I have three projects, two essays, a whole novel, and math homework all due sometime this week. and yet I'm laying on my bed watching some guy make a wooden spoon
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
I feel like I'm cheating when it's fast forward. I know why it's satisfying to watch a man who gets things done with his hands. I think it's because we admire his patients , attention / passion to detail. There's always someone better and when u watch him wip through his ideas seamlessly creating beautiful work using simple trade techniques , u can't help but feel his passion . He's making me want to get into playing with leather
I have a genuine appreciation for this individual’s craftsmanship. It’s bad ass wooden spoon! I also have a great appreciation for antique craftsmanship that produced these instruments without modern tools! Blows my mind in either regard.
It is often hard for lots of people to believe how that beautiful wooden spoon was hidden inside such old and weathered looking 4x4, but it is an example of how there is hidden beauty within all things, and if you give them the chance, you can coax them out from their exterior.
Really? I found it sort of relaxing but I also got so much anxiety from it because I can't keep up!!!! what's going on!!!! I don't know!!! I have no reason to be worried about me not keeping up because I don't do anything like this but heck!!!!! I can't keep up!!
I always thought making a wooden spoon was magic. 'Turns out it's just a matter of fine craftsman ship. Thank you for posting this - 'the editing dept. gets an A+
This is really fascinating but I can't be the only one who got absolutely terrified every time his bare hands go near those crazily dangerous looking machines
It would be more dangerous with the machines to wear gloves because the fabric can get caught and pull the blade into your hand. But I agree that with the other hand tools it would have been safest to wear protective gear.
Cheybaex For some reason it made me really uncomfortable. Sounded like mice and there was never a time to relax, all time lapse. I kept feeling like he was going to lose a finger at the start.
I have spent my last 45 nights on UA-cam watching several videos of people cutting wood with lots of different tools What am I doing with my life and why am I enjoying it so much?
It would be so cool if that spoon is sold as packaged inside that wooden block from which its made. Imagine when somebody opens a delivery and be like "i paid for a premium wooden spoon and those jerks expect me to make it myself? Oh nvm it opens, damn that's cool"
I'm a coast salish frist nation's from the northwest coast of Canada it's always awesome to see a different style of carving great work I haven't carved a spoon before but watching you as inspired me to make one now
That was artistry, and the original block of wood as the holder is brilliant. Is there a part two to this, such as staining or using oils to protect and bring out the beauty of the wood.
This was the first video back in 2017 that got me into wood working that first project that I designed in wood shop in 7th grade was a spoon and still have it
Why did I watch this? I'm not gonna make a wooden spoon any time soon. I don't even use wooden spoons. I don't know crap about woodworking and can't appreciate his artist ness and talent because of my lack of knowledge. Wtf
Alexandra Oliveira You were here because you watched a satisfying video that didn't surprisingly satisfy, unlike me, I'm dependently unsatisfactory. Look at above comments and tell me people can't be herded.

6 years ago I started making a wooden spoon, this video shows up to remind me its time to finish it... and by finishing it I mean draw the spoon with a black marker on a block of wood.
Simply excellent. One question: At the end you fashioned a tool from a blade to make very small cuts, why did you do that rather than sanding the surface to remove the wood ?
he basically made a super small cabinet scraper. i usually use them to clean up glue squeeze out between joints, but can be used to do what he did to basically "plane" the surface super finely
Indeed. He did what people used to do. He made a tool to complete a certain task. It's the same thinking that resulted in tools like violin planes and bowl shaves.
Also in that part of the spoon its where it transitions to end grain. Sand paper would kind of just fuzz it up. A scraper works better because it slices it off.
Does anyone ever click on something and then be like "Wait, why did I click on this?".
I had that moment but I still stayed. Oddly satisfying!

Why did I genuinely enjoy watching this spoon being born
I feel like I'm cheating when it's fast forward. I know why it's satisfying to watch a man who gets things done with his hands.
