In 1985, Brian Patrick was not singing these lyrics, as shown in the video, it was all Shark. Brian joined the band in the 90's when Sharks aging voice was struggling to still sing the lyrics. Of course, the benefit was Shark could focus on the guitar. It is interesting to note that Brian had never been a singer in a band prior to Manilla Road, he was just one of Marks good friends that had listened to the albums a a whole lot. Mark had a very vivid imagination and a wealth of knowledge about mythology and fantasy literature. Beyond being a great musician, he was a great guy who never hesitated to show love to his friends and his fans and we all miss him. Manilla Road is an exit off of I-70 in eastern Colorado, just to let you know.
Doh! How could I miss that?! Great review! Such a shame for metalheads that your channel have not much followers... You deserve much more! I'm curious about what Manowar think about this band or what they did said in interviews. I'm sure they know about Manilla Road, no doubt. What about me, just one unknown man-metalhead - I like this band! P.S. Michael, cheers.
Explanation of the band name from Manilla Road official site: Ben Munkirs (first drummer) and I came up with the name Manilla Road while drinking one night at the kitchen table watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus. For some reason, to us, it meant the Road of Light. I personally think we were just drunk and could not come up with anything more creative at the time. But the name stuck and no matter how hard I tried to get away from the name or how many times I tried to change it the name stayed with the band.
Hard to choose only 3 songs but I recommend "Spirit of the dead" from Mystification, "Divine Victim" from The Deluge, and offcourse "Dreams of Eschaton" from Crystal Logic. I must mention also about Metal from Metal, Avatar (Mark of the Beast/Dreams of Eschaton), Road of Kings (Open The Gates), The Deluge (The Deluge), Mystification (Mystification), Helicon (Out from the abyss), The Books Of Skelos (The Courts of Chaos) and many more :). And if want to hear one of the best ballad and great vocal (Andrew Coss) and magnificent solos in history check "Lux Aeterna" from orginally Mark Shelton solo album but labeled under Manilla Road name.
You picked both my favorite and my least favorite Song from the album, Flaming Metal System being my favorite. Awesome. More people should definetily hear of this band
Haha well, hard to go wrong on this album - had a tough call between Riddle Master and the Ram but, still think the Riddle Master is epic...haven't heard anything like it before! -Michael
@ShadowSamba Personally I like it better than Feeling Free Again but I do agree the album is a one of a kind masterpiece. My favorite off the albums is either Flaming Metal Systems or Veils of Negative Existance.
Damn I remember hearing them back in 1998 just turned 18 and found the vinyl in my uncle's music room. One of my favourite bands, and one even my metal friends were giving me the "r u foking crazy?" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
If it wasn't for Marco's article, I probably would've never been into Manilla Road.
Sick band, sick video, sick review!
Sick in a positive way .
Love me some Manilla Road!!! "Authentic" is the perfect description!

@@MetalAcademix Yeah. It's still a good song though, the standard of the album is just so insanely high. Such an epic masterpiece of Heavy metal

The answer to the bands name, or sort of an answer, can be found from here: ua-cam.com/video/efFp_AkMle8/v-deo.html

A couple years late to this channel but we need some Crith ungol, The gates of slumber, Doomsword, Primordial, Satan, Pentagram etc.
Glad you like. Mark was a long time pal.
They were ( Are ) better then many big mainstream bands . Time is on Manila Road side - yes it is !🤘🤘🤘
The best band ever! \m/
And yes, Mark sings "storm" in the lyrics, but I always thought it was a word game, like maelstrom - metalstrom - metalstorm :D
You were confused because you didn't taste ormyliastorm ! :p
@@ΚυριάκοςΚαλεντερίδης triple O is the best 😁🤘🏻
Puzzle solved...thanks! 🤘 -Michael
Another interesting name would be 'Jinjer' Try their song Vortex, you WILL NOT be disappointed.
Shark reminds me of the mighty Dave Chandler of Saint Vitus
