Evangelion changed my life. It's about what it is to be human. I was 16 when I started watching the series. Then the movies. Then the Rebuild. And when 3.0+1.0 came out, I felt a sense of relief. The last movie made me so happy and relieved that I started crying at the end of it.
Eva means everything to me, and that makes me really nervous to ever make videos on it 😂 Glad you were brave! Anyhow, keep going your sound is really good too
Ya it is nerve wracking to write about something you love and post it because it's out in the world and will be judged, but also people enjoy when you do talk about it because they can tell that you love it and that is what resonates with them. Don't be afraid to go and try something, it's not always gonna be pretty and it might be messy but it's you and that's all that matters at the end of the day. If you do write a video on it I will look forward to it!
Evangelion is definitely depressing. I feel it's because for some it shows the depths of what a person can suffer through and become. But I think the rebuild series is such a nice ending because it shows how it actually is to grow past that version of themselves and how long it takes
It's crazy how you just come back to the series every passing day, even if the series is now nearly 30 years old. Most shows just want to show you a copy pasta of a story and make money. But I haven't seen anyone copy Evangelion or make a story with as much emotion to make all of the main characters die. The characters are well done, the scenes are well done and the mystery that makes us all have to want to re watch it all again.
Evangelion was utterly horrifying. It was the mirror through which my worst traits gazed back at me. Eva's true worth is propelling the viewer into choosing to not be defined by your faults.
As far as I'm aware: In video format, Evangelion is the most succesful artistic implementation to represent existentialism. In game format, Nier: Automata takes the crown. The Talos principle 1 comes in second place. If you want to go on a journey of discovery, have a go with those 2 games.
@@1calv I tried it and was enjoying the concept but damn, there was this one location where you had to follow some anti-gravity trail and it was SO unclear where to go that it made me rage quit after endless dying, resetting and having to fly back. My ego couldn't take it i guess because I've never had issues with platforming in games until that shit. Thank you for reminding me, I think I will try it out again because I know I'm wrong for quitting at that point.
It was actually "Serial Experiments Lain" that held a mirror in front of me. But "Evangelion" did help me relief some pressure I had on my chest. It and "Madoka Magica" made me understand what I want most in a story, and to an extent, in our world.
@@Themessyexpress it’s really weird first time I liked it but didn’t love it but it’s like it changed but it’s still the same I just needed a year to think on it.
Ya the first viewing is always weird for whoever watches it especially the final episodes, but the curiosity to want to understand it brings everyone back and they end up loving it. Or those like my friend who watches it once and hates it 😭
@creedecriswell634 Asuka is the best!! I would say it is worth watching the rebuilds once if you enjoy the original series the first movie and half of the second are almost beat for beat with the original just with some minor Tweeks that have major changes down the line. So I would say watch the anime, then End of Evangelion, then the rebuild series so you have context for everything.
I wanted the second impact to happen so these terrible cast of characters would get their comeuppance. Asaku was cool though. Shinji fapping to Asaku in the hospital was the perfect metaphor for Eva fans
I think you meant third impact. But you and my friend are in the same boat wishing that everyone would have just died, but can we let penpen live he did nothing wrong...well except for the few war crimes in his time with the Canadian army. I agree Asuka is awesome. Ya shinji cranking one out to a comatose Asuka was just...bad.
Never made me look in the mirror, and I just finished it, I liked the start but it fell if because nothing made sense. End of Eva sucked so why did I watch it? Because my friend forced me.
The funny thing is my friend said the exact same thing about the series lol. I forced him to watch End of Evangelion and his reaction was "I am not watching another movie with you again for at least a few months"

It saved me from depression and showed me my value and purpose
I thank it for that

Great video man! One of the best video essays of EVA.
Thanks dude!!!
Videos essay with less than 1k views never miss
I'm glad I hit the mark
Evangelion had me depressed for a whole month which is why it is still one of my favorite animes to this day as none have been able to do that to me

It is definitely a generational piece, not something that can be duplicated many have tried to replicate it but to no luck
One of the best videos I've ever seen about evangelion.
Thank you!!

Eva's true worth is propelling the viewer into choosing to not be defined by your faults.
Yup it's hard to look and see the worst parts of yourself but I commend you for not letting your faults define you

Have you played Outer Wilds? If not, I recommend it because it represents existentialism brilliantly.

I have seen a lot of overlap in the evangelion and Lain community and its good to hear that these series (assuming) have helped you.
Evangellion has become my favorite anime.
That's awesome to hear!! Ya Eva is such a good series with so much depth and an active community so good choice!

Also are the rebuilds at least worth checking out once in your opinion

I was expecting some reflection on the show, got a summary of the plot instead
Noted, I appreciate the feedback
0:12 Can someone name that anime?
@CdrChaos Fly me to the moon, it is such a cute and wholesome series definitely would recommend!!!
