My Mom planted roses and when she was propogating them, she had 3 leaves above the soil and two leaves below. She then covered them with a glass mason jar in the fall, and in the spring they had roots. She graded roses for Jackson and Perkins. I miss her. She lived to 101 1/2 years. I'm 81. I enjoy watching your videos from Ohio, USA

It’s amazing when you clean up dirt or anything of the matter how wonderful it looks after wards. You both keep everything in its place after cleaning up each building it really looks awesome. I love all the paint colors you have chosen I love all the different types of green you have used. I look forward to your videos each week. I would enjoy making so much of what your doing to make this a beautiful home, but I would be so scared of all the bugs😊. It’s also so nice that both your parents enjoy helping out and friends as well. Have a wonderful week and hopefully we will see you again soon. Thanks for sharing.🇺🇸

The sweet little kitten is such a treat. I love her sleeping in Bertus jacket. The fog over the valleys in that part of Italy is really something. Reminds me of the fog that rolls in over San Francisco. I’m amazed at the amount of wood that you are finding in the attics of all these buildings. The previous owners seemed to have a similar ‘waste not, want not’ philosophy. Looking forward to seeing the new green color paint on the pine. It is a very pretty color.

You're doing really well with all the things you are tackling, the windows look amazing, well done both of you, it must be lovely to have watertight solid windows again. I am interested to see how the propogating of roses goes, I too have seen them propogated into potatoes, can't wait to see if they take as I'd like to give it a try too. It's lovely to have your parents there helping and the visit to Turin looks like it was a lovely day.

Your Kitty has beautiful markings. My cat has been an inside city cat for 8 yrs. Recently, we moved to the country & slowly she explores outside for short periods. The law in Australia does not allow cats out after dark unless they have a cat run. (E.g. in a caged cat run). She gets frightened & runs back inside by herself, which is what your kitty will do as time goes by.
Love all the paint colour testing, There is a lot to be done before deciding the best approach. Good Luck

Are you two familiar with Martijn Doolaard? He is located south of Turin and up in the mountains restoring two old stone buildings. And occasionally drives in to Turin, though it’s not necessarily close to him. Also he is originally from the Netherlands. I find his work is excellent and cinematography top notch. Very creative man, like you two, love it. His videos are worthy of short documentary awards, he loves film making. Maybe you are aware of him but if not- you may enjoy his offerings. Off grid living with shepards roaming the mountains in summer, the sound of cow bells 🙂

Two hundred-year-old pieces of timber stashed away and forgotten-what a discovery! I hope you find something truly memorable to create from all of it. As I’m sure, for a timber artisan, it would be well treasured. The same goes for that plough and the 'hockey stick' yoke, which must surely be part of the farm's provenance and are undoubtedly is so museum-worthy. I keep thinking about all the farm equipment that was removed so you could start the house’s new life and how vital and purpose-specific it all was for making the farm operate successfully. Only the house itself, along with its many parts stacked in the great sheds and buildings for repurposing into its restoration now remains, revealing itself as the material and spiritual anchor-like a Giorgio de Chirico structure-for the good faith of that business and for the lives and well-being of the generations of families that lived, laughed, loved and once farmed there.
Two hundred years ago, the rural landscapes near Turin were adorned with a riot of colors, as fields of wildflowers painted the hillsides and gardens blossomed with life. I’m told in those days, flowers were not merely decorative; they were woven into the fabric of daily life, symbolizing both beauty and connection to the earth. The sweet scent of blooming violets and the vibrant hues of poppies and sunflowers would have filled the air, echoing the rhythms of nature and the heartfelt labor of the farmers tending to their land. The floral displays celebrated the changing seasons and marked the milestones of life, from joyous festivals to solemn gatherings. In every petal and leaf, in every tree and field, there lies a rich tapestry of stories and emotions, connecting generations to the land they cherished and to one another.
How dearly I’m sure that your old farm would have been loved and cherished! Its many residents from different generations who along with it grew old there , and who, like the house, would have hung on to the very end to remain in its familiar spaces, and who are now, I’m sure, the smiles imprinted in the clear blue skies and drifting clouds that come to keep you company so regually, along with the angelic light of those majestic sunsets. If you look up as you sit there in the hot evening, because its such a romaticlly peaceful place, can you see a glimpse of heaven, for I am sure you must. Best

Consider using a plastic 1 litter soda bottle to root your rose stems. Cut the bottle in half and drill holes in the bottom for drainage. Place soil and cutting in the bottom and cover with the top. Do not place in direct sunlight and cook. If you don't cover the cutting in the beginning, the stem will dry out before roots are formed.

Consider putting an Airtag tracker on Pelliccia's collar when she's allowed to roam freely on your estate. It will alleviate your concerns when or if she ends up climbing to the top of a tree or decides to take an overnight adventure. BTW, over ripe bananas & peels are excellent food to grow roses. I lived in So. Calif where the annual Rose Parade is celebrated so they know about growing roses. Bury the bananas into the soil at base of the plants. I Googled making homemade root hormone for your cuttings & best results:
    1. Add 2 US tbsp (30 mL) of raw honey to 2 cups (470 mL) of freshly boiled water, then wait for it to cool. Soak your cuttings for 2-3 hours, then plant.
    2. OR mash up the gel from an aloe vera leaf until it forms a runny consistency. Coat the ends of your cuttings in the gel, then plant.
    3. Alternatively, crush an uncoated 325 mg aspirin pill and dissolve the powder in 1 cup (240 mL) of distilled water. Soak the cuttings for 2-3 hours, then plant.
