This is where road racing began in America. One lap around the historic watkins glen course. once a year the roads are blocked off and actual race cars do a recreation lap
Awesome trick. Definitely makes it seem more realistic, even though you have to follow a Pace Car. I did some pace laps at Watkins Glen once and was in line with mini vans and station wagons and family cars, however if you go slow enough and let everybody in front of you get outta sight you can still have some real fun.
You want them to be killed? Look how many telephone poles are there right beside the road. Same goes for houses, and there is no proper barriers anywhere.
I love how the current track recreated some of the elements of the original track, including the Esses and Carousel
Very cool, thanks for including the telemetry. Having only seen maps of the old circuit, I had no idea there was so much elevation change.
I lived in WG for a year in the 90’s - loved that town and the old track!! Thanks for the memories!
If you set the playback speed to 2x, you will experience simulated speeds of up to 130 mph on this historic course!

Thanks for this video. I was just in Watkins Glen watched this to learn where the old course was and took a drive around it
Very cool, I didn't know they did this.
wonderful, it's just painful to watch these cars go so slow
Gives a bit of the old Spa road course vibe
Hmmmm....a 100k bike ride in the future? 11 laps? Sounds like a something I should do.
let them race this old course
Too many close houses, telephone poles and a nasty narrow concrete bridge abutment.
If they're going through the effort of closing the roads they should do an actual race
