Cantonese songs, compared to mandarin songs are definitely harder to sing for non-chinese speakers. FOr Cantonese songs, all lyrics you need to sing while keeping the original tones but for Mandarin, you don't have to keep the original tones so you could sing them freely just go along with the melody.
an simple example explained why you think his mandarin is easier for you to learn. its just like an English speaker try to learn mandarin, most likely that will use like "she" to pronounce "是" but then Jkai he pronounce the word just using the mandarin way, i mean bpmf way.
