- Destiny 2 has revealed Season of the Wish after a puzzle in the game yesterday. It looks cool, but cool enough to be a 6-7 month season after a Final Shape delay?

I mean, if you only want this specific story reveal, sure. But the story this season over the weeks was really cool - if you waited till week 10 to do all the main story stuff, it would take forever

The next season is probably just going to be "feed the worm each week so that you can wish your way into the Traveler" or some bullshit. That's what they're probably going to blow their Ahamkara/Last Wish load on. Getting in the door. It has never been more clear that this was a filler year meant to keep getting money while they work on Marathon.
That’s what I’ve been doing each season and it actually feels more like a mini DLC from back in the day. Which wasn’t enough content then, but, it wasn’t also like, 6 months. Well I guess right now it is.
I liked how the reveal of the next season came from the last mission/activity, rather than announcing on the same day it releases like they have been doing which wasn't making sense.
Good thing they learned their lesson on the last one.
They're only doing because they completely broke player trust and everything is going to shit at Bungie right now.

One good thing with season of arrivals was all of the Raids were farmable so gave me time to go through them all for the first time and get all the exotics.

Audio is good Paul. You don’t need a pre-amp for the Shure if you have a decent interface/mixer. Those usually have decent stock pres built in. Folks who actually need a pre amp for the Shure mic are those who use GoXlRs or rode caster style mixers. Yours sounds like it’s got enough power.
I use a focusrite Scarlett interface and a Shure Sm7b to record rock music and have had zero need for a pre amp.
It’s specifically an SM7B problem. I think Paul has an MV7 not an SM7B. The usual solution is a Cloud Lifter, which is like a clean preamp boost. It really helps because most Audio Interfaces preamps aren’t that good if at all. Again it looks like Tassi has an MV7 so it’s not an issue.
I swear by Focusrite interfaces. I have a Scarlett Solo gen 2 that I bought in a kit during early 2020 and it hasn't let me down in 3 years of constant use. Its one of the best purchasing decisions I've made.
I feel the key to getting into the traveler is going to be....the seasonal artifact,
do an opening story mission, get artifact, walk through portal
The open exploration activity of Lost was definitely one of the better seasonal activities - I would like to see that again without a 3 or 6 man matchmade - just really hone down on an area we can explore and discover secrets and loot in. That’s ALWAYS what I have wanted out of this game.

Really cool that the 15th wish is finally real. Next we're gonna discover that there is, in fact, another chest in D1 Vault of Glass
Re. when they came up with the idea that the 15th wish would be how we get through the portal, I think it's always useful to have an unfinished, secret maguffin in your back pocket to allow you to solve a future problem, even if you don't know what the future problem is because you haven't fleshed out the storyline along the way yet. But agree, it's cool to reveal the next season ingame in this way, and I enjoyed the challenge of solving the puzzle!
Problem is, it comes across like that. Nobody thinks Bungie are narrative geniuses. Just mcguffins, cliffhangers, and constant lazy storytelling
If anyone has ever run a DND campaign before, this is an absolute requirement and I honestly give the writing staff at Bungie a pass here for doing it in this way.
When you’re writing out an ever changing world with so much background lore and backstory, you need to give yourself a Maguffin or two in order to progress the plot at certain points to give players agency in their own story. While Destiny does not operate exactly like a DND campaign in the traditional sense, they do have to build their story arc out of a generalized sense of player engagement and sentiment from afar rather than across the table. So, while the plot points have to be put out in advance, they can’t be done so far out that if they need a boost then they can’t change it (this is reinforced by the known dev cycle for the game).
Also, for once, we actually have an escalating set of stakes and threats going from season to season to give agency to just how important the final shape should be (starting with Shadow Legion at home and dealing with what the stakes of losing our own is like, then moving to Titan to whittle down Xivu’s forces/getting backstory on the Witness, then we take the punch to remove her throne world by siding with Savathun, and now that gives space for our characters to try to open the Traveler with a freaking Ahamkara). While at the time it seemed miscellaneous, these arcs actually makes sense from a narrative standpoint. If the seasonal structure wasn't in place and we could just play through the campaign like we would for an expansion, i feel like there would be less criticism of how the story unfolds.

