- This video is the first of the three parts that deals with the Disk scheduling algorithm in operating systems.
This part deals with the First Come First Serve(FCFS) and Shortest Seek Time First(SSTF) parts.
Thank you guys for watching. If you liked it please leave a comment below it really helps to keep m going!:)
This video was clear and concise and you saved me on my OS homework. Why couldn't my professor explain it this easily? Great job.
Thankfully my professor explains things this simply but he just handed us an assignment this time so the video was a great help
it was really good. And in fact you cover all the concepts in a very short period of time, and yes it helps a lot.Keep going. All the best
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Much appreciated!
I have my os exam tomorrow.....sir,u explain very clearly...thank u so.much ....god bless youuuu❤
Amazing, thank you very much. Supper helpful. Used tabular method at the end to calculate the seek time with "From Cylinder", "To Cylinder", and "Seek Time" columns to add up to get "Total Seek Time". Thanks again, super helpful!!!!
u just made it very easy to learn
keep doing luv ur work
You always helped me on the day of internal tests and on the day of my final exam, thx bro..
Great work man, you've made this incredibly boring subject quite easy. Thank you! :D

Great video bro..
thnqq soo muchh.......understood pretty well.......☺️☺️
What if in case of SSTF direction is different then its closest cylinder will be changed? or it does not matter ?
I just have a doubt i just followed u whatever u said bt im getting d wrong answers... can u solve full addition n subtraction
Well explained
thanks bro...saved me
Thank you!!
Thank you Brother
great man
Yeah Bro xD
When head move over 1000th cylinder for the first time, we have two new requests: 500 and 135. My question is, does head move to handle these requests immediately after 1022? In my opinion, that would be some sort of new Disk sheduling alghoritm.
thanku soooo much god bless u👌👌👌👌
Be my professor! haha. Anyways, great video!
thanks a lot man
thanx man...it helped me allot :)

Thank you :)
Why disk scheduling is used?? Can anyone answer.?!
Thank u so much... :-)
Love you man
Thank u so muchhhh
well done
I have a doubt .. if we get to calculate the total seek distance .. how should we calculate... please reply asap
U haven't mentioned the point that u have already sorted the queue
Else ur video was simply amazing
what will happen when the total time was increasing for each algorithm?
nyc explanation thanks a lot...
+Suraj Kumar
Thank you :)
Thank u brother
THANK YOU
Thanks a lot
Sir I need to ask first you subtracted 86 from 143 then 86 from 1470
what is the use of previous request
exactly!!!! dude
What is the function of previous request on here
Is it not used for fcfs... Used for scan csan look, clook..
Thnx dude
seek distance is 7090 in fcfs ....i think
thanks sir..
thank u
man why we are not adding difference other than the first differnces in fifo example
Thanks😁
+Nikita M.S
Thank you :)
does anyone knows how scan-edf works ?
What if total cylinder is not given
Isn’t 6981 the answer for FCFS?
it is 7081
previous request ki use Kya hai......???kuch nehi
Seek time in FCFS is 6981 I believe.
does cylinders equal to tracks?? or sectors??
someone please clear this out
the hard disk plate is divided into tracks co-centrically and each track is divided into sectors.
www.google.co.in/search?q=tracks+in+hard+disk&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=604&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjX4drv4JHQAhVIq48KHS3UD00Q_AUIBigB#imgrc=1Y4V7cM9ah9oQM%3A
and CYLINDER is nothing but the collection of all the tracks just below ,
[VISUALIZE cylinder of maths i.e collection of circles]
because you see hard disk isnt a single disk its a stack of several disks.
If in a question it is given say 78 cylinders then its as good as saying 78 tracks.
yeah hardisk to plates, plates to tracks and track to sectors which have R/W.
thank you sir
SSTF - shortest seek time first
You give wrong information
Give some theoritical info. as well...
handy
Mam can you tell me some important question my exam is on wednesday...plz....i reqst u
is it mam? lol
c scan total seek time is 9985
Shouldn't it be reversed
your SSTF example is extremely simple and doesnt show what you wanna do. These numbers are better for example,96 and 100,129,80,150,90,180,50,109 and total 202
You're my second favorite Indian
