Wow, what a nice summer stroll showing the contrast of crowded spots both touristic and local as well as the streets with almost no people. The restaurant with a yummy food and nice view in the popular place but not crowded was joy to watch you eat after starving for so long. In the end your playfulness while showing the future give away toy really made my day. By the way your summer hairstyle is charming and totally in place for the long hot and humid summer. I think quite a few of those cheap toys are international. I know I’ve seen the frog one and the “twirly” one in the US all my life. And the one that you blow into is a regular celebration toy that often makes a kazoo-type sound.

Thanks for this! When I visited Tokyo I walked around Asakusa on the day of that festival but didn’t find it! We did walk around the neighbourhood and saw locals taking festival stuff (like the stuff for a parade) out of their garage - it was neat to see! We couldn’t find much info about the matsuri in English, so we didn’t figure out the location and time back then. I think that we went through quite a few of the places that you showed, as we walked from Akihabara to Asakusa, went by a few very quiet arcades as well.
Also, we had that same toy in Brazil! It came with a lollipop.
Rion, I regret that I didn’t see you here but next time I will find you again. Hehehe. I went there June 1-10. The weather is still nice with a few rainy days.
thank you for this video Rion! I love watching your updates on current situations at touristy sites and also the local laneways that you were showing in this video😍. It really shows how different it is at the matsuri with more locals in the laneways where no tourists know about, although they are looking kinda "nearby but it certainly looks like a really large area between different stations🥲. From my personal traveling experience, I know I may walk in circles though, even when I'm am at a more touristy place. 😂
And oh yes, your meals always make me drooling here... even your recommendation and sharing of your favorite ice cream... love that vanilla with chocolate in that wafer. They look good to beat the hot weather or after a day out. I hope to try them soon 😋.

Yeah Rion-san visited my favourite restaurant in Akihabara 😊 I would always eat at Tonkatsu Chazuke before I got diagnosed with celiac disease.

Lots of new meccha oishiis introduced today-ice cream monaka (but my heart still belongs to the Black Thunder ice cream popsicle found in 7-11 😋), BBQ bamboo (Oh! So that’s what the biscuit “Takenoko no Sato” is inspired by), and tonkatsu chazuke (wonder if I could make it at home 🍵). The passing train behind you makes your outro fun to watch, but I could watch you play with that toy forever 😂 (You should write the date on it like the cup noodle 😆)

In the US, we have those toys. I played with those kind of toys in the mid to late 80s as a kid.
Hi Rion, it seems like you're not a morning person because I notice a lot of your videos start in the afternoon. 😂 I feel like if you go to these places in the morning like 8 or 9AM it wouldn't be so crowded. Going early anywhere in popular is what I like to do.
I remembered when i visited akihabara first time in 2017, it was waaaaaay less crowded than now... so much more space to walk and more arcades around too, now its becoming more crowded and hopefully it wont be as crazy as shinjuku or shibuya since i dont really like to stay in that area cuz of the crowd >.

Let‘s face it, Rion: The travel situation won‘t change anytime soon. It‘s nice that you do these updates, but overtourism here in Japan is real at the moment and it won‘t stop anytime soon unless the government decides to do something about it. Personally, I try to avoid certain hot spots such as 渋谷 or アメ横 as much as possible, unless I really have to go there or to show friends around like I did two days ago. That being said, it is not really surprising that there are so many people traveling here now after the end of the pandemic. And let‘s be honest: UA-camrs like you have certainly also inspired many people during Covid to wanting to travel here. You and other UA-camrs have quite some reach (just think about your first videos and how far you have come since) and we all know that social media can have a strong influence on many people. At least you aren‘t one of the UA-camrs to complain about the situation now. I am sure you are humble enough to know that it is all connected. You, the audience and subscribers, Covid, the weak Yen and of course, the country and its interesting culture itself, which so many people are curious about. 😊

Asakusa so crowed so overrated rated especially the street food.
The worst are the tourist that are cheap. It's not mandatory to buy something & help commerce but you got this type of tourist who feed from 7/11 the whole trip. If you're gonna be miserable the whole stay just don't go.
