Which became one book then became the LotR (which was just one huge book, not a trilogy" then they stretch the starter kids story into three films. pfft. anyways, I go back and re read the book after watching these "films" It is still lost on me to go from the LotR (with the mistakes they had) to go to this travesty of a money grab.

@@brettmuir5679 Yeah, originally, The Hobbit was its own story, it wasn't in later editions that he included references to his stories about Middle-Earth connecting it to what will later become The Silmarillion. He wrote up until the point where Bilbo meets with Smaug and him and the dwarves hide in the Mountain. When Elaine Griffiths, one of the students got to read that unfinished draft and with his permission gave that draft to Allen and Unwin. Sir Stanley Unwin contacted Tolkien and said it was great but he wanted him to complete it. Originally, Bilbo was going to kill Smaug but he changed his mind at this point which is where Bard comes into the picture.
When they built the originally Shire in the LOTR in a farmer’s field it was with the understanding they would return the field to its original condition when they left. Well the movies were a world wide phenomenon and everyone was so disappointed they couldn’t visit the Shire. When they built the Shire again in the same field for the Hobbit they made it permanent so it could be a tourist destination. This made LOTR’s fans all over the world very happy. Now they could actually visit the beloved Shire and experience it for themselves. It must be a magical experience for those who go.

That Glóin is Gimli's father in case you missed it. Balin is his cousin, who was supposed to give the Fellowship "a royal welcome" in Moria, and Ori is the one who writes the book/diary that Gandalf reads just before the battle with the troll in Balin's tomb.

The Hobbit, then the three for LotR. You will get so much more. Mr. Jackson's first three films were wonderful (still missing, taking liberates") you will not know until you do. 18:48 It's actually 77 years. It took 17 years since Bilbo's 111th birthday/leaving Shire to the time when Frodo is sent on his own journey. So when Frodo arrives in Rivendel, Biblo looks much older not only because he's no longer in possesion of the ring, but also the time skipping. In the films it doesn't feel like it, i would guess a few months, but no specific dates are mentioned.
lol. Loved the "not today, Satan!" lol! Very apt, especially since Gandalf is essentially a guardian Angel in disguise, whereas Sauron and the Balrog are essentially fallen Angel demons within the lore of the novels.

Love Tashbo, and your immersive way of watching these films. Yeah, everybody complains about the CGI used in these films, but still ... they are vastly superior to 99% of what is being produced today for our consumption. I truly love how much you enjoy the characters. These books inspired my desire to write, and fifty years later, I'm still writing. Finished my first book, but have not yet attempted to sell it. Thanks for continuing on with The Hobbit movies. It gives you more of the Middle Earth world along with some back stories and character development. I enjoyed them on their own merits. I first read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was about 12 years old. The writer J. R. R. Tolkien died the year after I graduated from high school. The Lord of the Rings was published the year I was born. If interested you can find old interviews of the author on UA-cam.
The wizards are angelic beings called the Miars serving guardians of the world known as the Valars. They were essentially the same being as the Balrog, Gandalf fought in Moria. The Five Wizards of Middle-earth, known as the Istari, include Gandalf (Olórin), Saruman (Curunír), Radagast (Aiwendil), and the two Blue Wizards, Alatar and Pallando. Their main Valar were Manwë and Varda, who sent them, with Gandalf particularly serving under Manwë and also learning from Nienna, while Yavanna (creator of the Ents, animals and trees) influenced Radagast, and the Blue Wizards were connected to Oromë. Lastly Aule (Smith of the Valar) whose servants include Saruman and Sauron. Which could mean that they were probably long time friends before Sauron left and served Morgoth (the original dark lord). Funfact: Werewolves and Vampires exists jn this world.