Why would anyone “give Bungie a pass” for macguffins.
Macguffins are the definition of lazy and untalented writing.
Excusing them because they have a big convoluted story (or something like that) actually makes it sound worse.
The saying is something along the lines a smart man can explain things to someone in very few easy to follow words. Someone who isn’t smart says things in many large words to make themselves sound smart.
I could see thm doing a thing where the Curse is ended in a cutscene but then in gameplay is still carries the curse, kind of like how in zelda after you kill gannondorf, the game doesn't get rid of the gloom so it can continue
Don’t worry they will vault the dreaming city forever so they don’t have to worry about it.
Ending the curse puts the Dreaming city into the DCV
I'd like it if they split the difference on the delay - extended season of the Witch + have a late(r) start on season 23, which is still extended. OR if they made it during the delay we could complete all previous season passes while we wait. (basically, all this to say I haven't finished my season 22 ranks and want to make that up later 😅)
6:09 This was definitely a recent decision. I went back to the witch queen campaign looking for the patterns in savathun's wings, and - maybe I'm just stupid - I didn't find anything in the previous cutscenes.
That's pretty sad then. Like, it would've been mad scientist genius levels of seed planting if that had been there...other games have absolutely planted the most minuscule of seeds, that ended up growing into whole narrative lines...but to just throw it in here last minute, that's a shame.
@@RedShadowOfSaturnmost games link it to how they first made it but usually because of an interesting fan theory or a later idea. Usually isnt planted later because its hard to account for everything in a live service story.
@@jacklancaster3531 Yes, fan theories and ideas can be incorporated in, of course, but Destiny's story, for nearly 10 years, has struggled with seeming purposeful. This just drives that home further that Bungie is writing things as they go, and not really paying enough attention to things to reference later.
Arrivals also had the farming for raids that were going into the DCV. I think that alone helped carry the back half of that season.
Plus, we got Guillotine and FILO, among other great weapons. The seasonal weapons lately have not scratched that itch, and it’s depressing.
The 15th wish seems big and important enough to warrant being a free permanent quest. And yet, they're piggybacking it into a season that's likely to be removed.
Nice little microcosm for the franchise there. Gigantic story implications...temporary impact.
Yeah I agree the 15th Last Wish is time gated, but It'll be a Cutscene we're not doing it physically.... I could be wrong.
I hope they refresh GOS and VOG with craftable weapons, that will keep people busy for awhile, they could also refresh some/every dungeon with craftable weapons too
Almost every season since Chosen/Splicer, I've noticed a trend of our Guardians allying ourselves with rogue sects of enemy factions. Having an Ahamkara on our side would be awesome. Because ultimately I feel like this is leading us to an "endgame moment" in Lightfall, hopefully in a cutscene or better yet mission, where we storm a battlefield alongside our allies who used to be enemies. All to stop the Witness.
Would be the perfect season to get wish ender and 1k voices catalysts ...
I legit did one Imbaru engine thing and never did the rest. This feels very much like the lore pages from last season. Cool for people who like it but these puzzles just miss me and it seems most of people in my clan.
Re preamplifier, just get a Behringer UMC22, super easy to use and stands up to equipment 4x the price and has all the same features youd expect (boost, pad, gain, direct monitoring etc)
Imagine if this story/puzzle moment had released the day after the layoffs. I feel the conversation on this would’ve been much more different.
But even still, a week after all that went down, it still feels off to be excited and see the community have a moment that has been wanted for a bit now, which was more puzzles.
Maybe the thing they'll drop is Wrath of the Machine in between? What's his face said "They aren't ready to talk about raids" concerning the "potential" raid during the episodes. Maybe tie it off w/ an age of triumph with it's release? If they are working on Wrath, timing would work out, they put a few more hands on deck for the raid to get it out a few months early and people will have a short reprieve.
Wasn't the flavor text for the 15th wish "This one you will cherish"? If they had this planned back then then I think it would make sense that the last wish brings back Cayde and is the explanation for why he was in that final shape trailer.
Cold take
the insides of the traveler are just manifestations of our guardian's memory, mixed with the twisted and wicked darkness influence. They are just semi-real. That's why Cayde-6 had no ghost flying next to him while Ikoras' was in fact there (because she is not a memory). The Cayde-6 we saw in the trailer obviousl can't leave the Traveler.
If you think Bungie had a plan all the way back then you don't know Bungie lol they're flying by the seat of their pants
Do. Not. Bring. Back. Cayde. There is no reason to. This is why we never get good writing and zero character development. His reckless behavior caught up with him. That was his whole character. Bungie could never stop writing him as a running joke. What we can do is respect his memories and his more serious lore. But Bungie won't do that either. It might be in a hidden lore card no one will read or find.
When a character is so irritating that when they write the character off, your first feeling is "oh god it finally stopped"
Instead of a more serious feeling that, "oh damn, we just lost a decent funny guy"
If anyone should come back it's Holliday because Bungie did NOTHING WITH HER CHARACTER. She could have been a ship engineer, a sparrow engineer. You know, INTERACTIVE CONTENT. But no, Bungie reserved all of that for impossible content, and Eververse.

