unpopular opinion. I see nothing wrong with parents posting there children and family life if the child is ok with it and isn't forced to perform against their will. of course babies and toddlers can't talk but I don't think theres anything wrong with posting your babies and toddlers either. I understand people are concerned about pred. but pred. are everywhere you Can't stop them no matter what. opinions are just that opinions. you raise your kid as you see fit and other people will raise theirs how they see fit. theres nothing you can do about the way someone else chooses to parent. lastly, there are kids in FOSTER CARE in MUCH more need of help that you could focus on because they continued to be neglected and ignored and abused within the system and by Americana society as a whole.

When will parents learn that being that strict and abusive will only drive your kids further away, make them feel like they cannot go to you when they are in trouble, and lead them to developing dysfunctional relationships. @@saeranchoi3343 narcissism is a personality disorder, not a form of abuse. I was abused by someone with depression, but we don't call it "depression abuse". We name it after the kind of abuse dealt instead. Mental, physical, etc.
We shouldn't go around naming abuse after disabled people that may or may not have committed it. We aren't like "my cousin suffered amputee abuse" just bc the person who did it was an amputee. It would imply there was something inherently dangerous with a specific group of disabled people. That's just ableism.
This is no disrespect to people who were abused by people with NPD. Their abuse is real. But they weren't abused bc their abuser was disabled. Their abuser just chose to do those things and happened to be disabled.

You’re talking about NPD, not narcissism. Even then, it shouldn’t be compared to disabilities. A person having lost their limb is nowhere near the same as someone choosing to torment other people because it makes them feel good and gives them a sense of control. As a victim of narcissistic abuse I find it absolutely disrespectful that people are telling us that we can’t talk about the specific kind of abuse we’ve experienced. This is how you enable abuse, by silencing people who try to talk about it.

@@saeranchoi3343 my father has undiagnosed NPD. He abused me. However people literally don't have a difference between NPD and narcissism bc the words both refer to the same personality disorder. People have used the words around narcissism as an insult for many years, the same way as they do for "dumb".
When people patholigize "narcissism" they aren't creating a new separate term called from NPD. They just demonize NPD and then say that people with these traits do these things. Then go onto describe mental emotional and physical abuse.
I agree we shouldn't conflate disability with abuse. That's the whole point of my comment. You can't just name a group of people, say "all these people are abusers inherently". There's no convenient bad people group to sort people into without also hurting people.

I don't get it either. I can just say, that in my opinion, this mother is one of the best (or actually worst) examples of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) .
The way she starts to smirk, when she films her children cry is just scary. I feel like in her head it is all about getting the attention she wants, and no one else's feelings (or mental AND physical health) matters to her in any way shape or form... The world would be a much better place, if NPD would make you sterile...
Those poor children will need so much therapy when they grow up... Though a narcissistic mother would very likely try telling her kids they don't need that, and that therapy is for the weak or some shit (which in her opinion couldn't be true for HER kids, cause she did EVERYTHING right with them... not being able to realize, that they might need to heal from all the trauma SHE put onto them and that she was the one, leaving her kids with mental problems, that's at least my experience)
I just hope, that those kids will someday be able to find someone who actually loves them and will someday learn, how to love themselves, cause growing up like that can only leave them so insecure, poor kids...