I love it. One of my favorite pranks was I purchased a "One Ring" online. Upon receiving it, I wrote an email to the seller, thanking them for the transaction and telling them how thrilled I was to finally find it. The major difference between the 3 LOTR movies and the 3 Hobbit movies is that the LOTR had 3 books full of detailed information to draw upon, while The Hobbit was a short, single book that was written more as a children's tale than anything. Stretching the story into 3 movies made them, as Bilbo once said, "Thin, like so much butter spread over too much bread." Still, there is nothing really wrong with them. Most of the criticiism is either from Tolkien purists mad that characters and story elements were added thaty weren't present in the book, or people who just like to be overly critical of anything that doesn't exactly match their personal ideas and opinions of what something should be. Like what you like, and ignore the haters.
Hiya, "Tashbo"! I'm fashionably late to commenting, but this was a fabulous reaction, as always. I'm one of the "old" Tolkien fans, who was a fan of the books before any of the live action movies came out (there were some frankly not very good cartoon adaptations of most of the story, but they were a little tricky to come by in the 1980s and 90s when I was growing up). While the live action Hobbit trilogy gets a lot of dislike, I actually rather enjoy them, but that's because I wasn't really expecting them to be up to the same level as the LOTR movies because the book they're based on is a lighthearted children's book that Tolkien wrote many years before he wrote LOTR. I think they did a fairly good job of things, and liked the depictions of all the various dwarves. Interestingly two of the dwarves in Thorin's company appear in the first LOTR movie as well and a third almost did. Gloin (the red-bearded dwarf who talked about the signs being right for going to reclaim the Mountain) is the father of Gimli from LOTR, and appears briefly in LOTR as an old, white-bearded dwarf who arrives at Rivendell with Gimli. Ori, the relatively young dwarf who asks Bilbo what he should do with his plate, appears as the dead dwarf at the tomb in Moria who is holding the book Gandalf reads from. Balin, the old, white-bearded dwarf who is the second to arrive at Bilbo's home, is the one buried in that tomb. If the filmmakers had chosen to show the inside of the tomb after the cave troll smashed it, Balin might have appeared in LOTR as well... The songs in this movie all appeared in the Hobbit book. The rendition of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" in the movie is truly spellbinding, but I was disappointed they only included two verses of it, as it is a much longer song. Fortunately, there's a full-length performance of it by a group called "Clamavi de Profundis" that can be found on YT. I highly recommend it!
How Smaug knew about the treasure is that the Dwarves traded their products - precious metals, gems, and ironwork, for things like food and clothing. They were not notable farmers and weavers. Word of their treasure then traveled to lands where the dragons were. Ever see on a map "Here be dragons"? That's where they come from.

I read these books some ... 50 years ago, early 70s with the Hobbit in High School and of course had to read the trilogy after that (at least 4 times since). Not sure if someone mentioned here yet, the reason as you see Thror in his gold hoard like he is obsessing it (the only missing thing is him frothing in this moment), is because he is wearing one of the seven great rings of power given by Sauron, in his right ring finger, and along all of the seven rings in the hoard (as I remember), Smaug plunder the place, and he managed to eat the three great rings of power (not sure how) the other four was taken by Sauron's forces later on. Edit: Fun fact Smaug in this age (the third age of middle earth) is a joke compared to the first age of middle earth, the biggest of all of the dragons, named Ancalagon the Black made and bred by Morgoth the corrupted Valar (formerly named Melkor, brother of Manwe the chief of the Valar, and the boss of the eagles which serves as his messengers, Valar means in Tolkien like an Archangel, which is Sauron's boss), do you wanna know how big is Ancalagon the Black? Well, it not specified how big, but imagine him the size of three mountains or you can just find some fanart of him, just for the scale of his size, which he was slain by Elrond's father Eärendil, who is a half-elf, I assume you don't know that elrond is also a half-elf, their roots trace back to Beren (a Human) and Luthien (a half-Elf and half-Maia, Maia or Maiar are lesser or angels of the Valar and Manwe the God of Tolkien's world) which makes them Great-grandparents to Elrond and his twin brother Elros, now this is getting too long now I'll end it here, if you're interested to the lore of Middle Earth feel free to search them 😊.

