tbh same, im a pickle lover and I LOVE UMEBOSHI. for some reason near my local Japanese store, my umeboshi is super smooth and dosent look wrinkled. btw it isn’t actually that salty, it taste more vinegary like pickles. maybe it depends where you got the umeboshi??
I LOVE super sour candy, like i will lick the sour powder off warheads and throw away the candy itself. I also love pickles and sour dill pickles do not last long around me. Really need to try these next time i go to ky local asian market!
As a person who grew up eating this stuff, my mouth started watering like crazy watching this video. Definitely something that's best accompanied with rice.
Kids vs food or Adult vs food - The M-berry (make sour things taste sweet) (so make theme try sour things then have them try the m-berry and give them all the some foods
i mean, youre supposed to eat the umeboshi with its accompanying food, only an idiot or a tourist (which is basically the same thing imo) would eat umeboshi by itself. that said, i love super sour foods, so naturally pickled plum is an all time favorite!
Why are all these foods being presented as challenges? I want to see them actually try the food as it would normally be eaten to see if they like it or not.
They should have at least given them some rice a long with it. It’s not very good on it’s own but my grandmother always made us eat it with either Sushi or Rice.
I am used to eating those. Probably because I am Half-Japanese and my family usually eats Japanese food so my grandmother harvests pickled plums and sends them to us, and they are sour but I got used to it.
for future videos can they show the food how its meant to be eaten as well? bit of unfair to not recommend eg. relish when i just get a giant spoonful instead of eating it as a condiment
Wasps larvae are a delicacy in some places - mostly China I believe, but also Mauritius and french island La Réunion ! the taste is often compared to foie gras.
That "good with some rice" comment had me mentally screaming "That's how you're supposed to eat it!" I'm not really a fan of umeboshi, but I'd rather eat that than natto any day.
in Trinidad and Tobago it's called preserve/preservative fruits....fruits like cherries, plum, mangoes, prunes, peach, pawpaw are well known.....I grew up eating these things and i still do actually 😁
Ngl you couldve at least given them some rice to try. This is literally made to be eaten with rice, similar to a condiment. Its like chugging mayo or ketchup.
Ever try putting vanilla pudding in a clean mayo jar, or a home made strawberry smoothie (make it as red as the ketchup) in an opaque red ketchup bottle and just eat it in public. You get the weirdest faces
At first it was hell to me, but right now it's my favorite snack. I purchased them regularly and stored them at my office's fridge~
Have you tried the small ones that are crunchy? I like eating those as a snack and the big ones in onigiri.
Same with me. I was also in the same place with Natto, I have grown to love it.
@@bubbletea6269 Mhm, although my father thinks the smell of Natto is stinky I still eat it because why not right? It tastes amazing.
I like the ones that are super dried
@@matthewtenorioduenas202 Mhm
That is delicious I eat it everyday
Umeboshi onigiri is literally the best thing in the world
i want some i love sour stuff.

yaaaah. ^×^
Umeboshi are delicious. How is that a challenge?

"Tastes horrible." While still eating the fruit
i used to eat this dried sour plum candy thing from the store and i was literally so in love with it
As a person who grew up eating this stuff, my mouth started watering like crazy watching this video. Definitely something that's best accompanied with rice.
they just ate the league of legends community soilidified into fruit
😂😂 so true
I eat 'em often. Helps with digestion.
Kids vs food or Adult vs food - The M-berry (make sour things taste sweet) (so make theme try sour things then have them try the m-berry and give them all the some foods
I thought it made spicy things taste sweet? or is that something else
There is no way they gave them the strongest Umeboshi. I’ve been to Japan and seen another tourist eat one and been taken to their knees.
i mean, youre supposed to eat the umeboshi with its accompanying food, only an idiot or a tourist (which is basically the same thing imo)
would eat umeboshi by itself. that said, i love super sour foods, so naturally pickled plum is an all time favorite!
@@chloekaftan Cool story bro
I am salivating just watching them react right now. Really craving for sour r n
this was my childhood. I love this stuff. umeboshi go great in riceballs. it takes away from the sourness.
Who else's mouth started watering when they were eating them?
I'm savoring their reactions that go well with the umeboshi I'm eating right now.
me2
Man, they gotta eat it with rice! Its such a strong flavor on its own! The rice balances it out and it flavors the rices so well!!
Wouldn't be as entertaining.
Umeboshi onigiri 🍙 (rice balls) are DELICIOUS 😍
YAS
I'm part Hawaiian and grew up eating ume's and i love them! Eat them straight out the jar any day everyday.
Is there any difference between red umeboshi and white umeboshi other than the color?
@@examichelle yeah to me they taste different. I like the white ones. They put some kind of leaf in the red ones to pickle them with.
Didn't know salt was sour .3.
I could eat so many of these. My favorite childhood snack.
they should try swedish Surströmming (fermented baltic herring). If they survive the smell, im impressed
My mouth was watering the whole time... I want to taste it lol
Why are all these foods being presented as challenges? I want to see them actually try the food as it would normally be eaten to see if they like it or not.
1:38 says "oh wow! its horrible!" *continues eating* 😂👏🏼👌🏼
They need to try Swedish holiday food like onion or mustard pickled herring, surströmming if they dare
Elders vs Surströmming
2:43 every time the girl who creates drama walks by 😂
The former teens are such babies lol. I thought I was watching Kids React for a second
I want to hang out with Malcom.
Anyone here after Rhett and Link?
should tell them theres a seed inside. they might break their teeth biting into it.
Those plums have the same taste as my enemies after i leave the battlefield.
ooooohhhhh!!!
Edgy
Your enemies are sour? Strange, mine are salty.
Destiny Darren Not sure if you even watched this video but they said it tasted like salty and sour.
ResidentEvil91 I know, I was commenting while watching at the same time lmao
my mouth was drooling the whole time watching them eat the plum LOOOL
saaammee😭
Same! When I watch them eat it, its like I can also taste the salt/vinegar/sourness. 😖
I live in Japan but im not a fan of umeboshi
this vid makes my mouth water
I heart the guy with dreads. He's so sweet. 💜
Teens react to nuclear waste warheads
I'd like to see the reactors try Ceviche or Colada Morada.
Umeboshi plums and/or umeboshi plum paste are both great for curing an upset stomach. It's really amazing how quickly it works.
They should have at least given them some rice a long with it. It’s not very good on it’s own but my grandmother always made us eat it with either Sushi or Rice.
For meh rices yhe best combo XD
my mouth is watery from their reaction to the sourness/salty of the plum. i love sour/salty food.
I would recommend eating this with rice to break-up the sour taste. I used to get them in my bento boxes when I was in Japan.
I agree with eating it with rice. By itself, it's super strong. Rice helps mellow out the flavor, in a manner of speaking.
Those and onigiri and rice are SO GOOD :D
I love umeboshi, they really nice with some cooked rice.
the people vs food are the videos I enjoy the most. more more more please!
same
bruh i love those and where i live everyone loves it, the best bit is the seed because when you bite into it there's more sourness inside it
i live in Darwin, Australia
3:06 Makes perfect sense to me. haha.
can you guys do a Adult Vs Surstrømming?
They should do that it's one of the most popular challenge but they have to find people who haven't heard about it.
Teens vs all the new Oreo flavors!!
Kids vs. Food Dog edition!!!
I miss old series n old people especially Tom and he's gang 😭
I am used to eating those. Probably because I am Half-Japanese and my family usually eats Japanese food so my grandmother harvests pickled plums and sends them to us, and they are sour but I got used to it.

