My favorite interpretation of the Chant is from the Hangry Sister in Denerim, from Origins. 🤣 "....and the peas of the Maker will be her bacon and her shield...."
I feel so corny saying this, but when you read Exaltations with the various scenes stitched together, I got chills. Excellent editing, Caitie. And, as always, excellent lore sleuthing. 😉
So the Titans somehow fit into the maker religion? Maybe that explains the lyrium under the temple of sacred ashes and a Dead Leliana's resurrection as a lyrium ghost.
I’m not sure that Titans fit the Chantry. I mean I believe Kordillus was referring to Titans, but I think the Titans play an even bigger role in the whole picture. I believe that when/if Solas does break down the veil, all the remaining titans will wake up and try to reshape the world. (Spoilers!) The Guardian woke up to the Breach so imagine what would happen if the entire veil comes down.
I love this interconnectedness of all the lore that seems to be in the Chant of Light. Also I love how history is told in Dragon Age. It is never clear-cut established facts (which our world's history isn't either, but some fantasy series make it seem it is this way), it is always told through someone. So interesting to see the diverse factions and people who influenced how history is told in Thedas!
I assume that the Chant of Victoria talks about the inquisition and how it brought peace in a world gone mad, and how Victoria restored the chantry and the faith as a whole. and also, OMG I NEVER UNDERSTOOD EXALTATIONS UNTIL NOW!!! it literally changed all my perspective on DAI, HOW I DIDN'T KNOW THIS????!!!! great video btw :)
Yeah, people calling you Herald of Andraste makes a whole lot more sense when you realize you’re literally enacting a lot of the prophecies written in their religious text.

Hey, this might be a bit useless, but wasn’t there an avvar story about their god taking a mountain into the sky because people kept climbing to the top? It could be a sort of reference maybe?
Benediction in a liturgical sense means the good words one says about a person being made a saint or perhaps a dead person like in an obituary or less broadly a general blessing at the end of a sermon. From bene meaning good and diction relating to things said In the sense it’s being used here, it’s like phrases to remember and live by like the beatitudes in the bible (blessed are the meek etc) or hadiths (sayings of the prophet) in Islam.
I do wonder what the Imperium chant looks like in comparison to the South's version beyond the edits of "Magic exists to serve man..." and such. Additionally, if Exaltaions is good as most far off predictions go then I'm starting to become more curious about these gifts of foresight.
I demand a video on Verric! He has been in the game from the start (even though he was only in Origins in the Proving Grounds and had minimal dialogue). He is the one character that has proven the test of time.
"While it's obviously not a first hand account" ...unless Archon Hessarian was possessed by Dumat after Andraste died. If Dumat had a hand in it, then not only is it a first hand account, but calling it the Canticle of Silence makes a lot of sense. "It had too much propaganda" according to Orlesian propaganda, which also removed Shartan from the chant entirely when they started a war against the elves.
"For their dreams had been devoured by a demon who prowled the fade as a wolf hunts a herd of deer." Since you used a visual of Solas I'm assuming you caught that too. At first I just listened to the video, didn't see the visual, and thought it was weird you didn't seem to catch that.
Ngl, i randomly started thinking about how interesting dragon lore is (particularly the religions, idk why i find it so interesting but i really do) omw home from work and let me tell you, not dissapointed about where i landed 😁
I think we are about to have so questions answered about Andraste in the fourth game since we already have something in to the magisters and the elvhen gods, so let's see. Also, I'd like to know your opinion in the gauntlet. I was playing origns again the other day and when I did this quest I felt like knowing what we know the gauntlet's trials feel a lot like smoke and mirror, I don't even think the spirits that show up are the spirits of the people they represent.
They couldn't be in any case, cause not all are dead. City elf sees Shianni and dwarf commoner sees Leske - both are alive. I think it's more supposed to be a mirror to your soul rather than spirits of the dead
@@robin_silas oh I see, my bad! You're probably right. I assume they are essentially the same as the visions of your background. An in-universe explanation might be spirits taking taking their form based off of memories from the guardian
What if there really were multiple Shartans the same way there are multiple Red Jennies? In fact, the Red Jennies are quite similar to the Shartans (if we accept that it was a title and that multiple were active at the same time), so it's quite possible that the Red Jenny movement evolved out of the Shartan rebellions. Both would be titles for people that fight for the oppressed, and both would be spread across Thedas with different people having the same title in different cities.
I know one thing…Dragon Age 4 is going to blow all off our fucking minds if all of this is included. Lots of story lines have to he wrapped up. And the DLC content is going to basically be an epilogue and then no more Dragon Age.

I think I read somewhere in either the World of Thedas books, a codex in game, or some tweet or something, that the Chant of Light gets all wonky because there are many many authors all telling their stories and views while some give basically sermons. So you get a fair amount of restated stories that seem incorrect, conflict with one another, or are just so painfully repeated. But I can't provide a source so I may very well be wrong.
In the Christian Bible there is a part in forgiveness that specifically says “70x7” meaning how many times you should forgive, implying there should be no limit. Might not be relevant but thought it was worth mentioning. Just as in part of the chant you just read it mentioned the phrase and “raising” those.
I can't find it now but I swear in DA:O there's a codex entry saying that the chantry like... won't allow the full chant to be sung except in val royeaux on a special occasion or something?? I keep thinking about the avvar singing to summon their gods (which actually works)... Maybe the chantry doesn't want some randos bringing the maker himself back to Thedas at a time and place beyond their control...

hey Ghil do you know why if you play as a dwarf inquisitor and play the descent dlc when the titan was looking for a connection with it's children dwarves and struck shaper Valta with raw lyrium why did not do the same with a dwarf inquisitor, I always though that maybe the anchor acted as a barrier or jammer obscuring you from the titan or maybe it's just for plot continuity's sake but can there be more.
