Brutal days work Jake. Nothing worse than when you ur not happy with the job you’ve done. These things happen mate. I’ve not came across a limestone job as of yet 👍🏻

Hello Mate, have you posted any update pictures of this anywhere. Would love to see the results after the biocide

How did you know it was limestone? Did you do an acid test? I find it hard to identify honed stone limestone vs sandstone. Post treat with Bac50 should come up nice. Be good to see what it looks like in 6 weeks!

In this particular one the customer already knew it was Limestone and told me when she first got in contact.
Sandstone generally has a recognisable pattern when honed. Limestone looks more like marble when honed.
There's also a distinct orange peel effect with non-honed limestone which you only ever really see on porcelain, just less uniform.

Pureseal offer a comprehensive course on all this, and you get an amazing booklet on how to identify, clean and seal every surface

Yeah I’ve done Mod 1. Very much a Pureseal fan. Normal limestone I don’t have a problem identifying but I’d have struggled to peg this as limestone without the orange peel. Think I’ll do an acid test if I’m not sure next time it comes up.

Jeez, I would have been suicidal leaving that job.
Not come across this type of limestone before, so i am grateful to see how you tackled it.
Would be great to see some shots after the biocide has worked (if it does).

Any results on the biocide Jake. It’s hard when you leave a job deflated like that. You couldn’t have done anymore to that stone. You can if a job looks a nightmare turn it down. This time of year is difficult though. Keep plugging away mate you are doing well.

Hi Jake, just wondering what would SH have done to the limestone, just stain it?

I’ve watched a load of your videos and enjoying your work. Congratulations on building a great business in a short time. I am giving some thought into setting up myself. Interested to hear your thoughts on whether it is worthwhile getting started with a cheaper, less powerful cleaner say 11lpm? I am mindful that your experience with using a 11lpm washer with a rotary cleaner didn’t really work well.

      Thanks for the support.
I would 100% recommend a lower flow petrol machine to get started, make sure you enjoy the work and can produce good results. The only benefit of a more powerful machine is that you get jobs done a bit quicker.
Check out Sid Partridges recent comparison with a low power machine.
Build technique, experience and generate a customer base before buying loads of fancy equipment is my opinion. Others will tell you different.

    Hi mate
Did you manage to get a result on the limestone ??

    • @SMOUT_
      @SMOUT_  8 місяців тому

Yes! The customer sent me some images the other day and it looks 10 times better after only a few weeks. Biocide took care of what I couldn't clean on the day 💪

OK mate 👍 great. I was only asking as I used to professionally restore floors all over uk and Europe. I specialised in stone flooring ie cleaning, honing, sealing, so if ever you are stuck or want some advice I would be happy to help.
