    You nailed it with this video. I followed along on my panther town map. Thanks for making an informative and very useful video. I hope to make it down this year.

    Always enjoy your videos, Zach - have not seen you camp before. Appreciated the tip on the insulated ground cover, I may give that a try. Thanks!

      I do it sporadically, since I have so many videos you may have missed them. I have 3 or 4 camping videos in the last 1.5 years.

    It's a sweet hike went their back in march. Tranquility point would be super cool to camp in the summer. Unfortunately it was to cold to camp in an area so exposed.

      I'm not sure I would camp on the point but the pines near the rock had nice campsites.

    Good that you got to go backpacking Zack! Panthertown Valley is a cool place. I have a long time friend and business partner who has a house about 3 miles from there, so I've been to Panthertown several times. Some call it the Yosemite of the east. I'm curious about how slippery the Reflectix is. Did your pad slide around?

    • @bigzach322
      @bigzach322  6 років тому

      Yeah I know the nickname, forgot to mention it. It's more like a small diorama to me. I slipped some but I also slip on a normal foam pad, so I don't know if it's bad or my movement does it. All I need to do is put a few strips of Seam Grip on the pad and that should do the trick.

      Or I can add some grip tape, whatever is lower weight. The weight savings and compressibility of the Reflectix is nice.

    Great video! I used to love hiking and backpacking Panthertown. But it has become so popular and it can get so crowded that most of the time I can't stand going there. Nothing like the days when I first started visiting it. I don't think I've ever seen that great swimming hole you featured. If I ever decide to go in there again, I'll try to find it and go swimming there.
    The idiots who use the Valley these days have really screwed up the situation with the bears. The last time I went backpacking there I passed campsites where people had left food in the fire pits. This is typical of the morons who flood into the valley on weekends and holidays now. Very sad.

      Yeah I tried to avoid the popular camping areas and found a secluded spot, most of the latter half of the day I saw only a couple of people. The next day I saw 2 people, so it is weather dependent.

      The swimming hole you might be referring to is Jawbone Falls.

    I've been twice and cant seem to locate these pine forests I see in the you tube videos? Any chance you could be more specific as to where it is

      You're going to need to be more specific, which pine forests are you referring to?