Yes, Bilbo and Frodo are related to Merry and Pippin, they are Frodo's cousins, remember when Frodo told Faramir of The Fellowship? He referred to Merry & Pippin as "two were my kin" The song you liked was actually sung by the actors on set. They were going to have professionals do it but someone knew the guy who plays Thorin could sing and the other guys playing the dwarves wanted to try it. They surprised everyone by doing that perfectly while filming in one take. The story of the Battle for Moria is the first major deviation from the book and lore, besides that being from The Silmarillion. The battle went differently, I can't remember if Thror was killed but Thrain wasn't driven mad, plus Azog died like Thorin said he did. They changed it for the movie to give a major antagonist. The Hobbit doesn't really mention one head orc, and Radagast is just mentioned. The entire Dol Goldur parts are covered by The Silmarillian.

I love these prequels, as someone who isn’t a total Tolkien nerd. Understood that’s it’s not as good of a representation of the books in comparison to the original movies, but I don’t care. They were still fun movies

A lot of the problems people had with The Hobbit films were probably pacing. The Hobbit being a small book many people didn’t feel it needed to be stretched into 3 films. Also while the LoTR films were mostly done with practical effects, Jackson decided to use a lot of CGI in the Hobbit films. Which is why the Orcs look much better in the LoTR films and not as good in the hobbit films. Also certain characters and a certain romance are just added in for some reason. Tbh while the hobbit films have their flaws and imo aren’t anywhere close to LoTR, for the most part they are fun movies. And have their charm. People also forget that Peter Jackson came in last minute when Guillermo Del Toro decided he didn’t want to direct the movies anymore.
I can see why many people think the Hobbit is not that good, yet in all honesty it also got its glorious moments and marking it as bad is just not okey. It is rather comparable to the typical 5 star thing - most of the people give a 5 or a 1 - forgetting there is also a 2, 3 or 4. And additionally the haters are pretty vocal, so you think it would be the general opinion. And also what you like or not has not to be what the majority likes.

You cant remember his name but you remember fellowship of the ring film.. Our crew was at mines of moria remember? There was a grave stone at there... Gimli mourned for that grave.. Pippin accidentally dropped a skeleton at well.. Remember.? That grave stone belongs to Balin.Gandalf read that stone grave's name.. "Here lies Balin... Son of Fundin.." That's what he said at there... That dworf.. Also there was a skeleton to at that room.. He wrote something at a book.. Gandalf read it " They take the bridge, we shutted the door. But we cannot hold it much longer.. They are coming..." That skeleton dworf was the youngest dworf of this dworfs crew..( the dworf at 16:51...That burping dworf). These are not spoilers because you will never see anything about that info..

His hair was dark, as if in a twilight shadow, and there was a silver ring on it, his eyes were gray as a clear evening, and there was a light in them like the light of the stars. He commanded respect, like a king who had survived many winters and was still strong, like a warrior in his prime. And he was the lord of Rivendell, equally revered among elves and humans. Elrond was considered the best healer of Middle-earth in the Third Age. He was experienced in knowledge and wise, so they often sought his advice. Elrond had a prophetic gift and made several important predictions that were fulfilled. He could play the harp (his harp was silver).
There are details that are different in each story, but it seems to me that the broad strokes between the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings are very similar. Even the Silmarillion has stories w/familiar plot lines to LotR. It doesn’t mean they aren’t good stories, but in my opinion, Tolkien pretty much just tells the same story over and over again in his legendarium. 🤷♀️😄
A word in defense of the dwarves' free treatment of Bilbo's larder, to be fair they did fully expect Bilbo to take an extended sabbatical to Long Lake... His pantry would certainly fallen to corruption in the meantime.

Songs play a large part in Tolkien's world and writing. In the LOTR trilogy they couldn't play as a large part because the films were too long already, although they included as much as they could in several other ways as well, such as in dialogue and also in the breathtaking soundtrack. But in this film you can definitely see they are including as much as they can into it

I find the Hobbit movies to be much more fun to watch than LOTR. I have seen them several times more than the LOTR. There something about the story and the characters that are more appealing to me. :)
For 13:31 Gandalf write this Rune letter that means "G" .. G for Gandalf sign.. At the Lord of The Rings books, he signed his own letter "G" on a rock at Amon Sul Watch Tower.. That was the place where Frodo is stabbed by a Nazgul.. There were 5 Nazgul's right there.. Rest of 4 Nazgul was Gandalf's back.. Because Gandalf reached that place before Frodo and he write his G letter, That means I was here... After than he fought with 4 Nazguls and escaped from there.. Because of this, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry and Aragorn fought just 5 Nazgul.. Not all of 9 them. :D