So, your mic, a shure SM-7B is a fantastic mic that sits right up there with an RE20 which is the next best thing. Your SM7B is a dynamic mic AND Active mic; meaning it would sound a lot more polished if you provide an amplifier/sound card/interface that can provide Phantom power (48v power supply from the mic input you plug the mic cable into) honestly, it doesn’t matter if you get an phantom power source. Your voice sound perfect considering what the end product sounds like when we watch your vid. I say this from the perspective on an audio engineer 👍
I wonder if we will use both the normal ahamkara and taken ahamkara to open the portal (using both light and dark)

Amplifiers are really easy. Mic plugs into amp, amp plugs into computer. Adjust the knob until everything sounds okay :D

Yes, it if fucked for newcomers.
At the same time though, there isn't enough marketing or hype in the world to make a last minute 6-7 month season appealing to players who are already tired of being fed the same-same thing every season. Season of the Wish could be great and I don't think it makes a dent in the issues they are facing at large. I don't even know that Final Shape being great could fix where they are now. They've spent years milking their player base for all they are worth only to remove content and make huge mistakes both in content releases and story beats. I'll be back for Final Shape but I don't know how much I play going into the future. Its too many times now of huge promises and massive under-delivery.
I am not even buying TFS. Firing Salvatory was the last straw.

You sound fine you do not need a cloud lifter but yes closer does sound better. If you have a shure sm7b you likely needed a preamp booster (cloud lifter as an example) but if you got the shure sm7db (the newer model) it comes with pre-built in boost. Alternatively it depends on the model you are using of Shure mic if you need a preamp booster or not.

Mara in season of the lost did have a taken egg sitting in a room along with Rivens heart. We don’t really know what happened with the egg or the heart and now we have this normal egg so hopefully we get answers for those things
If bungie gave us some sort of survival mode with the gimmicks of dares or something of the sort, Im pretty sure it will add to the player engagement for the pve community, as for the pvp community just making new maps and worthwhile loot will be enough to keep people interested, and for the people that enjoy both they can make gambit interesting again by adding maps, worthwhile loot and reworking the ruleset so that it's closer to the gambit prime ruleset but fixed in the areas that broke it in the first place
I only imagine the end of the last wish ending with you taking everything back to destiny ones tower and you warn the tower of all the things that happen and after the cutscene, you're back at the old destiny 1 tower area and you see other people
If they take all the enemies out of the Dreaming City, out guardians can move there and have a space to put our stuff.
If all they did was increase the pinnacle cap by 50 points during this next season, that would be enough to keep me grinding and coming back for ritual modes. I have no reason to do nightfalls, iron banner etc because pinnacles mean nothing now as everything is 1810.

Quick tip from a sound student, a good way to measure the best distance between your mic and your face is to make the "call me" gesture (🤙) with your pinkie touching the mic and your thumb touching your upper lip.
Obviously not a hard and fast rule, but I find it helps give me a general idea of how close I should be to my mic when recording voice work.
I assume that your current mic plugs directly into your PC via USB cable which means that you shouldn't need an amplifier. Having an amplifier basically allows you to change the volume before the sound signal goes into the PC. It gives you more control, but in my opinion your sound quality is fine and wouldn't really be affected by an amplifier.

