Same issue with the newer m50 mrk ii and I am 3 months out of warranty. After Searching through my normal tech forums I found a lot of people with this issue and everyone saying canon would have to service the camera. Thanks to your video I had the camera working again after digging around for the adapter you bought. Very weird fix but hey whatever works! I also had to leave the camera plugged in for a few mins before it would power on at first I thought it wasn’t going to work but after waiting a few mins she came back to life. As soon as the camera receives power from the wall and powers on all issues seem to disappear. Very odd problem and odder fix. Seems like these cameras need a hard reset every once and awhile. Aw man... I was so excited for this video, because we have a Canon EOS M50 in great condition that just ... doesn't turn on. Unfortunately, the trick with buying a dummy battery doesn't work at all for me because I had already been USING a dummy battery for about months before the camera went dead! Very glad to see yours started working for some reason. Ours won't turn on with brand new batters, with the direct to wall battery, etc.
I'm having this problem and use both batteries and a dummy battery as shown in this video. I've never noticed switching between them did anything, but maybe? However, I have the problem with the dummy battery as much as the proper batteries. The issue for me seems to be the battery's contact inside the camera. With the dummy battery, I sometimes need to push the cable in, which pushes the battery harder against the contacts, and this gets it to turn on, until I let go, then it loses power. With enough wiggling, it eventually settles into a position that keeps it on, until the next time I switch between battery and dummy battery. The proper batteries also require progressively more wiggling, pushing, inserting/popping out, before they land in a position that provides suitable connection to stay on. I don't think it's anything about a hard reset for me here, just that they're not making a proper connection to the contacts. But it's getting worse, so I'm looking for videos like this that may point to a cause.
I have the same problem. Camera (M100) worked fine with batteries. Then I bought a dummy battery (not the same one as shown here) for filming. Everything worked perfectly out of the box. In the evening I pulled out the cable out of the dummy battery and left the dummy battery unplugged in the cam overnight. Next morning cam was dead. I searched the internet for tips and tried everything. cleaned the pins, tried a new card, fresh batteries, detached the lens, card and battery over night…nothing worked. I called Canon but they do not provide service for the EOS M100 anymore. I haven't tried to leave the cam with the dummy battery attached for a while, because I´m not trusting the dummy battery that caused the problem. I purchased the Dummy Battery shown here to give it a try. Hopefully it works.
@@r0b0tni My dummy battery has a visibly different metal in use for the contact (greyish), so that may be silver. My guess is that the battery contact to the camera is causing some chemical reaction such as corrosion that's then preventing power from reaching the camera. I may try finding something to better clean the internal contact, and I'll remember your experience here and not leave the dummy battery inserted for long periods of time to reduce impacts on the internal contacts.

I was having a similar problem with my Canon EOS M. It had been sitting (battery out) for about 4 years. I bought 2 new batteries and charged them and it still wouldn't power on even though the lens would move a bit when I closed the battery hatch. I tried connecting to my computer via USB and still nothing. After desperately pressing and holding every button, I started doing combos. After holding the "on" button and the green "playback" icon button simultaneously, it finally powered on. I had to press the off button in rapid succession to get it to power back off. After taking some photos and about an hour of elapsed time+powering on and off (several times), it now powers on if I hold the on button by itself for about 10 seconds (sometimes after a couple cycles of 10 seconds then pressing it a couple times normally) and it powers off normally for the most part, sometimes I have to press and or briefly hold the off button a couple of times. I'm hoping the gremlins will eventually work themselves out, but the camera seems to be functioning normally.

But when I turn to OFF position right from ON position, the green light is on for like 2 seconds. And then, when I turn to ON position right after, the green light flashes for like a second. And there is a clicking sound. I tried with the original Canon lens and it's the same thing. Spent hours looking online and nothing has worked like taking everything out and leaving out for a day. Pressing P for 30 seconds, etc. Thank you so much for your help in advance! HELP PLEASE!!!

@@OMGParis-fo1yl Hi there! It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with your M50 Mark II. 😅 Mine didn't even get to the stage of turning off yet! Even switching to the standard lens didn't help so far. I tried using a battery adapter with a power input hole and connected it to a powerful power bank, It actually worked! Seems like something mechanical is jammed and needed that extra power to get it running

I've been troubleshooting and realized it might be mechanical. There were three times before when the camera fell to the ground, which likely caused some mechanical issues. Even switching to the standard lens didn't help so far. I tried using a battery adapter with a power input hole and connected it to a powerful power bank, It actually worked! Seems like something mechanical is jammed and needed that extra power to get it running
God bless you!
Thank you so much 😊
yes thank yoou for sharing, its can be searched by "m50 dummy battery"
You should look for it ac/dc adapter is what I think I searched for
I’m trying this thank you! I am devastated about my camera
I pray that it works for you 🙏
@@craftyartshack thank you, just ordered and subscribed :)
@@MomOfMany did it work?
I ordered the part same day and my dog took the package and I cannot find it! I have to reorder :/
I have th same problem now, Canon should think about fixing this issue.
Hope this works for you!
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!❤
Glad this helped
Yesterday, during Birthday party my m50 suddenly stopped working. I is that same reason to change battery pack? I have two full batteries charged, but m50 canon camera doesn't power on..... Yet
If you change the battery and it still doesn’t work. Then get the A/C battery power adapter and follow the instructions given in the video. That’s what worked for me.
Hi I tried to remove the Sigma 105mm (with and without the EF adapter) but it works without the sigma but when I plug back the sigma, it doesn't work no matter if there's a dummy or a real battery :(
I’m sorry that it doesn’t work out for you 😞
@@craftyartshack thank you. Finally the device turnt on without the sigma mounted on. I heard it's a Sigma/Canon issue. I turned on the M50 without lens then force plugged the sigma. It finally worked. Don't ask me why haha but I had a good sleep knowing my DSLR is working. Thank you!!!!
Omg i will try this thank you so much!!!!!!

hello what is the name of the reset battery my camera m200 will not turn on i cant see the name on the box
C'est Quoi le nom de ce chargeur
Tnx a lot 🇲🇰🇷🇸
Your Welcome
Mine does this too - it's so frustrating! I've not bought the dummy battery, but I find to get mine working, I have to leave it without a battery or card in it for a couple of hours and then try a fresh battery. Otherwise, I find if I remove the battery and card and blow into the battery compartment, then it usually starts working! No idea why! Thanks for this video.
Awesome
What is the namefor that little think that look as a battery?
AC/DC adapter cord
@@craftyartshack ok ty

I have the same "F-ing" issue with Canon SL3, I have tried every thing nothing works, I even took it to camera shop, just to diagnose the problem they want to charge me over $100.
I just, said forget it I would try and order one of this on ebay or Amazon to reset my Camera.
I hope it works for you 👍 I used Amazon bc it was easier to return if it didn’t work.
