Trying not to pause how did that go 😮. Welcome to Ren no other artist in my 65 years on this planet has got me so excited as this young man. Buckle up have the tissues ready and enjoy.

@Ph4n_t0m I'm Acadian. My first language is French. I'm used to typos and misspelling $#!+. There's probably 5 other mistakes in the comment. If someone can't read past a simple typo like that, i couldn't care less. Plus, the extra comment just added to the algorithm. So I will just ignore it. Cheers 🍻
Ren and his cinematographer actually hope to use the Tales, Money Game 1&3, the new Tales, and his Slaughterhouse-related miniseries as part of their proof of concept for a Netflix series that blends music and storytelling. One day!
So glad you did these! The look on your face during the Violet’s tale was priceless…totally captivated by the storytelling. *This was filmed in Brighton and you can take street art tours of the city. The 90s throwback tracksuits are a Ren trademark. His video “Troubles” is practically a fashion show. Thanks for the great reactions.❤
Just wanted to add, I've seen people liken this to Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique because of the twist at the end. It's a good comparison in a way
Love your empathy and awareness with Ren's songs and your insights but also your personal connections, can see by your expression alone that you get it! First time I've seen reference to Johnny Cash and the guitar gun from anyone too which struck me when I watched it. Can't believe you don't have more subscribers.
If you want more like that, the other trilogy is Money Game 1, 2, 3. Ren really went all out on Money Game 3 and it won London Music Video Awards and International Music Video Awards.
@@karlalyne3558 I think it may be the use of the UK slang 'tuck her tight', meaning to put a child to bed (tuck them in), that throws US listeners. I may be wrong, but it seems a lot of reactors from across the pond don't seem to understand that part, though most usually get it when it comes to, 'I'm sure her mother knew'. I imagine the accent can make it hard, for some in the US, to grasp some parts too. Perhaps? Just an observation, I may be way off though. :)
@@rodentpete Yes, he wants to hop on the editing so he can get it out. I'm sure he said there are 3 Vincent Tales. So I assume more filming now or in the future. Space those individual Tales out and have time to film number 3.
Great reaction. Because of your green screen it really emphasizes the moment Ren steps from the red light to the green light when he says "as Violet's world turned to black." There is such detail on his work.
Great empathy. Nice reaction. All the clues are there in the song that Violet was their mum. I believe he has a new 'tales' coming out on his now album soon to be released. Single dads dedicate themselves more than single mums, I have no doubt you are doing a great job. Subbed for you, impressed.
I'm so glad you did the Tales!!! I guess because Violet died and Stevie did it, he went to jail. The babies went to different homes and they never knew each other. What a tragedy all the way around. Jenny took after her mother with being timid and a victim. And Screech took after the father with being violent. Tragic story 😭 The money game series is a good one too! Not a story like this but it's really good for what it covers. You deserve to have a whole lot more subs and views. One of the best reactors 🔥 I've been watching a long time now. Keep up the grind 💪🏻💜
There is nothing like that YET, there are new Tales on the rise starting with Vincents Tale (in some shape or form connected to Vincent Van Gogh), iirc it will again be 3 parts again and as you know - you never know what Rens brain is coming up with but it's gonna be awesome
"Is there any more like that?"... Oh boy, are you in for a beautiful journey. There is, and there isn't, and it's all so beautifully powerful and diverse. My personal recommendations would be Hunger, Money Game 3 and 'The Big Push' I Shot The Sherriff/Zion/HipHop live mashup, the version where he's wearing the red braces. .... and even then, you've only just scratched the surface of this man's talent. Thank you for such a beautiful and honest reaction. Subbed and looking forward to your next Ren reactions :)
Enjoyed watching with you. Think it's worth emphasising they are 3 'one continuous take' videos filmed late late late night in Brighton. Imagine living locally and hearing Ren screaming " these are my fucking streets and the call me fucking Screetch" 😉 thanks x
Today they are filming part 2 of Vincent's Tale! They have Part1 In the can. Money Game Trilogy is similar. MONEY GAME 1 is next then! BTW: Ren is 34 now. Will be 35 on March 29th . He wasn't well enough to perform like this till he was 27 after his stem cell transplant. The Tales were released ovet several years. Violet's Tale in 2019. He had a seroius relapse and spent 2 months bedridden again. Just returning to work now. The treatments in Canada for 18 months failed to get rid of the Lyme disease and co infection Bartonella. More intensive treatment was too brital on his body. Think he's going to try another stem cell treatment soon. Drs have said autoimmunity may be for life and he will not be able to tour.
