Leigh, this was the first song I can ever remember giving an ovation to when it finished. I literally clapped for a good 20 seconds when it ended. Easily one of my all-time favorite first impressions. Right up there with Accept's "Pandemic" and "Teutonic Terror," Stryper's "Marching Into Battle" and "Yahweh," Todd La Torre's "Darkened Majesty" and "Vexed," and Pretty Maids' "Future World" and "Pandemonium" on first impressions. Absolute instant fucking classic. Since The Reckoning came out, I've jammed it in my car at least 50 times. It's that fucking brilliant. Like you, I thought "Humanoid" was good, but this is on another level brilliant. I HAD to come here and see your reaction because I KNEW you'd LOVE it! Your head bangs were right there with mine. LOVE the medium-paced rhythm, drums and cymbals. They all hit and fit at the right moments. I find myself drumming to this song more than anything. It hearkened back to the pace of Teutonic Terror. Tornillo again is spot on with his gruff vocals with his screams at just the right spots. Absolutely amazing at his age how he can still belt it out. And YES, you know Accept is going to bring those tantalizing gang vocals. And what can be said about Wolf? His guitar riffs are so damn unique. When those howling licks hit, you instantly know it's Wolf. For me, the Tornillo/Accept era is a million times better than the Udo/Accept era. In 2013, I said then the three best resurgent 80s bands were Accept, Stryper and Pretty Maids. All three continue to be fucking brilliant with each successive album. IMO, all three bands have made better music since 2010 than the era that put them on the map.
Hey mate, totally with you on this track. Interesting as well with the resurgence you spoke about with Stryper, Accept and Pretty maids. A lot of the time nostalgia comes into play when people do not budge on preferring the classic line ups of bands. Another band that have really turned it around after years of shit music is queensryche, but still people want Tate back???!!!!

My answer is always the same...did KISS become a tribute band in 1980 after losing half its members? Did Van Halen become a tribute band in 1985 after losing Roth? IF you enjoyed, or God forbid, bought their music post-original members, then you're a hypocrite. I've told the purists if you only want to see original members, there are hundreds of QR youtube videos to watch. Why continue to chime in with their shit to comment on my videos on a band that parted with Tate 12 fucking years ago!? It's like they want their mommies and daddies to get back together after a divorce. Newsflash...these bands divorce for MANY reasons and very rarely get back together and when they do, it's an unemotional money grab that have little intentions of making good music again i.e. see Dokken and Lynch. Purists, stop whining and enjoy today's fucking music because one day, we'll all be in our 70s and there will be nothing left but 100% tribute bands i.e. see KISS. Enjoy them while they are still making good NEW music. A tribute band doesn't make NEW music. A tribute band plays nothing but the oldies. Exactly, Tate's last 7 albums with QR were pure shit. I gave up after OM2. I considered QR dead, gone, never to return. When Tate was let go in 2012, I said "No shit." When Eddie Trunk played "Eye 9" one day in 2015, I said OMG they're back! I can now get to enjoy one of my fav bands again! And they've made three consecutive killer studio albums since Condition Human. But no, these purists won't even give the albums a chance. Todd is writing brilliant fucking music, has a brilliant mind, goes against the grain often, thus brings a refreshing new element to QR. I also tell the Tate backers to go listen to Todd's solo album and compare it to Tate's new stuff. Oh wait...Tate has no new music, so there's no comparison. Tate is the tribute band, not Todd/QR.

Can you imagine Tate (with his business disagreements causing his departure and fighting over the band name in court), DeGarmo (who quit and hasn't practiced in 20+ years) and Rockenfield (who SUED the fucking band and got "his" cut of the band settling out of court AFTER playing mindfuck AWOL games with the band for 7 years, posting unreleased QR demos on his website as his own music AND took to Facebook to start a war with Todd over selling used drumsticks he autographed and gave to Todd after the Condition Human sessions) getting back together with Wilton and Jackson? How many...no not months...no not weeks...no not hours...how many minutes THAT combo would last? The paramedics would likely have to be called if you placed that quintet in a closed room together. And THAT'S the collaboration the purists want to see back together??? It didn't work for shit for 7 albums between 1997 and 2011 with Tate and Rockenfield, but after they bludgeoned one another with law suits, it's going to work now???
Immediately when you hear that guitar sound, you know it’s Accept! Unmistakably Accept! Love the pumping riffing, and then Mark Tornillo coming in with a high note shout. The soloing is also great. My only little thingy I have with 3 guitars is that soloing melody on top of the chorus. I wouldn’t need that, would have loved to enjoy the pure riff. But that’s a minor issue. Pure teutonic metal that only Accept, Primal Fear, Mystic Prophecy and Rage can do.
Well, Leigh, this fits my idea of heavy metal. The sound (dare I say again, "screamy"), the look (I actually like the lead singer's outfit), can't tell what the lyrics are with just one go. Perhaps a bit too far out of my "I love it" range. Question: do you ever review female bands? (smiling: when's your reaction to Beyonce's newest album and black women country singers? I know, I know, that's not your focus.) Appreciate hearing new music and all your enthusiasm and commentary! Merci.
Not too fond about these new releases tbh. That’s no longer Accept, that’s the Wolf Hoffmann Vanity Project. The song is okay but just start a new band already after burning bridges with so many of the original guys. 🤷🏻♂️ Still great reaction as always, Leigh! Keep it up! 🤘
