whatever when he faced off against Horus AFTER Horus had killed Sanguinius and clapped the Emperor. Man was armed with only his giant balls of adamantium and a flash light against someone who had just smacked down the big E.
Long time listener, first time commenter, really find your vids informative and therapeutic. Like so chill 😊 it's a breath of fresh air how open you are about tabboo subjects in society and you're pushing the drive for all subjects to be normalised! Love it
This gives a whole new spin to the original idea of Sanguinius being like, “Bugger, he took my drugs!” Love the content my man, keep up the good work and the good fight! For the Emperor!
Just wanted to throw this out there. You might appreciate this mate being as big of a lion fan as me. Was listening to the end and the death again. When Synderman and Mauer are in the hall of lane looking at the books…. Synderman reads “Rise like Lions after slumber. In unvanquishable number and Mauer asks “is that about the first” made me wonder if that was a cheeky wee nod to the Lion coming back that only makes sense now it’s happened. Figured it was cool.
He removed his own geneseed. ... HE REMOVED HIS OWN GENESEED!! 😲 Seriously, I know the rest of his story is badass, and I'm very appreciative of you sharing it with us (because I had honestly never heard of him before now), but for some reason that single event stands out to me.
Umm another good sacrifice would be the one son of Vulkan who threw himself into Mount Deathfire to bring Vulkan back? Also obligatory Mini for Yarrick request.
In modern 40k, the Red Angel helped open the portal through which Ka'Bandha would materialize over Baal to attack the Blood Angels during their battle against Hive Fleet Leviathan to turn them to Khorne. Also, another son of Sanguinius would sacrifice himself to become an angelic Warp entity. The original Sanguinor, who was a regular Blood Angel with a mask of Sanguinius welded onto his face and who would act as a body double while Sanguinius was Emperor of the Imperium Secundus, volunteered to stay behind and hold the Daemon of the Ruinstorm impaled onto a Warp gate in Davin while his father, Guilliman and the loyalist marines retreated and the Lion bombed the crap out of Davin from orbit. Right before leaving the temple, Sanguinius looks back at his Herald and sees the Warp energies turn him into a golden angel, his ceramite golden armor moving like it was flesh and skin, and his ceramite wings becoming animated like Sanguinius' own wings. It's very likely this is the origin of the Warp entity of the Sanguinor.
Meros is my favorite Blood Angel Warlord to play as in the WH40k Legions game. I don't have his Red Angel form that is a Chaos Warlord yet, but I'll snatch it up eventually.
It's easier to sacrifice for someone you love than someone you don't know. The thousand sons who sacrificed themselves to help rylanor was better i think
*Any greater sacrifice? Yes; the Emperor. Ten-thousand years of suffering on the Golden Throne to keep the Astronomican burning while holding back the tides of Chaos to give humanity a glimmer of hope. All while everything he built and hoped for decays, crumbles, and is corrupted.*
Great character and potential, I hope GW does something about it one day. Kind of how I still have hopes Arik Taranis pops up again somewhere. Now in terms of sacrifice, it's not as epic, but what the crew of the Sysipheum endured to secure the Magna Mater was an awesome story arc.

@@mogar2813 in a nutshell
It's interesting to track Majorkill's reading progress through the Horus Heresy as he releases videos.
This whole affair is just a massive painful memory for Khorne
I think Ra the custodian sacrificed the most even though he knew he had failed to make a difference he still kept fighting back destiny for the Emperor
A big sacrifice is also the one Alpharius made, sacrificing the whole human race to permanently stop chaos
He failed and it could have been pointless anymay but he was determined nonetheless.
Alpharius is one of the dumbest people in fiction.
Honestly, it's the thought that counts
Its kinda retarded ngl, but since most of the primarchs are too its only fitting.
I think you may have your facts wrong, you see this guy over here tells me that HE is Alpharius
7:55 Khornate Daemon Primarch Sanguinius from the Lion El'Jonson Heresy alternate timeline
I hope he gets the ending he deserves like that Night Lord who got possessed by a Deamon who manage to take over his own body for a moment and blow up his ship.
