Congrats. I took mine back in 1985 in order to run charter boats out of Port Washington. Picked up some study material and spent about 3 weeks of studying and drove down to Toledo coast guard station to take the test. The good thing about taking the test at the coast guard station I received the results immediately. I kept the license 20 years and decided it was not work keeping anymore.
I did this back in 1993 at the Coast Guard station in Stuart Florida. We did not get a lil book like that. We got a card with our license number and info on it.

I have a unique question I haven't found an answer to... Sea Service. Our boat title is in my Wife's name and not mine. Do I still claim ownership or do I just have her sign off on my days?
That is a really good question! I would assume she would have to sign off on it just to make things clear to the CG. I'm sure you could tell them it's registered to your wife, however just to make things more simple and clear on their end - as well as not chance them kicking back your application because of it - I would have her sign off on the use.