I absolutely love hearing you breakdown Ren. He has so many influences and you have so much knowledge about hip hop especially that I always learn something.
Each of these chapters was done live in one-shot. Video was done by the genius Samuel Perry-Falvey who is the videographer on a number of Ren's videos. The Money Game series is great bardcore as well. You should check out The Big Push too, Ren's busking band. My favorite is their I Shot the Sheriff / Road to Zion / Hip Hip video (red suspenders version).
Ren is current working on his next trilogy based on Van Gogh, similarly in the lines of The Tales..his health has taken a turn as his symptoms have once again reared their collective ugly heads.. but never fear, our dear Boi Ren shall persevere 😊 Edit: As a former Daddy's Little Girl who misses her treasured champion every day, I thoroughly appreciate the way your eyes set aglow with love upon mentioning your daughter..this love is a gift she will treasure forever, and you're beautiful for being her #1 fan.❤
I knew you’d love this one! Now next time you hear Jenny’s tale, what 90s rap song does it resemble? It was 2 guys…. You know it, I know that much. Our rap knowledge picks up close to the same age I think 😉. I’d give you a clue, but I don’t think you need it…..one of my first favorites! Lol Reactions to this never gets old, it’s always a rollercoaster but one we’ve gotten on many times. I’ve never heard so many people all over the world end their video with “WTF?” It’s a heavy story but we still love watching the reactions to it! We get real reactions at the end because unless people cheat or they catch a few things that might tie them together, we usually get a pretty good reaction out you guys. You definitely didn’t disappoint ☺️. I thought you’d like that one because I know lyrics and story telling are your favorite part of songs so when I said to do this one, one I selfishly wanted your reaction to it lol, but also I knew you’d appreciate more than his guitar playing. He is a one of a kind LITERAL artist for our lifetime for sure, we only have a few and Ren is on that list for sure. Glad you loved it.
Another great reaction!! I love watcing reactors do this vid and when Violet comes up they be like "Who the fuck is Violet?".🤣 this tale is a Rollercoaster of emotions
❤❤❤ Bardcore ❤❤❤ Fyi Screech is only 14 not 40. Ren is genius in presenting important social commentary in an amazingly artistic and entertaining way. We are failing people who fall into Generational violence, vulnerable adults, and the children caught in the middle or left behind. ❤
Dude, I only discovered your channel yesterday, I have been going through your catalogue, but this popped up, so I had to watch! Great reaction as always! Here for your journey! Definitely need to get on Money Game Part 2 (Lyric video) and definitely part 3 that's another profound story and masterpiece! You just gotsta finish that series!
I agree with all the people who suggested the Money Game trilogy. For Money Game 2, be sure to pick the lyric video, not the live version. The live is only a portion of the song, but the lyric video is the whole thing.
Ren is the most unique musical artist ! He’s an absolute genius. He’s an extremely talented man. And his guitar talent is amazing. Gee…. Do you think I like him ? 😎 Great reaction!!!!
You are one of very few reactors with actual knowledge of hiphop and love for the craft, its what makes you stand out. really good stuff dude! This one has probably been suggested before but i haven't seen it yet, Norman Pain - Sonnet. its honestly one of the most underrated heavy hitters i know.