Based and Baal-pilled
It feels so good to here you say “Our Glorious Hawk Boi!” again man. You say the Dark Angels are your fav but bro you shine bright af when you do Blood Angel content and it’s what made me make them my number one Astarte’s Chapter. I mean funny enough Custodes are my overall fav and Dark angels are tied for second with Salamanders but either way man. Keep up the good work.
Majorkill can you do a video on the planets of the Sol System in 40k?
It's not from a book, but a similar example I can think of is Inquisitor Vakir from Chaos Gate: Deamonhunter. In the game she sacrifices her soul in order to guide the Grey Knights to the Garden of Nurgle, so they can attempt to save their Supreme Grandmaster from an ambush. And ultimately stop the spread of a new plague that would have ravaged the galaxy.
I can also think of an example, but it's bigger than both: At the very end of the Heresy, recall that Horus was about to unleash some evil anime move on the Emperor that would have killed him for good, but then, all of a sudden, some Guardsmen appears out of nowhere and body-blocks it Mr-President-Get-Down! style.
Oll Perrson/Olliamius Pius. The Perpetual whom finally died taking the fatal blow meant for the Emperor
Nathaniel Garro, has given up the most in my opinion. That man has been through hell and back all in the name of the emperor and glorious purpose
Actually, I think that one Guardman's sacrifice was bigger, it was at the very end of the Heresy, Horus was about to do some kind of anime move and kill the Emperor for good, but this one Guardsman comes out of nowhere and body-blocks it, saving the Emperor.
8:08 Meros became Space Ghost Rider!
Basically a better version of the Fulgrim story. Lol.
9:55 Yasugei's sacrifice on dark glass to get the scars fleet out of the grasp of Mortarion. That one made me tear up.
Finally Majorkill talking about Meros
There is a tale like this in every short story anthology. What made this one different? My two favorites are the Costodes that forces a deamon assassin, who can kill the Emperor, possessed him. Then he wanders the webway forever hiding to protect the Emperor and lose his soul.
Then there is the librarian who burned up his soul on the 2nd golden throne to save the Imperium.
The Bell of Lost Souls on Terra tolls for them all known and unknown.
Are you talking about Ra Endymion in the first story?
2nd Golden Throne, do you mean Targutai and the Glass Throne who sacrificed himself to get the White Scars to Terra.
@@slayer6498 That's the one. Doesn't stopping a chaos rift from opening, and Black Glass being taken by traitors, along with stopping 2 traitor fleets equal to Meros?
@@waiyanwinhtike That's the one. This custodes sacrificed his soul for the Emperor. Surely that beats Meros.
Being on the demon planet with them currently enraged and all, you should have added the part with the contingent of Space Wolves and their reaction when they finally understood what was happening and what it means for them. Was a good read overall!
Majorkill is the kind of guy who teaches Titsnitch how to verbally speak Braille
'The Emperors Fist' Tattoo around the circumference of your Rsole would be a worthy sacrifice .
The greatest sacrifice in 40k is every time a Lamenter wakes up and gets out of bed instead of curling up and crying all day
I love the new BA lore vid. Thanks bro. Both me and my bro picked up a set of dice just to yell "G'day F'Heads" when we roll off. Thanks for the content!
Always do love catching a majorkill vid right after my nightshift!
Literally just finished listening to this book on my way in to work this morning. Great timing!
Before they made him a perpetual, Ollandius Pious or whatever when he faced off against Horus AFTER Horus had killed Sanguinius and clapped the Emperor. Man was armed with only his giant balls of adamantium and a flash light against someone who had just smacked down the big E.
He saw the light that was that perfect beautiful Hawk Boi.
Erebus getting his face cut off by Horus for being cheeky, was a great end to that book.
Corrupted Sanguinus looked pretty damn cool.
