Maurice bishop and thomas sankara both whom were revolutionary leaders ahead of their times were actually good friends and often shared ideas such as womens rights n grass roots participation in all aspects of society as well as pan africanism

I remember where I was that morning. I had just realized that I was pregnant. Standing right there in my mother’s kitchen. It was a sorrowful moment for me.
Leader of a revolution where all of two people died and even the secret police and the people that killed his dad weren't harmed when detained. A man who wanted nothing but to move forward and be happy. We miss you, Maurice. We love you. Thank you for inspiring us.

Maurice bishop was a brilliant orator who not made this electrifiying speech in the us in 1983 but also at the non align summit in new delhi 1981 n the common wealth summit in lusaka zambia 1979 which impressed kenneth kaunda he achieved respect for the grenada revolution worldwide and was one of our greatest pan africanist leaders

I agree entirely. Every revolutionary leader in Africa, the carribean and even east Europe had good ideas and successes. The USA as always had to ruin it because they are very narcissistic and only think of themselves. Specifically the rich elitists. This speech is very powerful and important to history and I apologize on behalf of all Americans and specifically American Comrades on the fact that my government did what they did.
It isn't right and I will let you know that I am going to soon be getting a book of Comrade Bishops speeches and hopefully a book of speeches of Agostinho Neto. These books plus every other book I can get of revolutionary leaders I will use to create something new that will help the entire world including Grenada.

As if all these national liberation movements had succeeded in the Caribean, Central and South America north and South Africa, South East Asia and the the Middle East, without imperial intervention the world would have come to a new renaissance creating wealthy prosperous independent nations, philosophy,arts,music,science,agriculture,technology would have flourished blooming into an era of collaboration and unity, humanity on common ground, respecting sovereingty over all things.
That is wishful thinking and a bit of daydreaming. While a few of these liberation movements might have brought prosperities to the people under their governance, many would not see such wealthy prosperities you believed inherent. The reason being, many of these same "liberators" themselves, while openly championed the cause of the poor, secretly siphoned off the wealth and resources of the nations they claim to have liberated. And if that wasn't bad enough, they stash the stolen wealth in foreign banks IN THE SAME COUNTRIES they blasted as imperialists and colonizers. History is rife with these facts. So do not be so quick to think all these "liberations" were actually freedom from exploitation; just a changing of the guards.

I love this great man . He is among the few great Carribean leaders, who really cared and gave all of himself for the revolution and the vision he had for his beloved country . Grenada should be very proud of this patriot and hero of the soil of Grenada. He was a prophet for the Carribean. The narrator incorrectly states that this speech takes place at Medgar Evers College. Maurice Bishop actually recognizes Hunter College in the unabridged version of his speech. Otherwise, this is a great history lesson for all Grenadians, Caribbean nationals, people of color, and oppressed peoples! We must share this piece of history with our youth and even adults who need more consciousness!

Durant mon séjour à St Georges je m'étais inquiété de la présence effective des religieuses américaines. Il me répondit qu' il ne représentait aucun danger pour le pays, plus lard l'impérialisme américain prenait prétexte de l'existence de leurs ressortissants pour intervenir dans l'île le lendemain du coup d'état. Un homme pragmatique, il défendait son appartenance au peuple noir. . A l'intérieur du pays il impulsait un processus révolutionnaire avec le new jewel movement. Je salue l'équipe Caeibbean insight tv d'avoir retracé le parcours d'un visionnaire, Maurice Bishop always.
