In the Brazilian flag, everyone knows that several aspects of the flag were made based on the previous monarchical flag, such as the colors and the overall design, however there is even more similarities thet everyone fails to find it. The main one is that the blue sphere in the flag that represents the globe is actually a rereading of an Armillary Sphere as well; a navigation tool that has been historically present in the brazilian flag and a link to our portuguese heritage.
As you mentioned Poland... Royal banners of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth were interesting in terms of changes, as they included current ruler's coat of arms in the center, and since it was an elective monarchy, there changed quite a lot depending on the noble dynasty that current ruler originated from. Hence, you can see on these banners - depending on the period and dynasty - such familiar symbols as French Fleur de Lys (de Valois), Swedish three crowns (Vasa), or black-green stripes of Saxony (Wettin). The actual flag, however, did not change and contained unchainging coat of arms of PLC in that place.
no. Finland's and Portuguese flags are not connected, besides the similarity. they didn't took the flag from the Portuguese since when that flag came to be Finnish national flag Portuguese haven't used the blue-white flag for a long time. Finland took the flag as an inspiration from other Nordic countries and made cross flag for themselves as well with blue cross representing Finnish lakes and white for snow.

Great video overall, but I am afraid I must correct one mistake. Poland has only one flag, white red bicolor. The one with our national coat of arms is solely the ensign of our Navy and could be legally flown only on warships. However, as our flags are made in China, as is the case with many countries I suppose, the Navy ensign has become used by at various sport events and by general populace during national holidays despite the fact of such usage being completely illegal. The factory staff in China was most likely limited to a Google search, and not a thorough one at it, and the buyers went with the alternative version provided not knowing any better. Fun fact remains, that in the case of war, under Convention of Hague, property, vehicles and personnel such marked is perfectly legal military target, as part of the Navy.
Thank you.. Great video as always. Out of all Egyptian flags, my favourite is the flag of the kingdom of Egypt - green with with crescent moon & 3 stars.
The Bahraini flag changed to better distinguish itself from Qatar (which it was once in the Trucial states with, along with UAE, hence the similar design but not colour). AND the reason it chose 5 points (down from 9) to the zig-zags is to represent the 5 islands that make up Bahrain. If you look at the flags of each of the 7 UAE emirates, Qatar and Bahrain you’ll see red and white blocks is the main theme. Qatar changed to a deep purple, but the 7 uae emirate flags and Bahrain are all pretty much the same, with slight differences.

South Africa got its orange, white and blue flag in 1928 but became a republic in 1961. And the US Flag evolved from the 1707 British Red Ensign, which was altered by putting white stripes on the ensign to make the Continental Flag, then it evolved into the Stars and Stripes.
the red bar on the dutch flag used to be orange, tributing the royal family, but was changed to red when orange paint was too expensive for mass production in the 16th century

The flag with the lis, for France, was the royal banner/dynastic flag, like the banner with the red lion for Scotland, with the four lions for Wales, with the harp for Ireland and with the three lions/leopards for England. The "national" banner, used by the people, the military and the ships, was the Saint Michel's cross (white on blue), explaining why Quebec has now a flag with a white cross on a blue field. It was that flag that was used in Canada by the French before the British conquest. It's interesting to see that Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, France, Cornwall and Brittany share the common particularity of having, at least by the past for some, a dynastic flag with a heraldic figure and a popular flag with a cross dedicated to a saint (St Patrick for Ireland, St Andrews for Scotland, St David for Wales, St Piran for Cornwall, St George for England, St Michel for France and just the Black Cross for Brittany). In France they are sometimes called "the Seven Crosses of the West". I don't know if there is such an expression in Britain or in Ireland. It's a similarity that I've always found very interesting, knowing how these nations have always been strongly intertwined.

Why did you not include the Georgian SSR flags from 1918-199x