Colors are some kind of ranking system in wizards.. The white is highest rank.. Saruman the white.. Grey is second.. blue is third and Brown is forth.. Radagast the brown :))

So I suggest you that, after when you finish that hobbit trilogy, you watch lord of the rings trilogy again.. You will shock how many big and little details are connecting each other of these 2 trilogy.. You didnt realize of them because you cannot remember every words at Lord of the rings.. But if you watch Lotr again while your memories is fresh about the Hobbit movies, you will shock so much :))

I really love The Bobbit movies. It gets a lot of crap from book purists because it changes a lot of things from the book and I'm also normally not a fan of adaptations who do that, *cough cough* House of the Dragon, but I think The Hobbit movies captures the spirit of the source material which is a children's adventure book which Tolkien said he had originally intended for his children's bedtime stories.
The Hobbit trilogy is kind of hit-or-miss in my opinion. It has some fun parts, but the original book was pretty short and so they added a lot of things to pad the run time into a full trilogy. Some of the best scenes are pulled straight from the book, I think.
I guess it isn't the movie that was upsetting to me, but what happened in the production of it. Sir Ian McKellen spoke of his part in the behind the scenes appendices of The Hobbit. The fact that the cgi graphics were very rushed on a limited budget was also a concern. Otherwise, this trilogy was quite beautiful.

Not true. Professor Tolkien had been working on Middle Earth stories and languages for 20 years prior to publishing The Hobbit.

18:48 It's actually 77 years. It took 17 years since Bilbo's 111th birthday/leaving Shire to the time when Frodo is sent on his own journey. So when Frodo arrives in Rivendel, Biblo looks much older not only because he's no longer in possesion of the ring, but also the time skipping. In the films it doesn't feel like it, i would guess a few months, but no specific dates are mentioned.
lol. Loved the "not today, Satan!" lol! Very apt, especially since Gandalf is essentially a guardian Angel in disguise, whereas Sauron and the Balrog are essentially fallen Angel demons within the lore of the novels.

"Oh My God! It's Massive!"... Actually Smaug is one of the Lesser dragons in Tolkien. One - was actually described as "Large as a Mountain" (That one was Flightless) and Another was at least 3x Smaug's size but could also fly.
Ancelagon the black was the name of the mountain sized dragon that sundered the world with his fall. Glaurung was the one that was flightless.
Radagast was played by Sylvester (The 7th Doctor Who) McCoy. I believe it was Radagast that sent the giant eagle that rescued Gandolf from the tower in Isengard.
Love Tashbo, and your immersive way of watching these films. Yeah, everybody complains about the CGI used in these films, but still ... they are vastly superior to 99% of what is being produced today for our consumption. I truly love how much you enjoy the characters. These books inspired my desire to write, and fifty years later, I'm still writing. Finished my first book, but have not yet attempted to sell it. Thanks for continuing on with The Hobbit movies. It gives you more of the Middle Earth world along with some back stories and character development. I enjoyed them on their own merits. I first read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was about 12 years old. The writer J. R. R. Tolkien died the year after I graduated from high school. The Lord of the Rings was published the year I was born. If interested you can find old interviews of the author on UA-cam.

The wizards are angelic beings called the Miars serving guardians of the world known as the Valars. They were essentially the same being as the Balrog, Gandalf fought in Moria.
The Five Wizards of Middle-earth, known as the Istari, include Gandalf (Olórin), Saruman (Curunír), Radagast (Aiwendil), and the two Blue Wizards, Alatar and Pallando.
Their main Valar were Manwë and Varda, who sent them, with Gandalf particularly serving under Manwë and also learning from Nienna, while Yavanna (creator of the Ents, animals and trees) influenced Radagast, and the Blue Wizards were connected to Oromë. Lastly Aule (Smith of the Valar) whose servants include Saruman and Sauron.
Which could mean that they were probably long time friends before Sauron left and served Morgoth (the original dark lord).
Funfact: Werewolves and Vampires exists jn this world.
It's probably also worth mentioning that Aulë created the Dwarves.
The grey haired dwarf is Gimli‘s cousin.. he went back to reclaim Moria it was his tomb that Gimli was weeping over… also his father is a part of this company.. you will have to disscover which one

I was first introduced to Tolkien's universe through The Hobbit trilogy. Then I discovered that Lord of the Rings was a direct sequel to the story, but that it had been released before, which for a child was a little confusing.

