Lol I'm the same I'm a closet worm freak. When my wife tries to see what I'm watching she thinks I'm watching naughty stuff. Little does she know it is naughty worm vids. Love this channel.
Another great video! Being management at Starbucks makes me appreciate all the coffee you put in during every feeding. I also have plenty of coffee and tea that I use every time.
I prepped a few bins today and will transfer worms into them in a week. I am following along with your videos and learning as I go! So far just using shallow bins but may eventually try out a vermi bag!
I placed a large piece of watermelon in my one bin about two weeks ago, and today when i checked only a piece was left, what i love the most is when they gobble up the paper on top, that is just insane
Yeah... I like it when they eat the paper too. I wonder how long it'll be before I start seeing signs of the paper I placed on top disappearing. Thanks for watching!
The harvest schedule is the one thing that will cause issues with a bag system. I put it off too long,too many times. The casting were like mud. When I behaved and did a small harvest every month it was great. Maybe since your bag system is dry ish it will be ok?
Check out Tom's video on why you should harvest the bag and what happened to the castings he got when he waited a long time. I will be watching this one twice. Paige has a hot date tonight. Ha Ha, she went with her Pa Pa to see the Christmas light show . She has been looking forward to the light show for weeks .

Any maybe I'll even swap out the ENCs for something else to see how things go in there with a different type of worm (or worms). Its beginning to seem that the VermiBag Mini is due for a change. I'll have to give the idea some further thought... :)
Hi good sir. Great video. I live in Ny state and keep my vermibag in my un-heated garage. They did well in the summer but I'm worried about the winter. Is your worm area in the basement heated? What is your average room temp during the winter? Thanks in advance.
Even when it gets extremely cold during the winter the basement never drops below 50°F. Last winter I had an outdoor bin with worms which I took indoors on only a couple occasions when it was expected to get extremely cold. Otherwise they spent the entire winter outside. They did OK. In many cases they stick around for a long time. I have tried diatomaceous earth, vinegar traps, etc. Eventually I'm not sure if they just left on their own or if it was something I did. I think they are still something that I have not mastered the management of yet. Thanks for watching!
Hey hey buddy! Instead of needing to regularly add water, I attempted to wrap the VermiBag Mini with a sheet of bubble wrap - and I try to keep the contents of the bag covered with a plastic sheet. For the most part I think this approach has been working well... but I have thought a few times lately that adding a bit of moisture might do the worms good. Once in a while it seems like the material in the bin is getting a bit dryer than I'd like for it to be... To answer your question, I think yes - I would recommend the VermiBag. Its high quality materials combined with great workmanship. :)
I hope ypu don't mind me jumping in here. I have 2 Vermibags , the Micro and the Minimist. I have never had much issue. The first harvest of each was a little wet but most users I talk to say that is normal. I have an Urban Worm bag v2 and it is actually the 2nd one going now. The first had issues with the zipper. Then when that zipper failed completely I harvested it completely. I tried to clean it and fix the zipper. The bag peeled apart . I sent feedback and they replaced it. But I am waiting to ses how it does when I harvest the first time. I prefer and recommend if you are considering a bag get a VermiBag . Tom makes the best .

Modern apples were bred for longer shelf life. Maybe that's why it doesn't break down fast.

I guess about 2 weeks then the paper will show signs of deterioration
