think a subtle reference is that Harden is weirding a rivers of blood katana from Elden Ring which has a special attack that slices twice from long range in the air and inflicts bleed which is exactly what Harden is doing to Brown as evidenced by the bleeding cut on Brown after the attack. The range and two attacks is a reference to Harden’s double step back. Additionally, it was considered an incredibly cheesy and broken weapon in PvP until it was nerfed to the ground recently which also has very interesting similarities to Harden and foul-baiting. They probably didn’t go this far but katanas in Elden Ring also also are associated with the samurai ‘traveller from the land of the reeds’. Maybe I should just start taking my meds though. Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.
1:12 This was also a cross-reference of Kobe not passing the Torch on Game of Zones, and (bit of a reach) in YuGiOh Duel Links', the Kaiba Corp Tournament. Personally still prefer The Portal, though.
Yeah, first episodes/pilots can be a bit rough. I remember when Gridiron Heights was kinda jarring in the beginning especially when GoZ was the main series
The sign says Kanpai which is Japanese for cheers. Cheers is a show based in Boston.
Thank you for the good catch 🔎
You’re the real mvp
I grew up on that show and Frasier. Nice.

The Paul Pierce wheelchair sign is classic.

The sign itself looks like the Cheers sign
The word on the sign was cheers in Japanese. Yes, it's designed like the show sign it was casted in Boston

The cobble street in the garden matches Boston’s court.