The major difference between the 3 LOTR movies and the 3 Hobbit movies is that the LOTR had 3 books full of detailed information to draw upon, while The Hobbit was a short, single book that was written more as a children's tale than anything. Stretching the story into 3 movies made them, as Bilbo once said, "Thin, like so much butter spread over too much bread." Still, there is nothing really wrong with them. Most of the criticiism is either from Tolkien purists mad that characters and story elements were added thaty weren't present in the book, or people who just like to be overly critical of anything that doesn't exactly match their personal ideas and opinions of what something should be. Like what you like, and ignore the haters.
Martin Freeman as Bilbo makes the movies worth a watch even with all the ridiculous fluff.
Hiya, "Tashbo"! I'm fashionably late to commenting, but this was a fabulous reaction, as always. I'm one of the "old" Tolkien fans, who was a fan of the books before any of the live action movies came out (there were some frankly not very good cartoon adaptations of most of the story, but they were a little tricky to come by in the 1980s and 90s when I was growing up). While the live action Hobbit trilogy gets a lot of dislike, I actually rather enjoy them, but that's because I wasn't really expecting them to be up to the same level as the LOTR movies because the book they're based on is a lighthearted children's book that Tolkien wrote many years before he wrote LOTR. I think they did a fairly good job of things, and liked the depictions of all the various dwarves. Interestingly two of the dwarves in Thorin's company appear in the first LOTR movie as well and a third almost did. Gloin (the red-bearded dwarf who talked about the signs being right for going to reclaim the Mountain) is the father of Gimli from LOTR, and appears briefly in LOTR as an old, white-bearded dwarf who arrives at Rivendell with Gimli. Ori, the relatively young dwarf who asks Bilbo what he should do with his plate, appears as the dead dwarf at the tomb in Moria who is holding the book Gandalf reads from. Balin, the old, white-bearded dwarf who is the second to arrive at Bilbo's home, is the one buried in that tomb. If the filmmakers had chosen to show the inside of the tomb after the cave troll smashed it, Balin might have appeared in LOTR as well...
The songs in this movie all appeared in the Hobbit book. The rendition of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" in the movie is truly spellbinding, but I was disappointed they only included two verses of it, as it is a much longer song. Fortunately, there's a full-length performance of it by a group called "Clamavi de Profundis" that can be found on YT. I highly recommend it!

How Smaug knew about the treasure is that the Dwarves traded their products - precious metals, gems, and ironwork, for things like food and clothing. They were not notable farmers and weavers. Word of their treasure then traveled to lands where the dragons were. Ever see on a map "Here be dragons"? That's where they come from.

I read these books some ... 50 years ago, early 70s with the Hobbit in High School and of course had to read the trilogy after that (at least 4 times since). Not sure if someone mentioned here yet, the reason as you see Thror in his gold hoard like he is obsessing it (the only missing thing is him frothing in this moment), is because he is wearing one of the seven great rings of power given by Sauron, in his right ring finger, and along all of the seven rings in the hoard (as I remember), Smaug plunder the place, and he managed to eat the three great rings of power (not sure how) the other four was taken by Sauron's forces later on.
Edit: Fun fact Smaug in this age (the third age of middle earth) is a joke compared to the first age of middle earth, the biggest of all of the dragons, named Ancalagon the Black made and bred by Morgoth the corrupted Valar (formerly named Melkor, brother of Manwe the chief of the Valar, and the boss of the eagles which serves as his messengers, Valar means in Tolkien like an Archangel, which is Sauron's boss), do you wanna know how big is Ancalagon the Black? Well, it not specified how big, but imagine him the size of three mountains or you can just find some fanart of him, just for the scale of his size, which he was slain by Elrond's father Eärendil, who is a half-elf, I assume you don't know that elrond is also a half-elf, their roots trace back to Beren (a Human) and Luthien (a half-Elf and half-Maia, Maia or Maiar are lesser or angels of the Valar and Manwe the God of Tolkien's world) which makes them Great-grandparents to Elrond and his twin brother Elros, now this is getting too long now I'll end it here, if you're interested to the lore of Middle Earth feel free to search them 😊.

