I have to agree; VoicePlay must surely be the most creative of the a capella groups out there. Their theatricality is something I really love. Their latest, soon to be released, video is something totally different and very interesting.
This is a song from the musical Fiddler On the Roof (another one of its most well-known songs is Sunrise, Sunset.) It was sung by the main protagonist, Tevye, a poor milkman in a fictional but reality-inspired Russian Jewish community around 1905. This version is very modernized, but the original is also fun and catchy.
Voiceplay is just amazing. This cover was arranged by Layne, the beatboxer. He always likes to stretch Geoff's voice beyond his comfort zone. Fun to watch! You haven't reacted to any of Geoff Castellucci's (the bass) solo work yet. He didn't start his solo channel until the pandemic hit. I'd start with High and Dry.
I forgot how good this is. Of course I remember it from Fiddler on the Roof, but I also just remembered it being covered by Gwen Stephani. That sassy "What?" after Ashley Diane's run comes after a similar "Please," from Geoff earlier 1:52. What does bug me is only now noticing they sometimes say "If I were," and other times "If I was," as if it makes no difference...because I am a grammar nerd.
Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. The more the merrier ❤️ please do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim & Voice Plays cover Halo, the theme song from the Halo video game. The composer of the music was overjoyed with their cover.
This song is from Fiddler on the Roof a musical that has been done on Broadway and all over. I LOVE the way they did it and Ashley's "What?" is my favorite part too.
IF you can stand your mind being BLOWN.... Valhalla Calling Me is out and it is FULL ON EPIC. ua-cam.com/video/mI8hPSSZSL4/v-deo.html Geoff is PERFECT as a Viking War Horn. Cesar surprises in an awesome way. Eli is, well Eli the ROCK GOD again. JNone is back and has tricks up his sleeve and Layne is laying down a sick beat that has everyone dancing in their seats. ENJOY!!
I love the sass in this song. The harmonies are fantastic and the smirk Layne gives when Geoff does his high bit is funny. Whenever he does the arranging, he Makes Geoff do something that makes him smirk. 😂. I also love it when Layne sings. His voice is so sweet. And Ashley is amazing. The creativity is what keeps me happy with vp. Ptx is just boring to watch. Home free is good but I can only take so much twang.

I love this group and their collaboration with Ashley Diane. Another from them that is incredible is We don’t Talk about Bruno!

I just read that Topol, who played Rev Tevye and sang this song on "Fiddler On The Roof" passed away this week. ... Guy

I think "If I Was" infers past tense, and "If I Were" infers past and present. I don't know; that's just my impression.
