  • Series : Spirituality made Simple ( SMS) - Episode 12
Have you ever wondered why bad things happen if God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and compassionate? This video delves deep into this profound question, exploring the ancient wisdom of Vedanta to uncover the truth about reality and karma.
From the ultimate perspective of Paramarthika Satyam (Absolute Reality), there is no evil-everything is simply a projection of the underlying truth, Brahman, the infinite, unchanging reality due to Maya. However, at the level of Vyavaharika Satyam (Transactional Reality), where the appearance of a separate self and duality exists, we experience good and bad, happiness and suffering.
In transactional reality the Law of Karma, which governs not just individual actions but also collective outcomes. Karma creates the appearance of justice, rewards, and suffering within the transactional world. In this video, we explain:
The distinction between Absolute and Transactional Reality.
Why God, as understood in the Vedic tradition, is not directly responsible for evil or suffering.
How understanding these principles can bring peace and clarity.
Join us as we unravel these concepts and provide a transformative perspective on life, suffering, and the role of divinity. Watch now to gain a deeper understanding of why bad things happen and how to navigate life's challenges with wisdom and grace!

Amazing explanation. Another explanation to the question of "why does avidya exist or pain or evil exist" could be the fact of relativity in both good and evil. A terrorist for one country is the freedom fighter for the other country. Everything is relative in the world, so a lot depends on the personal context and perception. Secondly, everything in the world is transient and changing like a sinusoidal wave and therefore the opposite of what is being experienced at any moment is inevitable. This is why the world exists and is called "jagat" or constantly changing. The Bhagavad-Gita endorses karma or actions in a way that reduces the existing "entropy" or "chaos" or "disharmony" in the overall design of co-existence. Maybe we can explain it as reducing the amplitude of the sinusoidal wave of pain and pleasure..while we experience this changing world in our lifetime.

    Dear sir,
From my understanding I wish to share a few points.
"God lets bad things to happen" is a notion that got developed due to a wrong idea(misconception) about "God" - hence the question itself is not correct.
    Then...
What is the misconception about "God" ? - God is taken as some CEO sitting somewhere and making things happen which is totally wrong.
    Then what to do?
Vedanta does not start with the enquiry from God -it is a study from KNOWN to UNKNOWN - please get the answer to the question "who am I?" and keep all other questions as "pending for understanding" (no hurry !) -
    Then..
There is no direct answer for the question "who am I?" !!
    But..
There is an answer for "who am I NOT?" - there will be a big list which should include body, mind & prana also at the end - so what are all not I will become the True I which is nothing different from God.
    At this stage...
It will be very clear that "That God (or True I)" is not the doer of any good or bad.
    Then.... ?!?!
Avidya transforms into Kama which gets transfers into Karma (actions) which results into good or bad (productive or counterproductive ) results ultimately which is being attributed wrongly to God to shirk the responsibility
    Then....
Why are human beings born with "Avidya" ? There is no human being as such, which itself is Avidya - only being exist, human is additional attribute assumed due to Avidya which gets dropped by itself if one realises that he /she is not a special and peculiar creature in this creation and remains simple and🙏

    Then....
Why are human beings born with "Avidya" ?
There is nothing like "human being" as such, which itself is the result of Avidya - only "being" exist, "human" is an additional attribute assumed with being due to Avidya - by proper understanding this attribute gets dropped by itself - if one realises that he /she is not a special and peculiar creature in this creation and remains simple and humble without any attributes to his/her beingness then whatever happens will be Godly happenings only !
    Then..
human beings also will, naturally, exhibit Godliness!
    Thank you

Avidhya means the soul comes from the Paramatma and the soul gets evolved by taking many births and rejoins with the divine after realising that it is Brahman. And therefore ignorance. If you are enlightened, you will never evolve yourself. During evolution through knowledge and sadhana, the soul understands that it is not body, mind, emotions etc... which is given by Shankaracharya in Nirvana Shatkam.

      @ashwinipimplikar5725 3 години тому +1

      Yes agree with u....
The soul which emerges from the divine goes through many lifetimes to 'evolve' itself to reach its final destination that is to become one with the divine....
      And why there is pain?
It's purpose is also to evolve! Just like a larva breaks open the pupa and emerges into a beautiful butterfly and in the process goes through pain so also pain is experienced by each individual/soul to evolve and reach a higher level in the process of evolution.....
      Atleast that's my understanding....correct me if I am wrong😊

No..working towards meeting your physical needs is not against spirituality, in fact if you sincerely perform your duties to earn your money with the right intentions and energy..you are completely spiritual. That is karma yoga.