Yes, Bilbo and Frodo are related to Merry and Pippin, they are Frodo's cousins, remember when Frodo told Faramir of The Fellowship? He referred to Merry & Pippin as "two were my kin"
The song you liked was actually sung by the actors on set. They were going to have professionals do it but someone knew the guy who plays Thorin could sing and the other guys playing the dwarves wanted to try it. They surprised everyone by doing that perfectly while filming in one take.
The story of the Battle for Moria is the first major deviation from the book and lore, besides that being from The Silmarillion. The battle went differently, I can't remember if Thror was killed but Thrain wasn't driven mad, plus Azog died like Thorin said he did. They changed it for the movie to give a major antagonist. The Hobbit doesn't really mention one head orc, and Radagast is just mentioned. The entire Dol Goldur parts are covered by The Silmarillian.
Gandalf the White is awesome, but I will always love Gandalf the Grey. I got nostalgic when I saw him reappear. Love your reactions to these films.

Tashbo the Hobbit a country girl 😍 Visited Yorkshire two weeks ago, love it. I'm from the Nord myself so appreciate a simple Hobbit lifestyle. Our trolls a more like a portray of Radagast mixed with a hobbit, a little goofy and cute creatures that live in a forest.

I love these prequels, as someone who isn’t a total Tolkien nerd. Understood that’s it’s not as good of a representation of the books in comparison to the original movies, but I don’t care. They were still fun movies

In the Fellowship of the Ring, when Frodo meets Gandalf in his cart he tells him about Bilbo always going over old maps. And then when Gandalf is invited inside by Bilbo, you can clearly see this map of the Lonely Mountain in his study
A lot of the problems people had with The Hobbit films were probably pacing. The Hobbit being a small book many people didn’t feel it needed to be stretched into 3 films. Also while the LoTR films were mostly done with practical effects, Jackson decided to use a lot of CGI in the Hobbit films. Which is why the Orcs look much better in the LoTR films and not as good in the hobbit films. Also certain characters and a certain romance are just added in for some reason. Tbh while the hobbit films have their flaws and imo aren’t anywhere close to LoTR, for the most part they are fun movies. And have their charm. People also forget that Peter Jackson came in last minute when Guillermo Del Toro decided he didn’t want to direct the movies anymore.
In the book they were actually two weeks early and had to wait for the moonrunes to be read, which meant two weeks of the dwarves stuck in Rivendell
Not what I'd call "stuck", Bilbo notes that they would all have liked to stay forever.
I can see why many people think the Hobbit is not that good, yet in all honesty it also got its glorious moments and marking it as bad is just not okey. It is rather comparable to the typical 5 star thing - most of the people give a 5 or a 1 - forgetting there is also a 2, 3 or 4. And additionally the haters are pretty vocal, so you think it would be the general opinion. And also what you like or not has not to be what the majority likes.
Natascha no spoiler I promise because any film will not talk about what I must inform you.. At 15:35 dworf (white beard and hair) is Balin.. You cant remember his name but you remember fellowship of the ring film.. Our crew was at mines of moria remember? There was a grave stone at there... Gimli mourned for that grave.. Pippin accidentally dropped a skeleton at well.. Remember.? That grave stone belongs to Balin.Gandalf read that stone grave's name.. "Here lies Balin... Son of Fundin.." That's what he said at there... That dworf.. Also there was a skeleton to at that room.. He wrote something at a book.. Gandalf read it " They take the bridge, we shutted the door. But we cannot hold it much longer.. They are coming..." That skeleton dworf was the youngest dworf of this dworfs crew..( the dworf at 16:51...That burping dworf). These are not spoilers because you will never see anything about that info..