Long time listener, first time commenter, really find your vids informative and therapeutic. Like so chill 😊 it's a breath of fresh air how open you are about tabboo subjects in society and you're pushing the drive for all subjects to be normalised! Love it
When you see your primarch about to surrender himself to chaos to 'save' his legion
Meros: Hold my gene seed
Thanks for the content ❤️
With soooo much negative energy in the world theses days. I truly love all the positive energy your videos bring.
Thanks for this. Always appreciate the happy delivery.
This gives a whole new spin to the original idea of Sanguinius being like, “Bugger, he took my drugs!”
Love the content my man, keep up the good work and the good fight!
Jesus!!! Blood Angels are cool af mann like there is so much cool stuff happening with them lately and definitely my favourite Legion by far
Ra taking that demon sword in the chest was pretty sacrificial.
Actually that wasn't Horuses trap, but Erebuses. Horus even told him to not do it and that he would fail at trying to corrupt Sanguinius...
2 finals tomorrow and i wanna say thank you for the help with distressing from these videos
He removed his own geneseed. ... HE REMOVED HIS OWN GENESEED!! 😲 Seriously, I know the rest of his story is badass, and I'm very appreciative of you sharing it with us (because I had honestly never heard of him before now), but for some reason that single event stands out to me.
I'm about to finish fear to tread! Love your videos, keep it up and take care of yourself
Glad you also covered this Noble son of the Angel
>Has there very been a greater sacrifice in the history of 40K?
Ollanius Pius: Am I a joke to you?
Peak Khorne achieved with Kabunda cheering the slaughter of his own army
The moment when the names used sound oddly familiar and the realisation that the video is spoiling the audio book you are currently listening to.
Name a bigger sacrifice than this I would say that the emperor simply being the emperor is god enough
Umm another good sacrifice would be the one son of Vulkan who threw himself into Mount Deathfire to bring Vulkan back?
Also obligatory Mini for Yarrick request.
i like how Yarric sacrificed a commander so he can send the rest of the commanders men to theyr deaths at the hands of the necrons.
“Rylanor deserved better than you, O Primarch! He deserved better than all of us!”
Just read Fear to Tread a week ago and now I have to feel this all over again😢
*Any greater sacrifice? Yes; the Emperor. Ten-thousand years of suffering on the Golden Throne to keep the Astronomican burning while holding back the tides of Chaos to give humanity a glimmer of hope. All while everything he built and hoped for decays, crumbles, and is corrupted.*
So, this dude is basically Sanguinius’s Ra Endymion.
Aaah.... the noble Meros. Sad story. Makes me cry
Gotta say, the chaos-hawkboy art is pretty terrifying.
Thinking that somehow Sangiunius will be the next to return with the rage plague going on currently. Maybe as a greater demon of the imperium.
I learned about Meros back in the HHL, reading his lore was sad.
Majorkill great videos mate keep it up
Actually red this book last week. Good one btw
Meros AKA The Red Angel I believe would wipe the FLOOR with Angron ..!!.!!
This why i come here obscure characters getting the spotlight.
He was a surprise addition to the Blood Angels omnibus, but it was cool
Congrats almost getting to 500k MK, wish you would do more fantasy warhammer but I know thats not your thing, keep it up!
I bet a certain golden chapter master Was the one who inherited his gene seed
I like that I successfully advised the tattoo's font...
Majorkill you should predict the next primarch to return
He's already done that mate
Great character and potential, I hope GW does something about it one day. Kind of how I still have hopes Arik Taranis pops up again somewhere.
Now in terms of sacrifice, it's not as epic, but what the crew of the Sysipheum endured to secure the Magna Mater was an awesome story arc.
Day seventy four of asking majorkill to compare Abaddon and Archaeon
In a way, a chaotic Sanguinius would be even more tragic than Angron.
I finally know who that burning astartes is in the chaos picture!
The guy who jumped into a volcano for Vulcan
this is crazy i just listened to this book yesterday
4:56 Male pattern baldness the worst type of corruption
I have been waiting so long for this
I will say a Khornite Sanguinius would look incredible.
