Update March 2022: I've had to remove any affiliate or discount codes because ASIC has recently come out to say this constitutes financial advice - I can't legally recommend a platform as I'm not a financial advisor, nor can I get any affiliate commission (not that it's much money anyway). This goes for anyone basically online so keep that in mind when viewing other reviews.
Hi Ray, Thanks for sharing. I love the auto-investing feature. But what I want is to invest $3000 in just 1 of my 3 etfs each month, let's say $3000 in IVV in Jan, $3000 in VAS in Feb, $3000 in IAA in Mar, $3000 in IVV in Apr, $3000 in VAS in May, $3000 in IAA in Jun. Will Pearler be able to do this? Thanks.
G'day mate, for that specific requirement I think you'd need to manually do that - or just do 33% to each of them (but more fees I'd assume) Ask them and they'll be able to help. I generally lean towards less manual intervention and if the fees are reasonable I just pay it. But up to you!
@@raycorc Thanks for your reply mate. Could I ask another question please if that's okay? With the target percentage let's say 20% 30% 50%, are they based on the market value of your holdings or they are based on the amount you intend to invest across them. Thanks mate.
60 & now on my own. Living w/son, so don't have to worry too much about housing. As a longtime home maker, I only have 12k super, but have 70k savings. I make about 12k a year working PT (self-employed) after MVA left me unable to work FT. Is it too late to start investing with something like pearler? I have not touched my savings in 12 years. It just earns nothing now.
Thanks for watching Tracy, I don't think it's ever too late! As you get older typically your investing strategy will be a little more conservative as you'll want to use the money sooner than say a 30 year old. With Pearler you'll have to pick your investments yourself, you may want to also have a look at Stockspot as they might easier to get started with (but have different fees) - they help you pick a portfolio based on your risk profile and personal goals. Would recommend contacting both of them to get a feel for how they can help
I understand Pealer also does not have live price feed when buying which might be a con - i get the point about investing regardless of timing but i do have a quick look to see if the one i want is moving throughout that day or so
yep that's a fair point, that would be handy - their team is pretty receptive to suggestions, should let them know. They have a live dev roadmap too which shows the improvements they're in the process of building too
Hey Heypreet I did have a large amount invested in ETFs about 2.5 years ago. I think it was 300-400k, maybe more - I forget the exact amount, but I ended up selling a bunch of it to put a 700k deposit on our family home. I am still a fan of ETFs, but I wanted to buy a family home!
G’day there, can’t legally recommend a platform sorry - Pearler and Self Wealth both sell Betashares Nasdaq, from memory Pearler might be cheaper in terms of fees, like $6.50 per trade instead of $9.50 per trade, but check with them to confirm there’s no other fees. Most of them are probably pretty similar to be honest!
Awesome review! I've subscribed. With the auto-invest feature, every time you use it are you charged a $9.50 brokerage fee (unless you invest in a brokerage-free ETF)?
Thanks for subscribing! Glad you liked it and yes that’s correct That said - they’ve literally announced this week they’ll be dropping their fees further around Feb/March so it’ll be cheaper soon
Hi Ray. I want to invest my money on VAS every month as dollar cost averaging. Do you think this app is good for that? Sorry I am very new to this stuff.
Thanks for watching Zoro - I can't legally recommend any app because I'm not a financial advisor but Pearler will definitely allow you to dollar cost average into VAS each month (you can automate it too) I believe a couple of weeks ago they also reduced their fees
Hi Arjun, in Australia mutual funds are normally called managed funds - here's more info about them before deciding: www.asx.com.au/mfund/education.htm Might be best to speak to a financial planner
Hey Elv it doesn’t, their whole philosophy is around long term ‘boring’ investing - so buy and hold, not selling when the stock goes low. If that’s important to you I think another platform would be more suited
Auto buy feature encourages you to buy in small amounts and generate more brokerage fees. What is brokerage on $100,000 transaction ? This platform is designed to ripoff small money naive investors .
Auto buy allows people who want to automate their investing to do so (this is a pretty popular feature), I agree that multiple smaller purchases would be costly with fees (I mention this in the video), although their have reasonable rates in my opinion for Australian shares (flat fee $6.50) and often have discounts on brokerage if you refer your friends etc. Shop around though, many of these platforms are reducing their fees if that's important to you

Great video.. now I understand why the free etfs - only allow a $500 deposit
yep exactly, thanks for watching!
Love the channel/topics. New viewer. subbed and liked! Looking forward to your content! All the best Ray!

Hey Ray, thanks for this video. Do you really have 450k invested in ETF’s? Can you please give little breakdown? Thanks:)

Nice work with your channel by the way!
@@raycorc Thanks
What about options. How does Pearler cope with trading in options????
G’day Phil, you can’t trade options with Pearler at this stage. Their focus is mainly on helping people do more set and forget passive etf investing
how do we get tax summary reports from pearler?
Hi Ray,
Which CHESS Sponsored broker would you recommend for investing in Betashares Nasdaq here in Australia? Self-wealth or pearler or any other?

What to do when reporting for tax is this generated from app?

@@raycorc That’s awesome! Thanks :)
You can buy $100 worth of ‘credits’ that give you $150 worth of trade credit which means brokerage works out at around $6.50 per trade

hi
Wher can i find the open ended mutual fund stock

also just realised I spelled 'sponsored' wrong, oops
does it have a stop loss component

Stake only charges 3 dollars
Yep you're right, seems like many providers are continuing to drop their fees - it's a race to the bottom at the moment
