It took decades to finally realize that it's not only Balto who should be a star in this serum run in January 1925.. it's about time to praise Togo as well.. especially he was the lead dog who ran farther than Balto.. please dont forget Fox, Fritz and other 150 dogs and all the 20 mushers who participated in the serum run relay... there were 5 dogs who died in this relay.. it means they gave more than what they can give :( .. I hope TOGO and other 150 dogs will have statue as well like Balto...

The whole Nome story is astonishing, really. The logistics of getting the medicine to the town, in that era, were just insane. In hindsight it was a million-to-one shot, that only worked because everyone involved gave absolutely everything.
I love that dog he had a strong heart. I've been reading everything I can find about his true life story. This happened in 1925... a deadly disease call diphtheria was raging in Alaska.
This was a terrific movie! Combine a true story about courage, selflessness and a brave old dog and it will be tough not to be moved to tears. In defense of how it was all reported and the fame Balto and Gunnar Kassen received above all the others, that was the team that brought the serum on its final leg. A team that had bravely traveled through the night with terrible winds and nearly zero visibility. So they were all brave, and every man and dog did their part.

There was another named Fox but they decided to select Balto because of its name. When I learned, I checked their history and it was true. Balto wasn't even Gunner's dog. Gunner was a complete fraud. I know that Balto is just a dog but Gunner was a Human.

Togo, without detracting from it, of course, received recognition because his owner was a friend and employee of Linderberg, and it was through this famous personage in the USA, that a national tour was organized to publicize the feat, the movie intermingling part of the history of Balto. Balto was a hero by himself, Togo is a manufactured hero thanks to Linderberg's support.

Without the effort of Togo there would be no part of Balto...Togo did about 255 miles of the most difficult journey...Balto did the last leg and only 55 miles , give or take, Balto is a hero, but Togo is a true LEGEND.
Lol Batlo traverse is much easier compare to Togo. Togo run from the starting point to the pick up point of the relay a 264 mile. While Balto was the back up dog incase Togo can't complete the traverse. Read the wiki

I can count the films I've seen twice in a day on one hand. This is one.
Balto and other dogs are heroes, but TOGO and Seppala are great legend.
