I was surprised by that because in the F1 academy races it was the opposite, the odd numbered grid spots had much better starts than the even numbered ones
It just shows you how influential the media is Sky sports have constantly been on about landos starts this weekend and none of the influencers you see here have been that critical of his starts until now. We know lando doesn't go all out gives his tires extra life in the first stint so he can catch/pass in the second stint hes done it in both wins and in the times hes not won hes come very close too winning the same strategy. Lando doesn't need to lead lap 1 to win a race.

The reason it malfunctioned was because lando was so far ahead, he lapped bottas and gasly. So when they took the chequered flag after lando the board didn't account for the +1 lap
