After years of raising 5 kids starting at age 19, married at 17. Then the kids turned to adults but I always had kids moving in and out and a very controlling husband. There were always 2 or more kids at home. I finally had enough. I left my husband and the kids in 2015 and moved out into my own little apartment, got a cat that is my best friend, and I’m living my best life. I couldn’t be happier and I have not regrets.

To anyone living alone, single, or without many friends- try to enjoy this independent life while you can. What a blessing to have time to get to know yourself, and to only have to spend money on yourself. Take yourself on a picnic, on walks, buy yourself a little treat, go for a drive, paint (even if you're severely bad at it- it's about the ✨experience✨)
Loneliness is normal and seek companionship if it's what you want, but friends will come, a partner will come, don't wait to live life until you have someone to do it with, enjoy life by yourself first. Be your own best friend because you're the only one who will ALWAYS be with you! ❤️

Thank you so much for writing this. I moved to my husbands home country just before covid and i work from home so I never made any friends here. I never like to go out by myself but recently I’ve been thinking that something has to change. Your message gave me the inspiration to work outside the house today and plan something nice for me to do.

hey julie, i don't know if you'll ever see this within the sea of comments but i really wanted to tell you how much i appreciate you and your content. much like you, i live pretty much alone with only my dog. i don't see my parents and don't have any family. i also don't have any real life friends. most of my holidays are spent alone, and i really struggle with depression and anxiety and suicidal thoughts during these times. seeing you take care of yourself during these times really motivates me to do the same. it's really hard because it feels like people look down on people who are alone, by choice or not, but i really truly feel understood by you and i hope you keep going. take care of yourself today

No way !!!! My dog is a big guy… varies from 92 pounds to 98 pounds. He’s going onto 14 and eats human food every other day. He acts like a pup still !!
