I’m excited to see a newbie doing a library haul! Very refreshing. I haven’t read any Cormac McCarthy but I have a friend who obsessed and collects all of his books. Which of his books would you recommend starting with?
Well, honestly the only ones I really enjoyed were The Road, No Country for Old Men and now his new ones. I was introduced to him in a lit course where we read Blood Meridian. I didn't think much of it at the time so I tried All the Pretty Horse and found it kind of meh. The Road, however, really pulled me in because his exact and sparse prose. I know some people are really into McCarthy, but I can understand why he's not for everyone. The Passenger just really spoke to me.
@@autumnrose_noseinabook Great! Just be prepared for a very bleak story. It sits on a foundation of hope, but it's harsh, too. Remember, it was an Oprah book club pick 🤣! The movie is a good representation though not as true as No Country for Old Men. It should have been shot in black and white.
Hope you'll enjoy A Psalm for the Wild-Built & Razorblade Tears!
I think I will. I really like Becky Chambers, and I trust your taste in books even though you don't like The Shining ☺

@@thetheatrezoo3603 I’ll add The Road to my wish list. I have seen it often at thrift stores so next time I see a copy I’ll pick it up.

@@thetheatrezoo3603 I don’t think I’ve read a single Oprah Book Club books 😂
@@autumnrose_noseinabook Well, I'm old. I think I started reading Toni Morrison because of Oprah.