I bet these kids hear variants of "I wouldn't have to do this if you weren't do difficult/nasty/a bad kid etc" on the regular and get their poor minds twisted until they too believe everything is actually their fault. Independence is dangerous in this kind of family dynamic, she wants control completely and utterly, she just doesn't want to parent her kids in a proper loving way. As someone who grew up LDS (aka Mormon) in Utah, this heavy-handed family and parenting dynamic is, sadly, quite common. I will admit that there are plenty of positive aspects to be seen from the religion and its emphasis on the importance of family, it’s not my intention to disparage the beliefs of others, but this story exemplifies the multiple major pitfalls that can also stem from it. I’ve seen plenty of people just like Ruby in my life.
People who grow up in Utah, and LDS communities therein, tend to live in a very sheltered environment, rarely exposed to differing ideas or people. It is to the point where there is a general sense of discomfort or distrust for anyone that is not also LDS or a Utah native. Those ideas or people that do not coincide with the church are designated as “worldly”. When she is crying in the car and says that their school is trying to “expose them to the world”, that is a very common sentiment. On the flip-side, they become way too trusting of anyone that is a fellow church member. That’s why you see all the massive MLMs stemming from Utah with founders that are LDS. Utah provides them with the perfect scamming ground because, “Oh, they go to church every Sunday, so of course they are a good person. They would never scam anyone”.
LDS parents do develop a strong mentality that they are “stewards” of their children’s lives and “worthiness”; and that their duty isn’t simply to care for/mentor their children as they grow, but direct them on a very specific path. From the outside looking in, you can see the issues here and how unhealthy this can become for the children. Parents maintain a stranglehold on their life choices, either directly, or even indirectly, simply through the extreme pressure of those expectations. I know firsthand how much those expectations weigh on a child. As they get older, It reaches a point where the child will either fall in line (perpetuating the cycle), lash out in a desperate attempt to express their individuality (often resulting in alienation from the family), or in the worst of cases, choose to take their own life.
Utah has one of the highest teen suicide rates in the country, and this is often tied back to the extreme pressure put on youth in LDS culture, though the church adamantly denies this connection.
Apologies for stepping into my own perspective at this point. We are so instilled with these ideas of “worthiness” in the eyes of the Lord, and the steps necessary to stay that way, that we feel like we are bad people if we make any deviation. We are so overwhelmed by the expectations of our family and community that it becomes a cage. This is especially common for teens that are LGBTQIA+. Speaking from first-hand experience, there was nothing more horrifying than grappling with the realization that I was gay. There was no thought in my mind more terrifying than my family finding this out. This can feel you with so much despair and self-loathing, that you may come to the conclusion that it makes more sense to end your life than face those consequences. You may even convince yourself that it’s altruistic. That you’re an abomination in the eyes of God and a disappointment to your family. I was one of the lucky ones that was met with unconditional love and open-mindedness from my family when all came to light. I can’t even imagine the darkness that must be felt from those with parents like Ruby, who takes their bed away for 7 months for pulling a harmless prank…
I’m also not surprised that Ruby will always double down. Her mindset is so firmly rooted in those beliefs that it’s the only perspective she’ll acknowledge, and it will always reinforce her existing values, rather than give her any cause to question them. For church members like her, it warps into a narcissistic sense of entitlement and need for control. She thinks she is a chosen lamb of God and those that criticize her are “of the world”, in which case she has an obligation to disregard them. She wants to remain in that bubble and she wants to keep her kids there with her.

I received a text from my daughter’s teacher letting me know her lunch money was running low. They fed her lunch, I thanked her profusely, and immediately added funds to her account. Kids have to eat at school, it affects their learning ability, behavior, moods, etc. A 5 year old is not ready to pack a lunch everyday. They can help, but it’s not their responsibility, it’s on the parents to provide food. And if there is any credibility to the accusations, Kevin Franke needs to file for custody of the kids. They should not be with their mother if these allegations are true.

i think it’s easier for a child to consent to playing a “role” like in child acting (although it’s not always good) but when they themselves are the character I think it’s incredibly damaging. We all need a sense of privacy

  • @seal8092

The blatant disrespect for her own children is disgusting. There are so many private moments that go on between children and parents, clothing shopping, bad days at school, getting in trouble, and she just spreads everything throughout the entire world, for everyone to see. I've done horribly embarrassing things as a kid, stuff I definitely don't want on the internet! But these kids? Don't get a choice, because their mommy wants clout.
The worst of it though is that, this will never not affect these kids. Every embarrassing moment they've gone through is online, and there is nothing they can do about it, and that's awful.
I hope this woman suffers, and that may be cruel, but I don't care, these children deserve justice. She's a disgrace to the title of mother, and I hope she gets what's coming to her.

What really stands out about Ruby is that she's such an egomaniac, just in general and especially in regards to her parenting methods. The way she smiles like she's the most clever and tough person alive for denying her little girl a meal or depriving her son of his privacy for months on end is so telling. The worst part is that Ruby is the sort of person whose views will only grow stronger with criticism. The more people tell her that her that disciplining your children is ineffective and dangerous without sincere compassion and empathy, the more she will become convinced that we're all just too soft and can't handle the truth. It's such a tragic mess and I'm glad at least those of us viewing the situation from the outside can show these kids the compassion and respect their mother apparently can't be bothered to give them.

I always believe that necessities should never be withheld as punishment, only niceties. This includes food, shelter (such as your room), and social relationships.
Kids will not starve if not given dinner, but they will develop an unhealthy relationship with food if food is frequently withheld.

As a mother myself, our job as a parent is to do 2 things.. 1) love your children, unconditionally. To be that mentor through life and 2) Prepare your children for the next phase of life, including the real world. If you shelter them, and pretty much parent like this woman, you are doing your children a disservice and setting them up to fall when they become adults

I think it’s imperative to put more safeguarding in place for not only thing like family channels but for children in all sorts of front facing industries like film or cinema, television or UA-cam. Sure they need guidance but look at what happens to these child stars when they are taken advantage of. It usually doesn’t end well, and when it doesn’t the public tends to leave them by the wayside. P.s another great video!