None of us saw that coming . Just when you think you’ve got him figured out Ren likes to throw a 180 into the works lol The guy is just incredible. Simple as that. I really enjoy your reactions brother. Keep them coming. 🍻🙂🇨🇦
Great reaction, really enjoyed it!! You mentioned the bard thing in the beginning, just to clear that up, this is NOT "Bardcore", despite what the Renegades say..... Bardcore (sometimes called "tavernwave") is a microgenre of music under the umbrella of the genre "fusion". The first known bardcore song, before it was a recognized genre, was by Algal the Bard, in 2017, a YT artist who uploaded a cover of SOD's "Toxicity", but done in a medieval fashion, with a lot of strings. By the time the pandemic hit, the song had gotten a few million views. At the start of the lockdowns other YT artist like Cornelius Link, who did a medieval cover of Tony Igy's "Astronomia", or Hidegard von Blingin's medieval cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", started popping up everywhere, with some of the original artist, like Lady Gaga, showing some love in the comments. Somewhere in 2020 the word "Bardcore", to describe these types of songs, was coined. A few of Ren's songs, mostly Jenny n Screech, was very much done in the style of an old time bard, Ren himself has said, during a livestream, he has no problem with the comparison relating to that video, but that he rejects the term "bardcore" to describe him or his music overall.
Glad you listened bro. The thing with Ren is theres an easter egg in every song. Everytime. It makes the rabbit hole nicer as you get them all 💙 its called bardcore because without a narrator mode, well, dayum. It would be too much... and you got the johnny cash ref. Kudos man... hardly anyone sees that 😄
Looking forward to you jumping down the rabbit hole. Subbed. Another thing about this is, when he called the lady and she said she was busy, she was busy with Patrick. Money Games 1-3. The second one is a lyric video that you want to watch.
Wow such a great reaction and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Ren journey. You could react to him doing the really old school throw back “What you want” it’s more of a fun vibe. Peace and Love from Australia mate
20:06 i love at the end of his rewind he puts wave like bend while slowing down. Reminded me kind of the tardis in Dr who. Ren is famous for his pop culture references. English staple. Maybe intentional
Yes! I love this! Illest of Our Time is my fave! I'll have to watch that too! He has a Welsh/Brighton accent. The Tale of Jenny and Screech is amazing too! His story telling and guitar playing. Ren picks his guitar for the most part, yes! I play a bit of acoustic so that's how I learned. Great Reaction! 🔥❤️
Awesome reaction! Thank you for supporting Ren! He often reminds me of Johnny Cash by the distinctive sometimes dissonant plucking- you have to be gifted to make it sound so good so consistently. Love the comparison!
Phenomenal reaction, not gonna lie, I wasn’t watching Ren at the moment where your green screen messed with it, I was watching your face to see if you were gonna catch it!
Yasssss! This was the FIRST reaction I did to Ren when I first found him! Illest of our time and genesis are still my favorites from him - but kujo beat down (because of the story behind it) was my favorite release from this year besides Halftime (Nas Remix)
Great reaction, loved it. This collection of tales are beautiful. But, way not pretty. Ren never hesitates to shine his light on ALL aspects of life. Even if it is ugly. He presents us with a palatable version. So, we WANT to pay attention. INCREDIBLE.
Jenny & Screech's tale was based on a newspaper story of an underage prostitute being murdered (by knife) and the 14 year old perpetrator being shot by the police on the next street. The police chief stated "so young, it's such a shame". Violet's Tale was written 2 years later.
In short, the American accent is popular for singing because of phonetics, pace, and air pressure in vocal chords. The neutral American accent is preferred over regional accents. American singers often adopt a neutral accent while singing, even if they have a distinct regional accent. According to linguist David Crystal, a song's melody cancels out speech intonations, and the music beat cancels out speech rhythm. Singers are then forced to stress syllables and elongate vowels based on the music. Singers with accents may sing without them naturally, which some may perceive as having an "American" accent. I hope this answers your question about accents. I really enjoyed your reaction!!
Subbed for more Ren. I don't think Ren likes to do things a second time (Ren doesn't need to), and the range of his art and songs is a testament to this.
Yes, it's a classical guitar. Has nylon strings that you have to tie at the bridge. You can get silk strings for a regular acustic guitar, but the high E & A strings are steel.
Good reaction just fyi in Jenny’s tale screech 14 yrs old not 40. I wasn’t sure when I first heard 14 and 40 sounded close when getting used to accent being in America plus I think this was my 3rd song I watched so was still new but now after so many songs I’m proud of myself picking up words with accents from his songs and also reactors from different countries It’s so fun much love happy new year ❤🎉
One thing I've seen a few reactors get wrong... because of Ren's accent, which is Screech's age. Ren says he was a youth of fourteen years old. But, it can sound like he's saying forty to some. Another great reaction! I thought for sure you watched these tales before. It's never too late! I enjoyed watching along with you.