Although it reflected the memory of many events, both joyful and sad. His hair was dark, as if in a twilight shadow, and there was a silver ring on it, his eyes were gray as a clear evening, and there was a light in them like the light of the stars. He commanded respect, like a king who had survived many winters and was still strong, like a warrior in his prime. And he was the lord of Rivendell, equally revered among elves and humans. Elrond was considered the best healer of Middle-earth in the Third Age. He was experienced in knowledge and wise, so they often sought his advice. Elrond had a prophetic gift and made several important predictions that were fulfilled. He could play the harp (his harp was silver).
There are details that are different in each story, but it seems to me that the broad strokes between the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings are very similar. Even the Silmarillion has stories w/familiar plot lines to LotR. It doesn’t mean they aren’t good stories, but in my opinion, Tolkien pretty much just tells the same story over and over again in his legendarium. 🤷♀️😄

Songs play a large part in Tolkien's world and writing. In the LOTR trilogy they couldn't play as a large part because the films were too long already, although they included as much as they could in several other ways as well, such as in dialogue and also in the breathtaking soundtrack. But in this film you can definitely see they are including as much as they can into it
You need to plan yourself a wee adventure off to Hobbiton, that set is now a permanent set up and attraction in New Zealand and it is very cool.

I dont like how so many people compare this trilogy to LOTR, its in the same world but they're telling a different story.
Both trilogies are amazing in their own way.
Not between Frodo's return and when they left Middle Earth, Bilbo didn't live in the Shire then, he lived in Rivendell.
I find the Hobbit movies to be much more fun to watch than LOTR. I have seen them several times more than the LOTR. There something about the story and the characters that are more appealing to me. :)
For 13:31 Gandalf write this Rune letter that means "G" .. G for Gandalf sign.. At the Lord of The Rings books, he signed his own letter "G" on a rock at Amon Sul Watch Tower.. That was the place where Frodo is stabbed by a Nazgul.. There were 5 Nazgul's right there.. Rest of 4 Nazgul was Gandalf's back.. Because Gandalf reached that place before Frodo and he write his G letter, That means I was here... After than he fought with 4 Nazguls and escaped from there.. Because of this, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry and Aragorn fought just 5 Nazgul.. Not all of 9 them. :D

Colors are some kind of ranking system in wizards.. The white is highest rank.. Saruman the white.. Grey is second.. blue is third and Brown is forth.. Radagast the brown :))
Gandalf is older then you realize. He was there before Middle-Earth was formed. Galadriel is also older then the sun and moon.
If you thought Smaug was big you should read about Ancalagon ‘The Black’ who is widely seen as the largest dragon in fiction.
If i was leading the dwarves to Rivendell we would have arrived a day after that specific moon and had to wait a year.

So I suggest you that, after when you finish that hobbit trilogy, you watch lord of the rings trilogy again.. You will shock how many big and little details are connecting each other of these 2 trilogy.. You didnt realize of them because you cannot remember every words at Lord of the rings.. But if you watch Lotr again while your memories is fresh about the Hobbit movies, you will shock so much :))

It gets a lot of crap from book purists because it changes a lot of things from the book and I'm also normally not a fan of adaptations who do that, *cough cough* House of the Dragon, but I think The Hobbit movies captures the spirit of the source material which is a children's adventure book which Tolkien said he had originally intended for his children's bedtime stories.

The Hobbit trilogy is kind of hit-or-miss in my opinion. It has some fun parts, but the original book was pretty short and so they added a lot of things to pad the run time into a full trilogy. Some of the best scenes are pulled straight from the book, I think.
I saw the hobbit in the theaters 12 years ago.
I guess it isn't the movie that was upsetting to me, but what happened in the production of it. Sir Ian McKellen spoke of his part in the behind the scenes appendices of The Hobbit. The fact that the cgi graphics were very rushed on a limited budget was also a concern. Otherwise, this trilogy was quite beautiful.
