@@oviets5993 This is NOT slavery. Calling it so insults those who actually went through that horrific existence. Is the conscription system perfect? No, it can definitely be reorganized. But it is because of that conscription system that make South Korea a truly formidable country, because any invader will face a nation where all men are soldiers, trained and ready to combat the enemy. And not sure why so many Koreans complain so much about it, you don't hear the Finns calling it slavery.
My uncle was killed in action during Korea War in 1952. He was part of the Colombia batallion, brave fighters in the Battle of Old Baldy, where they withstood multiple waves from the Chinese army. The Colombian Battalion not only defended their position but also carried out counterattacks, despite the bad weather and the vast numerical inferiority. Colombia and South Korea brothers in blood: “The gallant soldiers of Colombia born with the spirit of the caribbean sea. You held high the banner of the United Nations and while you fought for freedom and piece of your noble warriors 611 (KIA) ultimately shed their blood to your everlasting memory we hereby erect and dedicate this monument” is written in bronze in Gyeongmyeong Park in Incheon.

The government of southern Korea requested help from the United Nations to prevent the northern government from taking control throughout the country, in the same way that the northern communists asked their Chinese allies for help, etc... They were the same Koreans (south and north) who allow other countries to participate in their internal conflict. If for you they are aggressors, for many others in South Korea they are heroes and defenders. We would spend our whole lives in the discussion and we could study any single war in the history to see who is right or wrong, but I am not interested in to do that in UA-cam. Just live and let live.

Fun fact - during the Vietnam war Koreans were smoking the enemy 20 to 1. The Vietcong were absolutely terrified of these guys & for good reason. Being from the US I'm really proud to have these warriors as our allies.