Had to comment and show love. You got my attention when you mentioned Ronnie, I keep saying they are yin and yang. Two sides of the same coin. BTW extra Hello as I am a fellow Vegas native :) I'm near Sunset Park lol
I am going to explain why I am a Renegade It might differ from the hundreds of reasons of others and that is wonderful. Gene Simmons of Kiss while exclaiming that white, spoiled middle class kids were destroying rock and roll (as a middle class white kid who was a die-hard fan, I won't go into how furious this made me.) But then he posed a question: Where will the next Bob Dylan come from. Very few artists from the past have dared to tackle the social issues of our time. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan....and along came Ren. There is your answer, Gene. Ren not only tackles these issues but puts them right there in your face. Can't look away. Can't ignore. He's picked up the torch. And I will support him until the day I die (likely from my own Lyme Disease) because as Don McLean sang, it's a thorny crown. And we're here for the duration.❤
Thanks for reacting to the tales Jared 👍❤ Ren wrote the tales after reading an article about a 14 year old boy who stabbed a prostitute in an attempted robbery. The boy was shot by the police later that evening. "It's such a shame," were reportedly the words of a police officer at the scene. Ren wondered why such things happened. There is a great reaction video by Stuart J Randall to the Tales that deals with the topic of transgenerational violence. He is a psychotherapist himself and works with juvenile delinquents. He as well shed a light on why Screech is a victim of his biography as well. And how society fails to stop those cycles of violence. ua-cam.com/video/KAbS58TwEFU/v-deo.html Some genius details that are easily overseen/overheard that I like: - At the beginning of Screech's Tale, when Ren sings "He melted into the black night just like snow" Ren almost disappears in the darkness for a moment in the video as well. - At the end of Screech's Tale the camera image becomes blurry, as if you were seeing the street through Screech's eyes while he is lying on the ground. - When you look up the original lyrics for Violets Tale you'll find that it's not "Grew up with violet stars", it's actually "Grew up with violeNt starTs". So crazy. - You can find lots of locations (including those for the tales) in Brighton where Ren shot videos on a Google Maps project called "Ren's Brighton". Check out the Rencyclopedia to find it. - I read somewhere that Ren said that they had to stop one take (don't know of witch part) because someone shouted that they should shut the F up 😁.
Firstly, I smiled when you said that you’re not going to pause very much. Second, no reason to not be pausing. We all, well at least I and many others with me, are on reaction channels to watch/hear reactions. And you’re one of the best, so please keep pausing and reacting! It makes the rabbit hole nicer as you get them all 💙 its called bardcore because without a narrator mode, well, dayum. It would be too much... and you got the johnny cash ref. Kudos man... hardly anyone sees that 😄
He says echoes crime on London's Street
Screech was 14 years old
I have felt for a long time that REN and Ronnie are so similar in so many ways, both genius in their own right and in their own way. ☺️💜💜💜💜💜
Yes I believe you can compare REN with COREY TAYLOR 😅
I love how he double timed "the dis-tance" and " of the night" in the middle of back to back beautiful lines
Thank you for another great reaction!
Great reaction! Love Scarface🔥❤️✌️
Looking forward to you jumping down the rabbit hole. Subbed. Another thing about this is, when he called the lady and she said she was busy, she was busy with Patrick. Money Games 1-3. The second one is a lyric video that you want to watch.
Thank you 👊
He is so versatile. I enjoyed watching all of it.
Wow such a great reaction and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Ren journey.
You could react to him doing the really old school throw back “What you want” it’s more of a fun vibe.
Peace and Love from Australia mate
He did What you Want a year ago 😊
Money games 1,2 and 3!!! Straight 🔥
MG 2 must be the lyric video. The one YT called official is incomplete and was only a teaser.
He did MG1 a year ago. I’ve just asked him to do the other two as well 😊
20:06 i love at the end of his rewind he puts wave like bend while slowing down.
Reminded me kind of the tardis in Dr who. Ren is famous for his pop culture references. English staple. Maybe intentional
He's 14 not 40
and jennys not a whore!
