The back-and-forth between Radhika and Kathleen regarding capital controls was revealing. Also the fact that Kathleen literally laughed when calling the IMF 'redistributive.' She knows the current system is piracy camoflaged in complexity.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Thank you Radhika, Kathleen and Ben, for this excellent discussion revealing as you do the pros, cons and difficulty involved in the BRICS progress toward establishing alternative forms of trade and payment and greater security from the now weaponised U.S. dominated forms. The major advantage of having a form of government such as the CPC guiding the BRICS process is that it is more purpose driven than the less stable U.S. profit driven form of governance.

I am afraid that Kathleen is worried about the threat that BRICS is posing to the current System. On the Gold exchange which she stated that Russia, China and Dubai have at present, and in her opinion that these countries would not want more, betrays the fact that Russia and China want to greatly reduce the influence of the current dominant Commodity Exchanges, Comex and LBMA. BRICS basically wants a Commodity Exchange which reflects true supply and demand unlike the current ones where speculators and Big Western Financial Institutions dominate. It can be deduced that what BOTH Russia and China want in BRICS, is likely to happen, it's just a matter of time.

It's funny how the West complains. Too many Margaret pouring in the country to me. The markets are pouring in to England and America. Well, if you want migration to stop like this tlet, Africa, breeze and let these countries breathe and that's what they're doing. Whether you like it or not, the world is changing as they breeze and get better and become richer and take care. Of the people who pull out of poverty in those countries. There'll be no need for migrants pouring into Europe and America. In their thousands on boats anymore, khadafi himself said that. And I agree with him a 110%.

Kate Elizabeth Cressotti thinks a BRICS currency could reduce the dollar’s dominance, especially in emerging markets. To hedge against that, she’s suggested increasing my exposure to commodities and currencies from emerging markets.

That's what I have been thinking! There will not be a BRICS currency and instead a digital payment system. Irrespective of the level of expertise that one has within any industry, the notion that the mechanisms for international trade and currency exchange between nation states and central banks is a complex thing cannot be left unchallenged. Genuine experts consider nothing to be complex. It's a matter of perspective and turf fears. With political will, the technicalities are not so complex. Such projects are a collaborative endeavor as opposed to one person or one country assuming the know-it-all and do-it-all individually mindset.

Real, the American dollar is not going on. No way for now, it will be definitely be weakened as other countries. Move away and be more independent from the American dollar, which is great. I think most countries are not likely interested in total dedollarization, but seek an alternative vehicle that allows them to use their own currency, boost its inherent value through its own trade relations and reap some of those benefits and security without the risks of a belligerent global currency owner. It seems fair to want that.

Tyson is the most deeply informed guest you’ve ever had on the show and certainly the most “inside/outside” expert in global finance (with the possible exception of Richard Werner). She makes some brilliant and rarely heard statements: “China has had near zero inflation for thirty years and no year with zero growth….China has hacked stability….and this is what it’s trying to spread [to the rest of the world]”. And her follow up comment on the split of HSBC is most interesting (HSBC was the object of a lawsuit by Ping An, one of its largest shareholders who wanted the bank broken into two pieces).
Her observations on China’s evident preparations for war - and its stockpiling - are truly provocative. Her answers to Ben’s question at the end are simply dazzling in their expansiveness and her positive comments on progress in Asia and the Sahel are gratifying to learn.
Radhika is very persuasive on capital controls.
Please have her on again soon. And Professor Richard Werner.

Being the nbr 2 in GDP term and already nbr 1 in PPP term for China, so what China can offer to BRICS+ belt countries play a heavier contribution and equally more responsibility. I am sure China can do (already demonstrated workable) in the short term is offering a safe harbor for developing economies specifically during US interest hike. Pick and set a role model in global south country to transform this country from developing economy on the road to, if not started, join middle income economy club and then attract and expand further BRICS+ belt countries as the medium term. The most challenging and also being the one requires the most well thought-thru and efforts coordinated one is how to establish a fair, hegemon-prevention and sustainable global financial & governance system whilst tearing down the existing ones limiting, if not totally removed, its negative effect on global financial instability and economy turmoil.
