  • Today I tried something different and went fishing at J. Percy Pries Dam in Nashville, Tennessee. The only thing I pretty much threw the whole time was a DOA CAL Swimbait. I caught two skipjack back to back on is then 4 white bass. A great day of fishing!

Fun fact: skipjack is BY FAR the very best bait to use as cut bait for catfish. They love it. Also, if you can keep them alive (tough to do for long), they make amazing trophy sized striper bait.

DannyBTalks that’s what I heard! Didn’t know it was a good striper bait too!

Ol Skipjack, lot of the big cat fish guys keep those for cut bait, I got on a school of them last year and was wearing them out on a little paddle tail just like that from the kayak, I anchored down and just had a blast

The last fish was a yellow bass, different species than white bass. yellowish tint, dark lines that are broken unlike white bass which are of course white, and have continuous unbroken lines, that are not as dark as those on yellow bass. Yellow bass generally don't get as big as white bass. The one that you caught was a pretty nice yellow bass.

@@RoadAnglerTV They are common throughout the south(the Mississippi river drainage) and the mid-west. They even have a yellow bass tournament in Iowa, Storm Lake, I believe, where there are yellow bass guides, etc. the works.