The money Game series is anazing
He did MG1 a year ago. I’ve just asked him to do the other two as well 😊
@REN4eva Thank you friend I'll go back in his catalog and check it out!! ❤️
Killer reaction my man - thanks!
Remember how Jeff Healey held his guitar
Awesome reaction! Thank you for supporting Ren! He often reminds me of Johnny Cash by the distinctive sometimes dissonant plucking- you have to be gifted to make it sound so good so consistently. Love the comparison!
Love your reactions!!
You and Knox with these bars! I knew you would love the Brighton graffiti. Ronnie’s talents and videos are impressive but does he do one shots?
Lol I had a very similar reaction - crazy story!!! Great reaction homie
Told ya!!! Just Danm😂❤😂❤❤❤❤
Great reaction, loved it.
This collection of tales are beautiful. But, way not pretty.
Ren never hesitates to shine his light on ALL aspects of life.
Even if it is ugly.
He presents us with a palatable version.
So, we WANT to pay attention.
INCREDIBLE.
Agreed, but I still think he needs to slap a trigger warning on the video somewhere in the description at least.
Jenny & Screech's tale was based on a newspaper story of an underage prostitute being murdered (by knife) and the 14 year old perpetrator being shot by the police on the next street. The police chief stated "so young, it's such a shame". Violet's Tale was written 2 years later.
Thank you so much for the background info, I really appreciate it.
10:08 self taught on guitar thru watch YT videos mostly
Epic ❤
Great explanation, I was going to attempt to do something similar, but yours is spot on!!
Subbed for more Ren. I don't think Ren likes to do things a second time (Ren doesn't need to), and the range of his art and songs is a testament to this.
17:00 we got the "Who's Violet" :P
There is one kinda similar called Where did Things Go Wrong part 1 and 2 him and his friend Sam Tompkins
Great reaction as allways
Yes, it's a classical guitar. Has nylon strings that you have to tie at the bridge.
You can get silk strings for a regular acustic guitar, but the high E & A strings are steel.
Welcome to the Ren family ❤
Good reaction just fyi in Jenny’s tale screech 14 yrs old not 40. I wasn’t sure when I first heard 14 and 40 sounded close when getting used to accent being in America plus I think this was my 3rd song I watched so was still new but now after so many songs I’m proud of myself picking up words with accents from his songs and also reactors from different countries It’s so fun much love happy new year ❤🎉
AWWWWW YEAH!
❤ 🤯👍❤️
One thing I've seen a few reactors get wrong... because of Ren's accent, which is Screech's age. Ren says he was a youth of fourteen years old. But, it can sound like he's saying forty to some.
Another great reaction! I thought for sure you watched these tales before. It's never too late! I enjoyed watching along with you.
Had to comment and show love. You got my attention when you mentioned Ronnie, I keep saying they are yin and yang. Two sides of the same coin. BTW extra Hello as I am a fellow Vegas native :) I'm near Sunset Park lol
I am going to explain why I am a Renegade
It might differ from the hundreds of reasons of others and that is wonderful.
James was 14 and it’s an important aspect of the “tale” ❤
❤️
Straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 story telling.
Thanks for reacting to the tales Jared 👍❤
Ren wrote the tales after reading an article about a 14 year old boy who stabbed a prostitute in an attempted robbery.
And how society fails to stop those cycles of violence. ua-cam.com/video/KAbS58TwEFU/v-deo.html
Some genius details that are easily overseen/overheard that I like:
- At the beginning of Screech's Tale, when Ren sings "He melted into the black night just like snow" Ren almost disappears in the darkness for a moment in the video as well.
I feel like money game one and three, and bittersweet symphony live version our great storytelling ones
Firstly, I smiled when you said that you’re not going to pause very much. Second, no reason to not be pausing. We all, well at least I and many others with me, are on reaction channels to watch/hear reactions. And you’re one of the best, so please keep pausing and reacting!
Regarding the Money Game series, I know you did MG1 a year ago but didn't follow up with #2 and 3. Maybe it would be a good idea to do those as well?
And please! I'd love if you could make a separate play list for Ren reactions! Please!
Please?! Please?!?
Great reaction
Thank you 👊
You mentioned when singers seem to lose their accents. I find that odd too, but that's ANOTHER thing I love about Ren, his accent.
