- James Hetfield at Guitar Center in San Francisco, but the music that he makes during this interview is what kept all the fans coming to see the video over and over so i uploaded the musical part first and then put together 2 similar riffs to end this edited version of the vid.
This dude plays Metallica songs quite well.
He should start a band.

You think nothing of it, and go about your business. Then, about 10 or 11 years later, you see him again, this time on TV with three other guys that he’s in a band with. They just came back from playing a concert in Moscow that over 1.6 million people went to. They’ve also got an album coming out that will stand as one of the best-selling metal albums of all time. Hopefully he'll use it in The Unforgiven 4, although such a song would have to be on their final studio album so they could play with the idea of the band being unforgiven for disbanding.
The riff at 2:35 would be a great verse riff for the song!
I wouldn't be surprised at all if we saw that riff pairing in a future album.
1:30 is fucking beautiful. Hetfield is as much a riff machine as someone like Iommi. Not only does he have endless ideas, his diversity is unmatched

15 seconds of mindless shredding sucks, indeed. Whereas great rhythm is indeed captivating. Now, tasteful shredding is a different story. But it's hard to come by.
Love how James still smiles when he plays 'battery'. Beast of a track and it is satisfying to play, being the writer of it as well probably feels even more badass

Oh dear Lord that playful riff needs to be in a song, that can't be a throwaway riff, what an embodiment of the hetfield sound, the clean one is simply mesmerising, this sound is the essence of metallica, this type of riff and i have seldom heard anything remotely like it since and justice for all

The Unforgiven 4 is due next album: 2:53 in the intro/choruses, 2:35 in the verses.

I think people forget how much of a good rhythm player James is. Criminally underrated.
Is he? I don’t think so. In fact, I think he gets recognised for what he is; one of the greatest rhythm players of his generation. No one (sane) would say “James H. is only known for soloing”.

I don't understand and will Never understand why videos of musicians have 20 different camera angles (almost all the camera angles are fucking terrible) and they change every 3 seconds. It's been like this since Elvis. These "fancy" camera people are the plague that just won't go away. This video (and most band videos) should be a single camera on a tripod facing the musician.

What I learn from this video is that you don't need to blend a Mark IIC+ and a Diezel Vh4 to sound like James Hetfield. He's playing a Dual Rectifier on a 4x12 Mesa and it's sound so damn right. To sound like JH you need the fingers of JH...
