Imagine walking into a guitar store about 1981. You see some blonde long-haired quiet kid. He’s just playing away with some clean guitar that looks like it’s from the future. You think nothing of it, and go about your business. Then, about 10 or 11 years later, you see him again, this time on TV with three other guys that he’s in a band with. They just came back from playing a concert in Moscow that over 1.6 million people went to. They’ve also got an album coming out that will stand as one of the best-selling metal albums of all time. @Forresr Perkins Heavy Metal is a genre with countless different sounds and styles. You can still have a pretty diverse catalogue even if you only wrote Metal riffs. Besides, Hetfield’s written plenty of clean, acoustic, hard rock, and even blues style chord progressions. He’s even written leads before. Point is, you could definitely argue he’s diverse.
Hopefully he'll use it in The Unforgiven 4, although such a song would have to be on their final studio album so they could play with the idea of the band being unforgiven for disbanding. The riff at 2:35 would be a great verse riff for the song! I wouldn't be surprised at all if we saw that riff pairing in a future album.
