Mandarin is major language in China Taiwan or to the Chinese ancestry (Like in Singapore Malaysia) Cantonese in other hand mostly speak in Guangdong region Hong Kong and Macau (And of course most Cantonese or Hong Konger in UK ) And how to distinguish it ? Simple It’s like comparing British Commonwealth English with American English