I was raised by my Prussian grandma who was born in 1946. I was born in 1996. She's a tough woman (Prussian means tough, proud and strict). Despite she always says that parents bring children to the world. Feeding humans you gave birth to is your duty. She says that children have their own issues despite they might seem little to adults, they really influence kids. She always provided me with privacy and respect even in my gothic, Lacrimosa phase. She was demanding in terms of honesty, integrity and education but she never exercised pointless discipline. Once she even talked negatively about her friend with whom I stayed for weekend. She said that I wasn't very well behaved (sic! I have excellent Kinderstuben) because she called me and I replied that I would come down in 1 minute, I wanted to say goodbye to my friend. She said that I wasn't not a dog and didn't do anything wrong.
I'm shocked that my grandma, raised by people who were born in Prussian Kingdom, who grew up during very demanding times, have more understanding and compassion towards young people than a 35yo wasp mother.
The way she says "my house". It's their home, those kids can't provide for themselves yet to have their own place. They're manipulating and keeping their kids in constant fear. These parents are nuts, they're training their kids in the way I wouldn't train my dog. There's difference between dyscyplinie and dysfunction. Taking out doors, looking through someone's stuff, refusing food and bed is not dyscyplinie. It teaches kids how to be abusive, how to lie and manipulate. I'm out of words for parents who grew up in privileged conditions, teach their kids absolutely bananas worldview. Kids aren't made to take care of their siblings or to be your house cleaners. They should participate to be well rounded people but they aren't your clones to live for you.
How can a person say that providing for their kid you made is a privilege? Do they compare themselves to the worst parents of all? Plus, they make their kids work, full time and they refuse them food? Those stupid parents are provided by their innocent children despite their pleas not to be constantly recorded. I wasn't perfect. When I didn't something wrong, I was ashamed of my grandma. The level of respect and love for her I had due to, according to 8 passengers, privilege of love and respect were enough. Of course, some kids struggle more with social consensus but treating them like this won't help. Especially that her kids are amazing and they're spoiling them by teaching them abuse. As adults they'll behave like recently released convicts out of prison, asking for permission to drink water. They'll be stuck in hopeless relationships due to their parents naming abuse as love (of course they might get help as adults and be happy, I wish them well!). They're wealthy and due to their kids hard work and involuntary sacrifice they have extra money. They could afford therapy if their son is struggling so much but they won't do it because deep inside they know they're the problem. Plus, taking care of your kid is a privilege for them that they don't deserve. Better send them on unregulated camp where abuse happens every minute and they might get hurt.
Christian sects in US are destroying generations of people. These parents want to build their imagine through their kid, as amazing parents and good people by fulfilling ideas of Mormon or whatever pedagogy that are absolutely harmful. From my European perspective, it's absolutely nuts the casual fanaticism that is engraved in certain societies. Here we deal with it too but it's not considered that being a strict Christian is making you automatically a good person. It's not normal to take advice about parenting from a random pastor or a priest at least since 50 years. These parents just want to be admired by and they know they're judged by their offspring. Unfortunately, it's not about kid's happiness, health and development but their thoughtless, unnecessary dyscyplinie. All of this apart from them making their kids work full time, not paying them, refusing food and privacy. Family channels must be regulated!!! I wish the kids all the best that they'll avoid generational trauma and find family in their real friends!

As someone who works in court for child abuse cases, what this family does in videos alone would be multiple referrals (in my state at least). I can imagine them making the parents do a psychological eval with a parenting capacity component bc they clearly do not understand proper child discipline and care. I would also see parenting classes and a shit ton of therapy for the parents and the kids. I can also see this getting all the way to TPR bc I can’t imagine them actually doing the services or listening to the judge’s orders bc “How dare you tell me how to parent?” Just saddening…

While the subject matter is incredibly heartbreaking, this video was tactfully and tastefully presented. I get physically ill when I think of those poor innocent children having to grow up in a household where being fed is considered a privilege and your bed gets taken away as punishment. On top of that, I feel awful for the poor daughter who moved off to college (I'm sure she didn't even get to choose which school she attended) and attempted to gain some much deserved autonomy and independence. Her mother became ridiculously upset - not because her daughter was leaving the nest, but because Ruby wouldn't have as much control over her!! My heart breaks for those children.
