  • In this episode of the Black Rifle Coffee Podcast, host Mike Glover sits down with retired Air Force Col. Kim Campbell, the only woman pilot in her squadron and the hero behind a legendary A-10 landing. During a mission over Baghdad 20 years ago, Kim’s aircraft was shot, and she managed to bring it back to the ground safely despite having lost power steering and other controls.
Mike chats with Kim about the harrowing experience, what was going through her mind in those moments, and how it felt to land the plane. Join us for an inspiring and gripping conversation about persistence and resilience on this episode of the Black Rifle Coffee Podcast.

As a knuckle dragging Jarhead, we always joked about the AF. Then in 2011 my Daughter Enlisted in the AF. She is still in and a Tech Sgt now. At one time she was one of only a few women who were a part of AF Spec Operations (FARP). I gained an entire new perspective on the Air Force. Recently I attended the Logistics Officer Association Symposium with her (she went on orders TAD/TDY) just for fun. I sat in working groups and different talks on the Space Force, attended key note speeches by several Gen Officers including Gen Mike Minihan. Talks on the future of the F-35 and the Nuclear Triad and Global Strike, Space Force Logistics, and what seemed to be the most important issue "Contested Logistics" concerning N. Korea, China, Ukraine, Taiwan, INDOPACOM..I was beyond impressed with the Enlisted and Officers I had the honor of meeting and socializing with that entire week. What the Air Force is doing is just fascinating. Yea they are not crazy like Marines and sometimes call each other by first names. But what they do...They do VERY well. From Airmen to Generals.... Col Campbell is legendary in the AF.

Thank you for labeling this video with simply her name. A lot of others wanna put “Female” to marginalize her in a way. I’m just glad you treat her with respect and exactly the same as a male. Like we would never put “Male” a-10 pilot. In a title. But some other liberals that interviewed her they just had to twist the knife to marginalize her. So they mention “female” in the title. Because they have to divide at every turn. I have 5 daughters that all race and they hate being labeled “female”. It makes them feel like they look down on them.

I guess I’m a misogynist at heart. With caveats. A friend, classmate & company mate of mine from Annapolis went on to serve the Corps at a higher level than I could have hoped to & became the first female squadron commander in Marine Corps aviation history. I laud her and her capability. That said, I still don’t believe women have the capacity for service in ground combat arms. Nor is there a need in that capacity.

    • @thesupportingcast6972

We can serve at a high capacity in a different, yet necessary way. I know ladies who have intelligence that is off the charts. I’m an analyst. We can do big things, and make big moves that doesn’t always mean boots on the ground. ❤ My way was linguistics. I speak 3 languages outside of English.
I know ladies who were nurses, and trust me they are Earth Angels 😇 with invisible wings. But I understand what you’re saying.
