I don't know how I got here but I'm glad I did and that band was amazing and of course the dancers we're great
VERY COOL!!!! Looks like so much fun.
This band is FANTASTIC!!
This is one of the coolest and funkiest contra dance videos I've seen. Great music and dancing. 👍🏼
Totally agree. Once had the honor of dancing to this live and it is cathartic still. 🌺
@@fionafairechild6272 it’s been 8 months since I’ve Contra danced with anyone other than my wife in our kitchen. I miss it so much.
They are jamming out. How fun!
My absolute favorite go to video to make me smile. I love contra and wish there was more music like this!!!! Love these guys! Do you ever come to Pacific Northwest?!
I didn't know contra dancing could be like this
Come to Asheville and dance with us! Check out AshevilleContra.com for the best weekend dance or come to the weekly dances.
Why I love Contradancing
Its really fun working out to it. What else to do during covid break from dancing. Sadly.
Love this video. Great dancing and music.
GREAT BEAR!!!!!
Me: There are no dips in Contra.
Suspenders man: 1:03
And men don't dancecwith men? 😉 The cool contra dancers definitely dip. With consent, of course. Contra dance weekends even offer workshops in safe dipping and other *modern* flourishes.
Such fun!!!!!!
Super Awesome!
Joy!
that is some sexy contra dancing!!!
When you find your doppelgänger in a random video on UA-cam. (Lady in the red and black dress)
(This dance sequence is "Simplicity Swing" by Becky Hill.)
I'm a recent Great Bear Trio fan (I particularly like The Gardener), but I can't identify this piece. Does anyone know what it's called?
anyone know the name of the song? I can't find it with soundhound.
the closest I have found is a song called the Randomanins by the great bear trio it's not an exact match but I think this is just a riff on it
I'm new to contra. What is the move being called at the 0:57 mark after they come out of the star thing? The couple on the right look like they are gypsying but other people are spinning around each other...
+gotenkes "Simplicity Swing", as written, has a dosado with the next neighbor there at the end of the B2. Since the next figure is a balance and swing with that same nighbor, the two dancers can improvise however they feel (in this case, a gypsy), as long as they stick together.
Contras are frameworks guiding set interaction. As long as you're dancing with everyone in the set, play around with it, have fun, and dance with whoever's coming at you, on their level.
+Chet Gray Thanks for the reply. I went to contra for the first time a few weeks ago and had a blast. Since I have no level, I just try to do whatever is called without tripping ;p I hope to get better in the future. My gf has been doing contra for 6 years so I have a bit to catch up to :)
+gotenkes , I should have written "on a level that's comfortable for both of you." Glad you're finding joy in contra, 'cause that's what it's all about! Hope we meet on he dance floor sometime.
Chet, do you know the name of the tune? I was there, I loved it, but I can't find it in any of Great Bear's recordings.
Looks like a lot of fun, did it a few times in Spokane, WA.😊 I had a blast!!!