Cats vs Food : Cucumbers
Ha they should do that
YEASSSSSSSSSS
sour plum is like a pickle to japanese and some chinese, you eat it with RICE,think about sushi rice
its a way of keeping freshly cooked rice fresh when transporting it. the salty/vinegar flavor balances nice with cooked rice.
for future videos can they show the food how its meant to be eaten as well? bit of unfair to not recommend eg. relish when i just get a giant spoonful instead of eating it as a condiment
U guys worry about that, try li hing mui seeds
They should try Rugbrød! (blackbread) but with toppings!
Wasps larvae are a delicacy in some places - mostly China I believe, but also Mauritius and french island La Réunion ! the taste is often compared to foie gras.
I lIkE JaPaNeSe CuLtUrE - never heard of a umeboshi XD
Normally, I'd prep a some sticky rice and nori for this. It's way to overpowering on its own.
True true, I once ate it alone and my GERD said 'Nuh uh'
@Alex Weber Ohh
My dad actually really likes Umeboshi (he's Japanese)
REACT: Today, you get to try THIS!
Admiral Ackbar: It's a trap!
UMEBOSHI IS LIFE OMG ❤❤
I'm from Japan and it's very fun to see their faces when they taste XD
Watching this video makes me wanna eat this lovely KINTAMA food

Or they spell Gaby Gabi or Gabby
roxy weast someone gets it!! People tend to spell it Gabby or Gabbie when mine is Gaby.
Sour plum is delicious. (like 90% of the food presented in 'react' videos actually).
Teens vs Vietnamese Nem Chua (Fermented raw meat)
I learned about this from watching Shokugeki no Soma.
I mostly see it in onigiri (balls of rice). Outside of this video, i don’t think i’ve really seen people eat it by itself.
im japanese and I do like this
@@neonsplay8417 i like stinky beans with hot sauce and rice. I love it!
White Alliance natto?
White Alliance thats called natto ,which i eat with rice

lol Yeah but where's the fun in that?
Ever try putting vanilla pudding in a clean mayo jar, or a home made strawberry smoothie (make it as red as the ketchup) in an opaque red ketchup bottle and just eat it in public. You get the weirdest faces
It's a challenge
Good point. It's meant for sushi/onigiri.
TEENS VS. COW HEART (ANTICUCHOS)
Should rename it to "mostly babies vs food".
How can it be sour when they say its salty? Arent salty and sour completely different things?
Ye but it's both. They're sour and salty plums.
+WrightJustice but are they more sour or are they more salty?
I like the dried up sour plums with the orange powder, and the ones that have toffee around them
Lmao I eat these on a daily basis with rice they aren’t sour to me
Well yeah, you're eating them with rice.
I was extra salivating all through the video... wow
samee
When i found out about this plum i told my mom and just pulled out a jar of them like it was nothing
I wish they would leave the little 'facts' boxes up for longer. I can't read them that fast and I like knowing a little bit about each food.
Surströmming challenge
i could eat those by itself all day if i could they’re so good😂😂😂
i agree you should try Neriri Ume Neri
Same
anyone remember this from america’s next top model?
I love umeboshi onigiri! It's the best
Man I love sour plums with rice and seaweed
Well it's usually eating with rice not alone I think. Like when they make bento box they usually put one in the center of a bed of rice
