You know a fruit is disgusting when people are eating the seeds instead of the actual fruit.
possible counter example: coffee berry is supposed to be delicious.
Cashews are seeds from a fruit that no one really eats unless you happen to live near where it grows because cashew fruit doesn't ship or store very well so that could be why people would opt to eat the seeds instead of the fruit though I've never tried a cashew fruit so I dont know if I would love them or hate them or think they are just ok.

The version I heard about the poop seed eating tribe is, when the years harvest is good, they feed on pitayas, but only when there is a famine, they are forced to dig their own feces pile and look for pitaya seeds as the only edible thing available.

Is noni edible? That's debatable. There are lots of things that won't kill you that most people don't consider edible.
Is edible. My grandmother had several trees growing in her backyard and she used to liked them 🤢 I in the other hand coul barely stand the smell, let alone try to eat it

I found out about a fruit in the same genus as noni that’s native to Florida, it’s called mouse’s pineapple (Morinda Royoc). If I happen to find them down here or even start growing them, I can send em your way

They are here in South Florida. I see them in southern Broward and Dade county all the time.

I remember a while back noni was being pushed as some kind of miracle fruit, and in fact the last time I was around Waikiki I was walking in the park there and aimost walked face-first into a noni fruit hanging off of ... a noni tree I guess. I'm glad I was not tempted to partake. Some fruits are just very, very, meh. An example is a little black berry called "popolo" that grows in Hawaii. We used to eat them when I was a kid, and they're oh so Meh. But I guess we were bored and we'd munch on the things.
I took a physiology class from a pharmaceutical researcher a little while after the MLM cult scene picked up on noni juice. One of them asked this guy, my professor, to analyze the juice for possibly active ingredients. He wrote back and said, "This is the *least* pharmaceutically active substance I have ever tested," which I'm guessing they didn't put in their brochure.
To put that in perspective, he used to do drug testing for the US Olympic team. So if that letter was the literal truth, noni juice has less medicinal potential than elite athlete piss.

My brother gave me a bottle of noni juice he bought in Rarotonga. I'd never heard of it and when I opened it I thought it was off so I poured it down the drain.
I used to use those as projectiles in my youth days specially the mature ones those where forbidden granades.

I was shocked when I found this plant on vacation last year with leaves that highly resembled GIANT coffee leaves as I grew some in the past. Looked it up which confirmed my suspicions, never would have guessed the two were related before seeing the tree!

Did you know it’s also known as the famine tree because after crop Phalia is a disaster it was eaten and it’s nutritious enough to sustain. I’ve eaten the root the leaves and the fruit and even fermented the fruit to get the juice and it’s strangely addictive and gets better in time.
I used to drink the "Noni Juice" Snapple (actually made from pear and strawberry). I had no idea the actual fruit was so nasty.

Is Noni part of the soursop/atemoya/sugar genus? It looks similar when you cut it open.
I thought so too but apparently noni is in the genus Morinda whereas soursop, sugar apples, and atemoya are in the genus Annona.

We had a Noni tree in our back yard in Mexico. Definitely the worst tasting thing I have ever tried. Its apparently good for you. And some people use it in smoothies? I'm not quite sure how this is is even palatable in any format.

You have a fermented old fruit. Fresh ripe noni is harder than an apple and tastes like sweet squash and yummy in stir fry and nice when boiled in soup. The leaves make a lovely tea.
That was funny and stylised, how cool. I have to say, hmm pungent cheese, that could work surely :DD The pungency is repulsive, I get that completely, but surely this repulsive pungency has something good. Stinking out a house with a decomposed seed-filled fowl shaped fruit is gross though. It's good you use dragonfruit poop biscuits as an analogy that is really really freaky (have you ever tried Kopi Luwak) - I wonder if you can bake down the Noni fruit to a type of dried substance and you can use it as a cheese element, oneway perhaps I will try the noni fruit and see how horrendous it is, I am interested :DD

We have those in Jamaica but we do not eat them we use them for medicine it's good for the immune system
So, you've tasted the best and the worst fruits, but what about the most disappointing fruit? The one that looked so good, and had so much potential, but just fell flat. May I suggest the Passiflora caerulea or Blecrown passionflower fruit? Inviting soft orange skin that easy breaks open to reveal shiny vibrantly red flesh, but with NO flavor whatsoever. Actually quite astonishing!

The oil is rich in antioxidants and the leaves cure diabetes. It’s rich in selenium as well. You can find this is in Guyana and I’ve found them in Aguadilla Puerto Rico

Try Bitter Kola - Garcinia Kola -- it's bitter as the name suggests but the taste lingers for about an hour or two. Something like how the heat from peppers linger but this is a bitter sensation... and you can't really drink too much water because the water ends up tasting bitter...
but it's good for you :)