I guess Bungie not removing Last Wish from the game finally paid off
They could bring back updated sparrow racing mid way through the next season.
They could try to do little events throughout the season, like maybe a weekend where all raids are farmable or a week where all strikes are made heroic with exotic drops.
Just some ideas but they could definitely keep people engaged with just a little effort.
I’d like to see what the player engagement numbers are for these activities a few weeks after the season is released…I suspect it’s going to be abysmal .
For the Witch activities? After Wish releases? Yeah old seasonal engagement is always poor because new people can't GET that without Deluxe anymore, and more up to date players will have moved on to grinding new shit.
@@skeletor8951honestly I think that's the worst part of the seasonal model. At the end of witch queen I really really wanted to play psiops battlegrounds but I just couldn't. Which is honestly a real shame that I can't.
@@skeletor8951 I have the deluxe last two releases at least and I maybe engage with the seasonal activity a few times first week and that’s it. I don’t really care to experience new cut scenes etc through replaying the same content. Maybe if you caught me a few years ago during season of the drifter I’d be up for this type of stuff but now I see it as pointless.

What if they slow the pacing of next season to fill the void?? Story content every other week instead of every week, extra iron banner weeks, bonus crafting/rep weeks, etc.
We’ve already had the trailer for next DLC, and it’s already shown the ship flying in so I don’t think we’ll be flying in on a dragon
If Final Shape is next, then they could wake the Dreaming City at the end of the season and have a new Dreaming City with TFS.

I find it funny reading comments, people saying they haven't played since who knows when, yet, here they are reading, watching everything Destiny, unwilling to admit, that they are waiting and hoping for the next chapter, Destiny is the game we all love and if the makers can get the content right, we'll all be there grinding away, it is what it is.
They can either suck it up and admit they fucked up and give the little dlc in the next season out for free or they can cause the rest of the community to leave by charging for it. Corporate greed already got ‘em once so I think I know where they are headed

A while back, I would have been excited. I'm just so jaded on Bungie that I don't even care about the 15th wish anymore.
puzzle was cool, but there really wasn't much to it. imo it's a great balance of looking super complicated but actually being kind of simple to solve.
realistically, if you just gathered all the data, and saw the "Truth" and "2x Lies", the answer sorts itself out. granted, you had to remember that there were statues in the other rooms, but that's not a huge ask, especially after you backtrack to find the flame.
as for the story beat of Wishing to enter the portal, it was pretty obvious, but it's cool as hell so who really cares? though I originally thought it was going to be mara's egg that we somehow uncorrupt.
if they give us patterns at the beginning of the season for Garden of Salvation then in February they could update Vog so we still have stuff to do during the 2nd half of the season

It's sad because I actually started playing Destiny in Arrivals and back then there was SO MUCH FREE CONTENT to enjoy that it's what I considered Destiny's peak. Now all that content is gone, so even new players won't be able to get into Destiny during the off-season the same way I did.
It sucks that all this drama about the future of Destiny/Bungie happened now because the Ahamkara are my favorite part of Destiny lore

Do you use a GoXLR for your input? If so an amplifier is not necessary as you already have a preamp built in. Regardless, I think the mic sounds fine as is.
A player market that trades on platinum would fix the problem.
$5 says the wish will not be a thing to use at the wisj wall in game and instead will be limited to a cutscene or off screen thing. I feel bad for anyone who has been any amount of time in the last like 5 yrs searching for the 15th wish.
Well if they can make the next season really good! And the idea seems cool to me. Then that would boost their sales for the final shape. So now what is Bungie going to do. Focus on the final shape, or try and bump up next season to boost sales! I really loved the idea of space pirates, and was sooo let down by that season. Bungie comes up with some really nice ideas and then some how manages to under deliver. Lets hope that next season is good because what is already planned and that final shape a historic in a good way!

I dont understand why they dont just release a little pack in feb that includes some old content like black armory that is optional to download. This would greatly increase player engagement since a lot of people miss old content.
Thinks take development time, it's too late now. Bungie have said the 30th anniversary pack took 8 months to develop.
@@Frampletromwibbler 30th anniversary pack was from scratch. recycling old content into a big bundle wouldnt take nearly as much development time as creating an entirely new one

I feel like after Lightfall reception , someone panicked and said let’s go back and take our most successful content and make seasons out of it. Anything that was a mystery let’s give the players the answer or make one up to keep them happy. Let’s see if it works .
