They refuse to take any responsibility, which is the fundamental problem. They cut defense spending to near nothing. They decided to shut down nuclear power plants and rely on Russia even after they demonstrated their territorial ambitions by taking crimea.
Now they want to get angry people like Elon for how utterly incompetent they are.

USA isn't going down, not with people like you living there feeling the way you do. Most Americans are good people, your president isn't, but Trump alone is not the USA. We're not against USA, the real USA where real people live is mostly good. We're against the oligark bubble where crazy people like Trump and Musk live. They're the minority, powerfull enough to hurt US economy and diplomatic ties for a short period of time, but they will both go away sooner or later and when they do the rest of America is welcome to rejoin the free world.

You are probably right and the old adage of 'what goes up, must come down' is very true. What is equally true is that what is down has only the direction of going up again and perhaps it is important for us all as individuals or countries to experience being down so that we rise up again stronger and better. It will be tough in the short-term for Americans if your prediction is correct and I suspect that it is.

But Elon Musk started this 25 years ago with a very aggressive timeline and production and because it was all privately owned it had much less politics getting in the way. It would be very possible to reproduce his SpaceX succes but it would need a good 2 or 3 decades of absolute dedication without meandering. What the EU lacks are large tech companies, which is due to a number of issues ranging from national rules, a lack of a strong unified European capital market and a lack of government investments in some countries.
